What is the country of origin?  Who does the quality control?  Is it an independent company?  How do we know it is doing what it says?

The company that makes the Tap Master Artesian is The Perfect Water out of Arizona.  It is an independent company and they do their own quality control.  We moved from an urban area to a rural one in the past year, and I did a lot of research to determine what we would need for this house (we did a substantial renovation of this property).  We have been using the system for over a year now, and I have been very pleased. Our plumber told us this was one of the best RO systems around.  There was a very noticeable difference in the taste and smell of the water after we installed the system.  I just ordered the replacement filters and will have them installed.  If you get this system, be sure to order the permeate pump as it helps to fill the under sink tank quicker when you are using a lot of water (like for a big pot of pasta). The annual filter change set is $79.95 (Iset-tma) and the membrane is $56.00 which should be changed every 3-5 years depending on water conditions. Most users on municipal water supplies can expect this maintenance schedule.

I believe a rubber diaphragm that is rated for purified water so to not have any chemicals leaching into the filtered water.
