high quality craftsmanship
I have a smaller pond (1000gallons, 7x15) and I have full grown, large breed, SA cichlids.. so finding any kind of hides or decor is a challenge. I bought this bc I love the other pieces I have bought from Penn Plex (the maker), especially the large castle with side A & B, bc it’s enormous and perfect for huge fish. I am aware of the given dimensions for this castle, but knowing the company, I just envisioned it to be bigger. It’s 10” but it’s dwarfs itself next to their 2 part 18” castle. I have plenty of Convict fry at bottom who would probably love it, but tbh money is tight right now, so i’m not trying to buy them another decoration when they have plenty. This was specifically for the big fish to hide behind, bc it is 10”H, but after opening it and inspecting it, I can confidently say they will never pay any attention to this bc it offers them no protection or privacy to sleep, so i’m returning it. If I had a smaller tank in my house though… this would easily be my first choice because any smaller fish would love every part of this… but i’m talking very small like tetras or cory’s or something like that. The archway openings are maybe 1 inch at the most, so not even an adult convict would be able to get in there. Actually, I just measured and they are exactly 3/4 of an inch wide.. that’s why I am saying very tiny fish. It’s not a matter of just them fitting, it’s a matter of is it big enough for them to swim fast at to try to escape without brushing against something and hurting themselves and their pec fins. So any tiny fish will get the most benefit from this, but it’s not cheap, however it is worth the money if you have the right fish for it. Or maybe you just want it lol it’s a great piece with insane attention to detail. If I was really into mid evil castles or whatever this might be cool. and FYI I have one side of the large castle that has been outside underwater for 3 years and still looks great when it’s clean. It’s the exact same as this castle just bigger. I didn’t buy the second half until 6 months ago (bc I didn’t know it existed) and yes you can tell one side is older but not as much as you would expect from a hand painted piece.. and this piece also will last years and years, especially not in sunlight like mine is. Everything I have ever bought from this company is A+, even their 3 piece spongebob aquarium set 😭🤣. This just doesn’t suit my needs right now 🤷🏻♀️ maybe i’ll buy it again in the future but more than likely i’ll just get another side A or B or both of the extra large castle they have. It’s two different sides that look fine by themselves but when you add the other side it turns into one massive castle that connects by a bridge that becomes one large bridge when they are next to each other. So cool lol you should all check that out.. it’s about $45 each side but sometimes you can get a deal on “used like new” resale. Penn Plex is a very reliable company and id buy anything they make it I liked it… it’s absolutely worth the extra $10 or whatever more it is than their competitors.

An Absolutely Stunning Centerpiece for a Large Aquarium!
I purchased both parts of this wizard's castle for my 80-gallon, 4-foot-long aquarium, and it looks amazing. Together, the pieces span about two feet, taking up half the length of my tank. It also occupies about 9 inches of the tank's 18-inch depth, so it's a substantial decoration. The attention to detail and coloring are fantastic. It looks even better submerged in water, and the river flowing under the bridge appears very realistic from a distance. The green moss at the base is a nice touch, and over time, a little natural algae has grown on it, giving it the feel of an ancient, weathered castle. Everyone who sees it is awestruck by how cool it looks. I will agree with some other reviewers on a few minor issues. Some of the windows are a bit small, and smaller fish could potentially get stuck. I initially blocked them with tiny pebbles and now plan to use filter sponge. There was also a small, sharp edge inside one of the openings from manufacturing. Since these items can often arrive broken, I decided to keep it and simply file the sharp piece down rather than risk an exchange. When it first arrived, it had a slight oily sheen and a paint smell. I washed it thoroughly and soaked it for a full day. Although the sheen wasn't completely gone, I put it in the tank, and any smell or residue vanished very quickly. The interior of the castle is hollow, and the bridge forms a tunnel connecting the two halves, which my fish love. My clown loaches have claimed it as their private castle and hide inside whenever they feel startled. Overall, if your tank is large enough to accommodate it, I highly recommend this piece. Be mindful that it takes up significant real estate that could be used for live plants, but the visual impact is worth it. Despite the minor imperfections, the quality, detail, and enjoyment it brings to my fish make this a solid five-star purchase.

