Very nice thread burner. I replaced the burner I used it for fly tying because it wasn't reliable. This works great for this type of work. I have been using it for a couple years now. Just need to make sure you use a fresh battery.

I use this for ending or changing thread when doing my seed beading. It ends the thread, and keeps it from shredding or from coming loose. It takes a little time to learn how to use correctly, but one you learn how to use it, it works really good. Not for use by children as it can catch the thread on fire if not used correctly.

awesome and convenient to use pen! would buy again. You really dont need the super expensive ones, in most applications this will do just fine.

I wanted a pen that would enable me to add wax to a wax carved model and this item does that very well. I had to practice with it a little to learn how to do it but it is an effective tool. It just adds a little wax at a time which is what I wanted it for since my model is small. I think you could probably add larger amounts of wax with different tips which you can order. I found that the easiest way to add wax is by using wax sprues. They seem to be easier to melt. I can see how this pen could also be helpful with removing wax from a model as well. It heats up really fast and is easy to use.

Well let's see... I ordered this pen because I needed a wax pen for sculpting and this was the cheapest. I guess I didn't realize what I was getting, because this isn't something that is really useful for that. It has a thin wire tip, which is where the heat comes out, and if it's bent too often, it breaks,which severs the connection, i.e. no more working wax pen. Basically it was the cheapest pen I could find and it turned out to be worth about as much as I paid. So all in all,I'm not really satisfied with this product, maybe if it had thicker tip replacements or something it would be worth it, as of now it's not good. Don't spend your money on it if you're looking for a sculpting tool, just buy the expensive one that looks better.

This product was recommended to me years ago. I wish I had bought one sooner! For wax modeling, it's priceless. I was using the old exacto-knife-in-the-alcohol-lamp technique previously - thinking that it was probably good enough. Not even close. The Max Wax pen is so much more precise, quick to use and handy that it has changed my casting/jewelry designs. Wonderful little tool, and a single AA battery lasts longer than you'd think in there. Love it!

does a good job but you will need to buy batteries in bulk to keep this thing operational for any length of time. I use it to trim waxed polyester cord for leather work and I get maybe, 15 uses before the battery craps out. each use is maybe 5 to 8 seconds long. do the math.
