How do i connect the light?

Hi we were unable to connect the light part of the clock. I contacted the supplier about this and they told me it had to be hard wired into the mains supply and as I didn’t want to have to employ an electrician to do this we have just put it on the wall as a clock. They did however give us a refund as this wasn’t fully explained in there advertising
