A useful tool (relative to its price) for 4-gauge and 2-gauge battery cables. Note that the blade is *free-spinning*. It appears to spin as you adjust it up and down, but that is just friction - you can orient the blade with the tip of the wire you are about to trim. Which brings me to a trick to using it - it's best to aim the triangular cross section of the blade at the open end of the spring-loaded clamp, because in heavy insulation it doesn't self-align itself easily. Then, spin the handle such that the open end of the clamp is *trailing* the rotation. Spin the handle 5-10 rotations to make a clean cut through thick insulation, which can take noticeable force. If you align the blade correctly the blade's sharp cutting edge will slice nicely through the insulation (you can look through the gap at the open end of the clamp to see the cut), otherwise it will 'balk' at cutting. I did not find that pulling it off the end of the cut insulation worked well to slice it open, and I think it might be hard on the blade as it needs to turn 90° to do so. Instead, I just opened the clamp and removed the tool, then used the 'teeth' of a common multi-hole stripper to bite into the cut piece and wiggle it slowly off the cable. Once the cut piece is 1/4" removed, reposition the multi-hole stripper to the very end of the insulation to be removed and pull - it will come off easily. I've trimmed about 50 short pieces of insulation off of battery cables for a solar battery and it saves a lot of time and does a neat job. Getting a perfect depth adjustment on the blade is trial and error, so if you have a couple of different insulation-thickness cable types, consider buying two of these tools and label which cable they are set to trim. The Weicon stripper isn't a perfect tool but for the price it does what it need to do. I'm not sure how long the cutting blade will last and I don't believe it is replaceable. There are no instructions in the box and no warranty is mentioned on the box.

I was surprised how well it worked on Marine cable and low smoke cable. Had a greenlee one and this one works better in my opinion, just bought a second one for my other tool bag. Going to definitely buy more when these get dull and need replacement

This is not a quick use tool. It does the job. It does take about 15-20 turns while slightly adjusting the blade. It will not cut all the way through but you can bend the wire jacket and pull it off. It’s better than using strippers. You risk cutting the inner wires being to fast with strippers.

This just didn’t work great. It works, but not great. I’m going to have to upgrade to the more expensive one. I don’t know what it wrong with it to be honest, but it’s really harder to use than expected. Maybe I have the wrong expectations, but I’ll share my experience nonetheless. It is adjustable, but still didn’t help in some of the strips.

don't try to use this for any cable other than perfectly round cable!! It will not cut romex or semi-round entrance sheathing. Only round (like a wooden dowel). I was too embarrassed to return it so I'll throw it in the junk drawer.***********UPDATE*************I completely didn't understand how to use this tool. I watched another video and got educated. It is a wonderful tool for stripping romex sheathing, both length and making circular cuts. I knew I had to update my review and make it right.

Perfect to get my fiber out of the plastic tube

This unit is cheaply made, feels flimsy, and plain and simple, did not work at all.The adjuster knob on mine was not smooth, but seemed to have a huge amount of resistance, and would then yield (sort of "snap" past the resistance, but not a clean snap as one would expect with a ratchet or detent), and encounter tons of resistance again. Before you ask, no wire was in the stripper when the knob was being turned.The knob on mine also stuck out of the body more than is shown in the photos, so I don't know if mine was defective or not.When I tried to use it, it did nothing to 6-gauge HXXW wire I tried to strip...it didn't even as much as mar the insulation.This *may* work for wire with softer insulation, but was completely useless for XHHW.

Heel moeilijk in te regelen, eenmaal juist, gaat het bij de minste tegendruk weer dwars staan. Echt weggegooid geld, begrijp niet dat dit zo hoog scoort...

Abisoliermesser für KabelIch habe sonst immer alle Kabel mit dem Teppichmesser abisoliert aber auf Dauer nervte es mich doch ein wenig.Mit dem Weicon Abisolierer geht es natürlich viel schnell.Unten kann man mit der Stellschraube die Länge der Klinge einstellen, bzw. wie weit das mini Messer in das Kabel eintaucht.Damit lässt es sich dann z.B. perfekt auf ein 3x1,5² einstellen und die isolieren fliegt nur noch so weg ohne die einzelnen Adern zu verletzten.Schöner Griff womit man auch einfach durch das Kabel ziehen kann und der Bügel oben baut genug Gegendruck auf damit das Kabel nicht herausspringt oder ähnliches.Sehr gutes Produkt!
