Hat's off , Lid Up (Toilet Lid) to the Iron Out Group !
I read quite a few (not all) of the reviews on the Tablets for the Tank, but I read enough that I could see many of the other Reviewers had the same type of situation as mine as I had tried nearly everything I could think of short of cutting the Water Supply off, draining the tank & bowl completely & then trying to scrub it out that way. I hesitated to do so because I have a metal shut off valve connected to PVC (plastic) pipe & I knew if I ever got that leaking I would have to get it fixed right away to be able to turn the Water Supply back on. I was thinking I may have to get a new toilet because I had tried several different cleaners up to & including the Iron Out Powder. What I ran into was that pouring Comet, Iron Out Powder, Liquid Cleaner etc was the Water that was left in the Bowl just diluted the effectiveness of the different cleaners without draining the bowl. With the Iron Out Tablets in & after flushing the last time at Night-letting it set overnight & then scrubbing it 1st thing in the Morning I could see it had already started making a difference in that it was breaking down the Lime or Calcium build up in the bowl along with some HEAVY scrubbing to go along with it. A tip to some of the readers : get You a piece of Wood with a sharp edge to it & You can scrub the bowl with that & it won't scratch up the porcelain of the bowl. A regular toilet bowl brush with the nylon/plastic bristles is useless to use on something like this ! In the Mornings I would scrub with the piece of Wood till it seemed to quit working & I would get back to it the next Morning as little by little the Iron Out was breaking down the minerals in stages overnight. In Time it may very well break it down on its own, but I had looked at it so long I am desperate in getting it out as quickly as possible, & Iron Out is helping Me do that with the heavy scrubbing also. This is the ONLY Product that has Helped Me get this far on to the way to getting rid of the stain. I would say it has helped dissolve at least 95% along with the heavy scrubbing in about a Week now. I will continue with the way I have been doing it, & it should be gone within a Weeks time I'd say. Iron Out Manufacturers PLEASE do not change the ingredients of Your Product (If It Ain't Broke Don't Fix It), & as long as I have Well Water I'm planning on using Your Product as long as it is available even after the stain/mineral buildup is gone as a preventive measure. So Yes, It Does Indeed Work ! Buy It & along with Time & Work I feel pretty sure You'll find it would Help in Your case. Best, PawPaw C

Works better than other things I have tried & will continue to use!
I am sorry I didn't take a picture of the HORRIBLE nightmare this toilet was in BEFORE I treated it!!! The well we have has A LOT OF RUST!!! it also started having the BLACK MANGANESE with the rust!! IT had a problem with the ring of rust that could NOT be cleaned or removed. The water looked cloudy and tinted with rust. I tried everything and it would get the bowl clean but the rust stains were still there from the spouts around the bowl and the ring was still there. THEN the bowl below the ring and in the downward part of the toilet STARTED TURNING PITCH BLACK!! You couldn't see the bottom of the bowl! I was afraid to even use it, and didn't want ANYONE else to use it. It was embarassing. I tried scrubbing with Comet, ALL sorts of cleaners, I EVEN DUMPED A LITER OF COKE into the bowl with NO success. I found IRON OUT gel on the rust all over my shower stall and it worked great. I also had luck with Bartender's Friend but the gel worked a little better with less scrubbing. THAT WAS when I decided to try it for the toilet. I got the powder and turned the water valve off and flushed it. I used extra and scrubbed it all over and then poured some extra over into the the bottom and left it all night. In the morning I turned the valve on and scrubbed some more ( I bought a special scrub pad, there is a Toilet Ring Remover scrubber pad on Amazon for around $7. ) Then I flushed it. The rust ring is still there but the stains from the spouts around the bowl are almost gone and I actually could see a lot of white! There is only two small areas of black in the tube that goes out at the bottom of the bowl. I would say it is almost 90% better! The rust ring has been there since I moved in 5 years ago and it was there for long before I moved it when the house sat vacant with that rusty water in the bowl for YEARS before I moved in. So I put the IRON OUT tank cleaner puck in the tank to keep it from going all the way back to the black creepy bowl it was . SO far, SO good! I am just going to keep working on it with the Iron Out powder cleaning regularly and use the cleaning discs in between. It has done such a great job this first cleaning that I think it can only get better each time. I knew there was NO WAY all those years of neglect and well trouble was going to fix just once over night so I am just going to continue to treat it. After the difference I saw after just one use was good enough to make me want to keep at it. I know a lot of people have rusty wells but not many have the BLACK MANGANESE that STICKS and is near impossible to get off. I saw it have a lot of that taken off and nothing else has EVER done that!!

Meh.
I don’t really have an exact way to monitor how long it takes stains to build up with vs without this. But based on observation it doesn’t seem they do all that much if anything for keeping regular toilet spotless white. They do smell nice though.

Iron Out
The effectiveness is not what I thought. If you tank is black inside it just made the black flakes end up in the toilet bowl every time I flushed. I buy iron out in powder like from and clean my toilet with that. I have well water so it cleans better than other cleaners for me.
