Sound great, phenomenal build quality and comfort
I have been using these headphones for over five months now and I love them! I used to have Klipsch Image One headphones and while the sound was great, the build quality and comfort left more to me desired. The Crossfade M-100 Master solves both of these issues and sound slightly better than the Image One. The Image One was made of plastic and my most recent pair broke twice in two different spots around where the earcups meet the headband (I glued them back together the first time this happened). I take meticulous care of my things and it isn’t like they broke because I sat on them or something like that. The Crossfade M-100 Master is made of metal in these areas and so I don’t expect these to ever break in the same way. Another problem with the Image One is that, once the cushions began deteriorating, I couldn’t find replacements from Klipsch. Not only did they look unsightly, but I would find small pieces of the cushion in my hair! I can purchase new cushions easily from V-MODA’s website for $15! The last issue I had with the Image One in terms of build quality is that the cable could not be disconnected from the headphones. Once the cable began falling apart, I essentially needed to replace the headphones entirely. With the Crossfade M-100 Master, not only is the cable seemingly much stronger, but it is also removable. If it fails in the future, again I can go on V-MODA’s website and purchase a variety of new cables in a variety of different colors. Their cables also only connect to one earcup, instead of both like the Image One. This makes the Crossfade M-100 Master less restrictive since I don’t have a cable dangling under my chin like a chin strap to a helmet. I expect these headphones will last me an exceptionally long time! The final issue I had with the Image One was with comfort. If I had them on for more than two hours, my ears would start to hurt. I would need to take them off to give my ears a break. The first few times I wore the Crossfade M-100 Master I experienced slight discomfort after extended listening sessions, but that issue quickly disappeared. Perhaps the headband loosened up a bit with use? I have since enjoyed many months of extended listening sessions with zero discomfort! You do pay more money for this increase in build quality and comfort, but for how much I use these for TV shows, YouTube videos, and video games the investment is well worth it for me.

WOW
I got a pair of these for portable use in noisy places. I had the Sennheiser Momentum on-ear headphones and the Sennheiser Amperior headphones. I also have the NAD VISO M50. These are all excellent. In the summer, I'll wear the Sennheisers since they are cooler, being on-ear, and in winter, I will wear the V-Moda or the NAD, since they are warmer, being over-ear types. All of them are plenty efficient enough to be powered very well by any portable source without needing an extra amp. All of them will be comfortable, lthough, for the V-Moda, if your ears are large, the available ($20.00) XL ear pads from V-Moda will be absolutely necessary. The Amperior and V-Moda will be stable and stay in place on the head for very vigorous activity. The Sennheiser Momentum, and the NAD VISO, are stable on the head for moderate activity levels. They all offer terrific sound quality with wonderful deep bass, and great midranges and trebles. To differentiate between the NAD and the V-Moda, as they are both over-ear with similar closed can sonics, The V-Moda has slightly better details in the highs, and a bit more laid back mids than the NAD. They both have excellent bass that is well balanced and extends as low as you can hear, tight, flat, and with low distortion and no bloat. In both, the frequency response follows the Harmon curve closely, which means, they carry a good amount of weight in the lows, a natural sounding midrange, and nicely balanced brilliance in the highs. Either pair work well in imaging, and instrument separation and placement in the sound field. The V-Moda has a slightly smaller sound stage...very slightly, but more than makes up for that by the great detail and resolution it can produce in the image. If I were forced to pick one of these two headphones as the only ones I have, it would be a hard pick, since they are both so good. If I were able to EQ the NAD VISO M50 up 3dB in the top octave (over 10Khz) it could be my choice. Straight from any source, the V-Moda Crossfade M-100 Master is my pick, for sound, and style. It is better looking for public use, without sacrificing comfort or build quality, and has the edge in comfort and stability.