Whimsical fish escape
I bought this fish castle decoration for my 10-gallon tank, and it’s been a hit — both with me and my fish! The design is super cute and adds a fairytale feel to the aquarium. It looks even better in person than in the photos, with great detail and vibrant color that really stands out underwater. The castle has multiple openings and little hideouts, which my betta and bottom-dwellers love to explore and rest inside. It’s made of aquarium-safe resin, and I didn’t notice any issues with water quality after adding it. No sharp edges either, which is important for delicate fins. It’s a perfect size — not too big to overwhelm the tank, but large enough to make a statement and provide shelter for the fish. A great addition if you want to create a fun, magical theme in your aquarium! Highly recommend for anyone looking to add personality to their tank while giving their fish a cozy place to hide.

Really happy with it!
I was waiting and waiting and waiting for Part A to be available and didn't hesitate to purchase when it was. It's hollow inside so my fish and pelco freaking love it. It looks so cool in my Harry Potter themed tank. Fits perfectly in tank, 60 gallon. Worth every penny. I got Part B at a store and spent a long time searching for A; so so pleased with it.

Stunning but has some safety issues
I love this piece! Unfortunately I’m going to have to make some modifications. Not only are there some sharp edges around the openings I had to sand off with a nail file, but there are spots a fish will easily get trapped in. The towers are hollow and do not have exit points the same size as the hole inside. Most of these are wide enough that I’m fairly certain my plecos and bristle nose catfish will be able to back out of, except for one. The little tower off by itself is hollow and barely wide enough for my thumb just past then entrance, meaning the fish can get in but without enough space to turn around will likely not be able to get back out. Thankfully I’ve learned to inspect things before putting them into my tank, so I’ll be working on a way to plug this tower with aquarium silicone. Just beware that if you have anything besides loaches you’ll want to make some modifications. Can’t wait to see the other section of the castle as it hasn’t come in yet. Hopefully it doesn’t have places I have to plug as well.

Good looking castle
It's perfect for our 60 gallon tank. The fish love it. Wish we could get the other half of the castle. We've tried everywhere and cannot find one. But it looks good on its own. We put a little dragon reading a book near it. Looks very cute.

Absolutely Spectacular
This is the left side of the two pieces. It is RRW9 and the right side is RRW10. They don't completely match up in the center as one is higher than the other. I took a large file and spent almost 2 hours hand sanding the bottom of the right section until it was level with the left side. I just couldn't put such a beautiful piece into my aquarium unless it showed off to perfection. One other thing to mention is the colors are beautiful and they seem to come alive once the decoration gets wet. The outside of the ornament itself is pristine but I can't say that for the inside. The removal of this piece from the mold must be difficult as the underside and inside of each piece has very very sharp edges and points. Unfortunately the manufacturer has not taken the care to make the inside fish safe. You will need to take the time to file down these sharp edges or I guarantee your little friends will tear their bodies up. It wasn't difficult, the material where the sharp areas are is quite easily sanded into a powder it just takes time. The sharp places continue clear up into the spires of the castle towers where no sanding can be reached so I recommend filling the towers and small spaces with filter media not only to keep the fish from getting scratched but also keep the fish from swimming clear up to the top and getting stuck. Eels and other snake like aquatics will just love to get into the very top and if they die there, you will have one hard time removing them as the space is limited. The packaging was great, each came separately but I don't know why one was delivered by FedEx and the other USPS as I ordered them both together. I have this decoration in a 55 gallon tank and it measures 22 1/2" long, 15" high and 11" deep. For those of you who are contemplating this purchase I have attached pictures of the sides of the shipping box so you can be sure you are ordering the right items since I know the descriptions are quite confusing. I hope this review helps you in deciding whether this decoration is right for you. I have never spent so much for an aquarium ornament but in all honesty, it is well worth every penny! I AM NOT getting paid for this review, I am just an aquarium enthusiast like yourself and make many of my online decisions by what others say in their reviews.
