PRESENTED BY PROFESSOR BRIAN COX ONE FAMILY, WORLDS APART This stunningly ambitious series brings to life the most memorable events in the history of the solar system, by using groundbreaking visual effects to tell the thrilling story of all eight planets. Transporting you to the surface of these dynamic worlds to witness the moments of high drama that shaped each one, The Planets reveals how the latest science allows us to unlock their past lives. It pieces together clues of magnificent lost waterfalls on Mars, the mass planetary migrations as they jostled for position early in their history, and even the distant fate of Saturn as one of its moons awakens to form a beautiful water world. BONUS FEATURES: MINISODES Review: Spectacular - "The Planets" is the eagerly awaited follow up to "Wonders of the Solar System." Brian cox takes us through all the latest facts and theories of the origins of our solar system. Astronomy geeks like myself will love it - make no mistake, and the whole 5 episode series as a whole is a cinematic wonder in itself, and with state of the art digital effects - of which some will take your breath away, this series is a modern day master piece. All hail Professor Brian Cox for giving us yet another wonderous cinematic extravaganza! Review: Outstanding series. Breathtaking images. - Brian Cox is a very pleasant host for this outstanding series with its breathtaking images and scientific explanations of what has been found out about the individual planets in the solar system by the voyager and new horizons spacecraft. I particularly like that Brian has gone back to using the logical british pronunciation of 'kilometres' rather than the american pronunciation, which he adopted for the Wonders series.

Brilliant...! Amazing filming & graphics. Narrration by Brian Cox is absolutely riveting... Soundtrack fantastic. Lots of human touches that can actually be touching. Perhaps the best mini documentary series of all time. Buy for anyone remotely interested in history of our Solar System evolution or as a perfect informative gift.

Why only stereo audio and no 4K option?
Would give this 5 stars as it’s a great programme with fantastic narration by Brain Cox and impressive CGI visuals but given it was made in 2019 it’s disappointing the 1080p Bluray only has a stereo audio track and there is no option to buy the disc in 4K.

Brilliant! Well worth the watch.
Amazing update to the series with the most recent and up-to-date information about our solar system. It's great to watch the original one before this one as you can see the progress that we have made and what we now know about our solar system. The CGI is really good. I do like Brian Cox but I'd of preffered Neil degrasse Tyson or Michio Kaku as a narrator.

We saw this on the BBC in the UK but I couldn't find it on a US DVD. We bought an inexpensive region-free DVD player along with this and it worked just fine. It won't play in a normal DVD player in the US (need region free).