A more balanced/refined V-MODA sound
I've had nearly every pair of headphones that V-MODA has made throughout the years. I started with the M80 (on ear) which introduced me to the V-MODA sound, which I fell in love with. As a hip hop aficianado the emphasis on the lower end without muddying up the mids and highs was really a remarkable accomplishment, especially in an on-ear model. I used them for a few years until the update (The XS) came out and then the original M100. Both headphones refined previous models and added a lot more features (hello cliq-fold hinges) while keeping with the sound signature that V-MODA had established as their house sound. The original M100 was truly a work of art and for anyone that desired a little bass w/ their headphone, it was definitely a go-to recommendation. A few years has passed and the drivers in the M100s have evolved. There seems to be a much cleaner and balanced sound overall. The bass has been slightly reduced, but not enough for you to really notice without listening back to back with the original. It just seems like it's faster and tighter, which adds to the texture and responsiveness of the headphone. The mids and highs are a touch smoother with more articulation as well. The sound stage seems to be the same to me. So it really is just an evolution of the M100 sound...just refined V-MODA goodness. The only real downside to them is the fit...for me, the ear pads were too shallow and too narrow (even with the XL pads). So I was hoping that the Master version would fix that issue. They tried, and mostly got it right, but they are still a touch too narrow for prolonged use. I can listen for about an hour to an hour and a half before my ears need a break. If I could give 4.5 stars, that's what I would rate the Masters. I just wonder where V-MODA goes next given that Roland owns them completely. Are they even going to exist in 2020?

Great DJ/Audiophile Headphone... not built to last
Bought these 2 years ago after a ton of research and listening to my friends M-100's (non master) and really felt it struck an amazing balance of high fi quality sound (for closed back cans) and DJ usability. Sound Quality: - Amazing sound for headphones at this price point, very "smiley" in their sound signature but these were made to be used in a club. Sound stage is really nice, but not at the same level of an open back, but you get the benefits of passive noise cancellation, and big bass and clear mids and highs for when you are in the mix. Pair this with their in line DAC and any high fidelity streaming service... Chefs kiss. People should really listen to these before they waste their money on any beats thinking that is the only way to get good bass you can feel out of a headphone. In the club, when mixing, the sound isolation is amazing and the biggest selling point for myself. Very flexible headband make it where I don't need a swivel to monitor, and you can really separate your sound, or mix 100% in your headset. They get more than loud enough, and dont' really distort at levels that wont make your ears bleed lol. Build Quality: - These things are pretty solid, I have never felt like they were delicate or that I might break them. They seemed very well suited for the club and the carrying case gives you even more confidence. The cushions and headband clean up really well and after 2 years of use the pads and band look pretty much mint after a good wipe with dawn and water. There are some issues with the small plastic pieces that hold the headphones together but will get into that in the long term review section Flexibility: - 10/10... These things are great for a wired headset. They can be your study rig with the included accesories, your DJ rig if you add the coiled cable for flexibility, your work headset with their Directional Boom mic and cable extension, and also your HIFI retreat with the optional in line DAC that you will forget is there after your first use. These were the absolute best all around wired headphone that I could find at the time. You can get them to do anything you want, and you are rewarded with great sounds and also... style too. I couldn't be happier with them during the warranty period of 2 years. Long Term Durability. - Despite the glowing feedback above, I have recently learned about the limitations. Literally right at the 2 year mark right ear cup failed, and upon some searches, found many more with the same issue. The problem is supposedly solder related, and I'm exploring a self repair option, but for such a great and not cheap product, a little disappointed in their longevity at this price point. As mentioned above, also the plastic stays the hold the headband together where the adjustments for the ear cups are, are poorly engineered and the screws eventually cause stress fractures in the plastic, and the attachment points start to chip away. Thankfully this is only cosmetic, but I had a failure within 30 days, which isn't' great for a product at this price point. Support has been tough to get a response from and the default currently seems to be "throw them away and we will give you 20% off" as opposed to here we can sell you spare parts for a local repair. I'm in a strange place with these right now because I have all the accessories, but I'm genuinely debating if spending another $250 is the best path forward. I may consider the M200 wireless as a potential alternative, since it gives more flexibility with wireless and ANC... but again... I feel myself leaning towards giving another brand a shot as my flagship set of cans. I have supplemented with a set of Sennheiser HD25s and am happy with the build and isolation... but they are not HIFI at all... So i'm still in the same dilemma of an all around workhorse. Overall: - I would love to give these 6/5 stars, if a) they hadn't failed right at the warranty period along with a lot of others, and b) if the support structure was in place to at least tell me if I can get these fixed. I feel that despite the performance being rockstar status... that the disposable nature of these after 2 years for many, makes me want to consider other options. If you want amazing all around performers that give you big bass, MidFi sounds, and flexibility from the library, to the office, DJ booth, and beyond... take the plunge. But be ready to shell out $200 ($250 - 20% recovery discount from VModa) every couple of years to stay in the ecosystem.

