Anybody having a problem with grit or small stones? Other brands seem to be plagued with them and my teeth are cracked enough as it is.

Never had any problems with stones or grit only use it for cooking ,if you are using for every day use best to buy fine...

What will the best by date be for 4 bags? Can you use past the date?

Hi I have only bought these in 2 packs and used them over a couple of years, I am no expert but I would be happy to use them for a long time, one thing, the salt draws in moisture, so can be hard to grind in most table grinders as the salt clogs up the mechanism. OK to use with a pinch in your fingers.

The package seems a bit different than the picture. Is it a new version?

Yes there are 2 different version for this products in both coarse , fine and shaker

Choosing between coarse and fine variety... coarse is difficult to use as table salt, but does fine variety have exactly the same mineral content?

The way to be sure......Is grind your own course salt.....That is what I have done for years...the taste has been consistent throughout. Invest in a grinder, then all options are available for you to experiment with!
