This is a good instruction book

Great book. I purchased to help me organize a beginners pastel class and i also learned some new things.

This is a very good book of instruction on how to do pastel drawing and painting. I am just beginning to learn to do pastel painting and I found the book to be very helpful. It has many nice photographs of things to draw--I especially liked all the paintings of a great variety of skies. The reason I gave the book a 4 instead of a 5 is because the photographs are so small--larger photos would have been more helpful.

I used the Barron's book on Watercolor and learned a great deal. I knew their approach to be excellent for learning techniques to obtian believeable textures, metallic, glass, velvet, fur and the like. This book is also well written for Pastels. This is the best place to obtain a good foundation in techniques.

I enjoyed the book a lot and was pleased with all the information. I was not pleased that the book came in a box that showed no damage but when opened it, the cover was crunched as if it had been dropped before being put in the box. Because I needed the book for use immediately, I did not return it but it is the first time I have even had something like this happen from Amazon.

This is the best book I have on the details for learning how to use pastels for beginners and experienced artists. The authors clearly describe and illustrate techniques, art principles, medium options, substrates, and other important information that help the artist explore the wonders of pastels.

This is a great book for beginner and the more advanced as well. Its well laid out, the techniques shown are well written and illustrated. The subject of pastel painting interests me and this book has a great section on that. Highly recommend this book for anyone interested in pastels.