company out of business
one star because of customer service. sound great, the problem is warranty two years? try none. be warned the v moda company is out of business the roland corp supposably took over but you get no answers from them and the v moda web site just takes you in loops pressing a link that says go here for warranty claims then says look in customer service then that link sends you right back to warranty claims.

Rich Full Sounding Set of Cans and Top Notch Build Quality
Amazing set of cans. People say these are for bass heads but I couldn’t disagree more. Yes they do have amazing bass but it’s not like having a 15” sub in your trunk. Couldn’t be more pleased with this purchase. I do a lot of recording within my home studio and am an avid gamer as well. Noise isolation is decent with the stock pads but I HIGHLY recommend going with the replacement pads by AHG. Sound quality is really good. I’ve owned my fair share of cans from audio technical to senheisser and these hands down are by far my favorite. Whether I’m in the studio tracking ( I mix with my LP6s ) making beats, watching a movie or enjoying a gaming session, these headphones give me the immersion that the others were always lacking. The bass is spot on giving you a nice FULL sound whatever your doing without being to overpowering. The build quality..... honestly...... I have yet to own a pair of headphones that are as well built as these while still retaining comfort for the user. Solid solid SOLID construction. Great job V-Moda on an amazing set of cans!!! Highly Recommended for anyone that does studio work ( hip hop, edm, rock ) is in to gaming or anyone that just wants an amazing headphones with amazing build quality that will truly immerse you into whatever your doing with a rich full sound.

$6 coiled cord avail from insignia... Love that bass, and that treble mmm mmmmm
Update: Found the "INSIGNIA 9' Coiled Auxiliary Audio 3.5mm Cable Black" fits perfectly, nice and tight!... although it is more like 4 feet, not 9 feet. Previously: I'm late 40s and have not treated my ears particularly well so these are a real treat. Really love the bass and treble on these, and mids too. Def have a V frequency curve a little bit I would say but not bad. edit: Compared to some other headphones I own Beats Studio3 Wireless Bluetooth - Since the Beats are wireless noise-canceling bluetooth it's not really a fair comparison but the Vmoda has much more bass and treble and sounds noticeably better. The Vmoda especially destroys the Beats in the bass department. Numark Red Wave Carbon headphones - The Numarks sound great, better than than the Beats, but the Vmoda sound significantly better than both of them. Sony MDR7506 - These were a bit older, the Vmodas definitely sound much better (as do the Numarks)

