IT'S MADE OF GIRDERS
Are you a weak, feeble human being? Do you long for the strong caress of distilled Scottish strength? Do you want to try a soda that is the only soda in the world that outsells Coca-Cola in its country of production? DO YOU WANT TO BE MADE OF IRON? THEN BUY IRN-BRU. Made since the 900s by warrior monks in Orkney, this potent battle potion has been the mainstay of the Scottish people for over a millenia. It infuses them with the strength of at least ten bears, or one Glaswegian on his ear on Buckfast trying to fight his da. This tipple is what fueled the Scots Fusiliers through hundreds of battles, even though they didn't want to be there. It's been mixed with every scotch known to man, including the expensive ones, and no one can call it a waste of scotch. Also... IT'S MADE FROM GIRDERS. That's right, every bottle of Barr's Patent Irn Bru Strengthening Serum infuses your bones with iron, making you triple in weight and become immune to bone breakage and fall damage. It makes you grow twice the blood cells you need so you can share some with your friends. Go ahead, share some spare blood while on this stuff; don't even need to be matching blood types because the blood will be IB+ (Irn Bru+). That's the true universal donor. Great for nursing mothers who want their babies to be able to throw a caber or a car by two years old. Also great for single women for dropkicking bad dates into geosynchronous orbit. Great for balding men because it tastes great. Can't do much about the hair but you'll be able to bench-press a bus and that's better than hair! That's right, folks, this stuff is great for everything. Don't ask what the flavor is, no one knows. And remember... IT'S MADE FROM GIRDERS.

Scotland prep
Going to Scotland next month and in preparation for the trip have heard more and more about Irn-Bru. I read up on the "flavor profile" and found that it seemed to be a somewhat polarizing beverage, at least among non-Scots. The US price was a bit steep for a six-pack but placed the order anyhow. Having been at least somewhat prepared based on what I've found online, the initial taste was not all that appealing. However, I continued drinking and enjoyed it more with each sip. After finishing the first bottle, I was not sure I'd order again or even drink it on the trip. However, I had a second bottle and was hooked. Maybe it's one of those acquired taste things but it did not take long. I'll just be sure not to mix it with whisky and - as someone said - ruin both the Bru and the whisky. I'll enjoy a bit of each but keep them segregated.

A little taste of Scotland
Ever since our trip to Scotland my grandson craves Irn-Bru. He insists it is a unique taste. I don't drink any carbonated drinks, so I can only share his opinion, but I know he loves when I order this for him. Minus 1 star because of the high cost.

Inexplicably good ****written pre-recipe change****
I feel the need to add this disclaimer - this review was written before the recipe was changed and C@ncer... oops, I mean aspartame was added as the sweetener. If you can find Irn Bru 1901, I still recommend. The flavor has been described as a combination of rust, battery acid and pure magic. For the record: it does NOT taste like bubble gum. Those of you who have had fluoride treatments at the dentist when you were a kid that were supposed to be bubble gum flavored but tasted nothing like bubble gum, this does have a similar smell, which I think is the cause of the confusion. After your first sip of Irn Bru, ya may not be sure if you like it but you continue to drink. Next thing you know, yer voice is deeper & ya seem to be speaking a bit faster, yer chest and arms start to swell as if you just did a hundred push-ups. Those of you who have even a trace of Scottish ancestry will start checking prices of flights to Edinburgh. After finishing yer first bottle, you're still not sure if you like it; 55 minutes later you open another bottle and take a swig of the most refreshing thing you've ever had in yer life. There are now only two drinks in your life; Irn Bru & Glenlivet, but only because it makes yer blood boil to hear people mispronounce Glenfiddich.

The soda of Scotland
You have to try it. Youโll either like it or not. It has its own flavor. The closest American soda I can compare it to is an orange soda mixed with ginger ale, but not as sweet or strong flavored. I was told in Scotland that it is a good hangover cure. Since I donโt drink alcohol I canโt vouch for that claim.

First time in over 30 years. Opened a bottle, smelled it and my mouth watered. So good!

Not too sweet, not too bitter, just right.
As a product this IrnBru is delicious. It is difficult to describe the flavour. It is not orange flavour, despite its colour. It would be closer to describe it as a cream soda with a tinge of candy thrown in, but somehow isn't too sweet.

Flat product
Not one of the bottles had any carbonation in them. Everyone of them was flat. Would not recommend. Very disappointed.
