Good story - cliffhanger
I enjoyed this story about Bryce and Lexi. In high school, Lexi wasn't in the popular crowd. Just a quiet girl with a couple of good friends. Bryce on the other hand, was very popular being on the football team, having excellent grades and being the mayor's son. Lexi was secretly in love with Bryce so when he went off to war, she sent him letters only signing them Miss. She didn't want him to know she was writing them. When Bryce returned he wanted to find Miss. She seemed to understand him and her letters had gotten him through rough times so he needed to find this woman. I liked Lexi though I did feel sorry for her as a teen. If she had only known then that what she had thought about the popular kids not noticing her was wrong. In fact, they envied her relationship with Luke. He was Lexi's best friend, so she didn't notice he was gorgeous like the other girls did.It was nice to see the changes in Lexi and Bryce when they meet again four years later. It was interesting to see how all the secrets were brought out. This story ends with so many questions that I guess it would be called a cliffhanger ending. Even though I would love to get the answers, I won't buy the next book. I really don't like cliffhanger endings and there are too many books out there that do end so I'll read them instead. That's just my feeling on this so if you don't mind cliffhangers, you will love this book.

So-so and shallow
The premise seemed good. I might have liked it if I could respect the characters more. But come on. Twenty-two-year-olds carrying a torch for their high school crushes, hardly ever thinking of anyone else. The secondary characters Luke and Anna were ironically more developed than the so-called heroine. At least they had a life, some passions and interests other than to get laid by their dream lover. They actually cared about other people--and animals!Bryce could be forgiven for his screwed up behavior given all that he went through in the war. His problems make Lexi's--suffocating mom, insecurity about her looks--seem minor, and you can't help but see her as shallow for obsessing over them. Ultimately, she really is shallow. She says she's a reader but we never see her crack open a book, quote one, or even recommend something better to Bryce than Fifty Shades of Grey. And how can you respect her? After a couple of make-out sessions, she exposes herself to Bryce when he drops by her house, without waiting for a kiss or an explanation of why he was there. Supposing someone can drop lifelong insecurity in just two days due to magical kisses, it still seems slutty. Is it fair to men to assume they only want one thing? And talk about being desperate to lose your virginity. How about building some intimacy first? See, shallow. She deserves the blah sex (which was described in just two lines that are the opposite of poetic, pretty disappointing given that the kisses were described in such romantic detail). And it's disturbing she was so desperate for it she didn't care if he had protection, which they had plenty of time to think about given they drove from place to place to find a spot to do it. That's just stupid--to plan for a place but not what you need when you get there. In the end, though, what bothered me most was the lies the author sold us. High school geeks were not in all probability secretly admired by their classmates for their looks. Their brains and wit maybe. While the intention to lift the confidence of wallflowers like Lexi might be good, it's a pretty unrealistic way of doing it. Plus, all the emphasis on appearances and sex appeal is, again, shallow.Click here to Reply or Forward2.34 GB (15%) of 15 GB usedManageTerms - PrivacyLast account activity: 0 minutes agoDetails

I'm scarred by the ending!
Confused, heartbroken, angry, annoyed, happy, excited! Those are just a few of the emotions I felt reading this book. I don't tend to read reviews before I read a book so I didn't read any before I read Scarred, but I noticed it had a pretty high star rating and several friends said it was a very enjoyable read. I have to agree, but I felt as though emotionally the book took me all over the place. This was both good and bad. At some points I found myself rooting for certain characters and in other parts I was so annoyed with them that I wanted to choke them through the screen. I enjoyed the book overall and the storyline however the betrayal in the book frustrated me because there really wasn't amends made and I'm hoping that is cleared up in the sequel. I am so glad I didn't read this before the sequel was published or I would have been soooo mad. The cliffhanger ending literally had me looking for more pages in the book. I thought there is no way that is the end and how can the author possibly do this to us. I will be reading the sequel right away becaus wi have to know what happens and get the answers to the cliffhanger ending. The only other thing would say I didn't like is the level of maturity of the characters. I felt like their age didn't match their behavior. I think they acted as if they were still in high school and definitely not ages 22 - 23. Overall I would recommend this book to others because I did enjoy the storyline and it was a really quick, engaging read. I can't wait to read the next book!

Enjoyable book, but paperback not value for money!!!
Another really good book by JS COOPER, very romantic and a good story of a girl who had a crush on a boy in high school and she never thought he noticed her.He went into the Military and she wrote him letters and they were writing to eachother for over a year and she decided to stop. 3 years later after her letters stopped,he comes back to town from the Military full Honour discharge!!He wants to put some wrongs right and ask for forgiveness, he also wants to find the girl that wrote him those letters.Lexi the girl in this story is thrilled when she hears he is back in town and wants to tell him how much she has always liked/loved him and to tell him it was her that wrote those letters, but will she tell him? will they end up together? things aren't quite as they seem, a very gripping book. But on the downside it does end with a cliff hanger and you have to read book 2 (healed)to hear what happens.I'm reviewing the kindle edition which i got free and book 2 (healed) is ยฃ2.50 Well worth a read!!!If i was buying the paperback version I wouldn't think it was good value for money as it is quite short and then you have to purchase book 2!!

Disapointing
I enjoyed the first half of this book and found myself reading it quite quickly but when I reached half way i found the story slightly unrealistic. There seemed to be too many secrets and tragedies that entwinded the characters for my liking, i'd have prefered to just concentrate on one or two. The book ends on a cliff hanger and I wish I wasn't the sort of person that NEEDS to finish a story as now I need to read the sequel. This was a pretty short book and i feel that the two books could and should have been made into one. Not a bad story on the whole, easy to read but i felt it was a bit unrealistic and I couldn't relate to any of the characters.

Wounds that run deep
Can you be in love with a figment of your imagination. Lexi has been in love with Bryce for so long she believes her day dreams. She has two best friends in Luke and Anna and quite frankly she is so caught up in her own fantasy they are there for her more than she is there for them.Bryce comes home from war a different man and he has secrets, they all have secrets and if they could all just be honest with one another it may just work out in the end. This book sets up the next book perfectly and leaves you with a cliff hanger. Enjoyed it enormously

Choppy
This book was terrible - it was choppy and immaturely written. It has veryyyyy dubious and pretty terrible messaging on r.ape. The characters were cardboard cut outs and there was no chemistry between any of them. There are only 2 things bearable about it - one is the character Luke and the other that itโs a quick read.

An OK read
2.5 starsThis book was ok, but it really wasn't all that special. To be honest i was a bit disappointed in it because it has the potential to be so much better even with the cliff hanger ending.I am really hoping that the second book in the series is that so better than this.