I don't understand why. .
I compared the m100 master, to my sons m200 that's a few years old. Why are they calling this m100, master? It CANNOT be used in any mastering or monitoring, because it sounds MUDDY and has lower resolution than the m200. I do not remember the original m100 sounding like this. It was more "V" shaped. I do remember the original having similar clarity of the m200, with more bass, but not the bass muddyness of this new "master" version. WHY haven't they improved the sound CLARITY in all these years, in this revision? It seems they muddied it by just adding more uncontrolled bass, and lowering the trebles. Literally a koss portaPro can sound more clear. My old Sony 1am2 has as much bass, so it also cannot be used for a studio monitoring, BUT yet it is much more clear and resolving. The m100 master is a very beautiful headphones, and only the clicking headband sounds a bit smoother, but remains a high quality built headphone, yet for some reason the driver really sucks . I cannot imagine how much worse the LP would sound, if this m100 is supposed to be better. So do not expect best sound from this headphone. I am now debating on returning, or keeping just to use as a donor headphones and swap out the drivers. Yet none of these vmoda versions mention above have great clarity. The m200 has decent avg clarity, but good neutrality. That's it. I am torn because they are so well built and beautiful, fold very compact and have an exceptional travel case, but I may switch to a cheap Sony for monitoring. I would say they are worth it only when on sale, because the new sound is sub-par.

Well Researched.
I am a bass player, needed a pair of headphones to replace a pair of Shure's that were less than 6 months old and already buzzing like crazy, buy cheap buy twice as they say. I spent a few hours researching and these Moda's kept popping up as the best for bass players. I have neighbours to the left of me, neighbours to the right, I'm stuck in the middle so obviously volume is an issue. These Moda's, whilst pricey are exceptional in my opinion and well, well worth the money. Mostly metal construction and unlike some other comments, I found them quite comfy. they sure seem built to last. Granted I've only had them for a couple of hours but I can tell you now, I had to adjust all settings on my amp and guitar to get that sweet Joe Dart sound I'm currently loving. Bass is chunky without being muddy and doesn't flood the mids and highs which are well represented. Sound reproduction is accurate and really pleasing to my lugholes. I'm not into technicalities but they sound pretty awesome to me. They are a considered purchase but you get what you pay for and you get an exceptional pair of headphones. If you're a bass player, can afford them and need to practice quietly, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend these.

Excellent acoustic and spacious sound
At first, I thought bass was taking too much place on the songs. I am listening on Deezer hifi 1411 mpbs quality. I changed the audio balance to neutral, and it's more perfect for me. I especially think the acoustic songs sound amazing. Very spacious, rich and detailed. I bought the thicker-ear-pads, and confort is great. I think it's a most, although 50$ more is a lot. I compared them to Senheiser HD8 DJ which are exceptionnal headphones, but with 90 ohms. Regardless, there is not a lot of difference volume, but the quality is greater on the V-Moda, both when I use with my samsung phone, or with my AV tv receiver. As i use my HD8 Dj for music production and electric piano, I will use my V-modas mostly for TV, movies, games and music, using my pioneer amplifier AV receiver which is plugged to my 4k tv. I was using 2.4 ghz wireless Sennheiser headphones with my tv, but I could not stand random interference with my modem, phone, or even remote control. So it was my last experience with wireless headphones. Wired headphones are just better for the sound. You pay only for the sound, and you know you will not have audio-skips. I tested many songs through the XBOX Deezer Hifi app, and sound is amazing. I love EDM but also acoustics. And acoustics gave me the best effect right now cause of it's spatial sound. Very surprising for closed-back headphones. On my amplifier, I have the option ''sound retriever'' and it changes absolutely everything when you put that on. It gives you way more detailed sounding and much deeper bass, which sometimes is a lot, especially on a hard-bass rocking song. So be sure to play with your AV receiver audio options, it might surprises you. Songs by Ed Sheeran, Lana Del Rey, or The passenger sound amazing. Of course, it depends of the quality production of the songs you listen to. EDM music like Tiesto, David Guetta, Benny Benassi have a tasty sound, with enveloping bass. I don't thinks somebody can be deceived by the bass. I like bass, and as I said, sometimes I thought it was a bit too much. But it can all be adjusted with the equalizer of your music app. As for general TV, the dialogues are super clear, so I know movies will be great. Of course, I recommend the product.
