Can you use it for a mma ring?

Is it solid? Yes. All depends on installation. If doing an octagon you may have a problem with the angle. In the box is only 90 degree hinges/devices.

For more privacy can you attach a mesh?

I’m sure there is a way... wind wise though I wouldn’t recommend the entire (height wise) fence. There is wind grade mesh however, that is out there with metal rings. The mesh is made to order. I’d say zip tie through metal rings onto fence. If all else fails you could just drill a screw into the metal and secure that way. The only way to go is to use mesh with metal rings. Side note there is a fancier name for the rings I just can’t think of it.
