First of all, people who rated this product low--- this product was doing exactly what it was supposed to do. People just don't bother to research how to exactly use it. If you've never used a retinoid (adapalene, tretinoin, retinol, retinal), you have to start slow. Like maybe 1-2x a week, then every other day, then maybe daily. Yes, your skin might purge and will get worse before it gets better. Doesn't mean that the product doesn't work because it's doing exactly what it's supposed to be doing. If your skin is getting really dry, take a break and moisturize. If you're going outside (even if you're only going to be driving), **wear sunscreen** (and no, your makeup that has SPF in it is not enough. You don't apply enough of it to actually get adequate sun protection. And use at least an SPF 30. ). If you're applying adapalene at night, then apply other actives (vitamin C, AHA/BHA's, etc) either during the day or take a night off from adapalene and apply. Otherwise applying both at the same time is just asking to ruin your skin barrier....making your skin raw, flaky, sensitive, etc. Adapalene is used for acne, but it's also a strong retinoid also used for anti aging (I use for anti aging the nights I take a break from tretinoin... and it's working beautifully). Another thing is this may take time to see results. But steady, consistent use will provide results. Just takes some patience. If you experience purging (retinization... happens to most when starting a retinoid), it's OK. It usually gets worse before it gets better. It happened to me with tretinoin (I got break outs when I usually don't experience any) and that's why I started this product because my skin takes to adapalene much better than tretinoin. Anyway, if you're on the fence about this, don't be. Just research the best way for you to use this. I just can't stand when people give a product a low rating for "not working" or "it broke me out", "it dried out my skin", "I used for a week and nothing happened", etc when it's doing **exactly** what it's supposed to. I really like the formulation of La Roche Posay's adapalene the best. My skin absorbs the gel way better than most adapalene creams and gels out there. And I've been using the 1.6oz tube for about 5-6 months. I use this a few times a week (4-5x) and just ordered a new tube. So it'll last you awhile. If you're experiencing a lot of irritation, try applying moisturizer first, then adapalene 15-30min later, then moisturizer again 10-15 min after that. Make sure you have a really good moisturizer (I love Elf Holy Hydration sleep mask only I don't wash it off, or CeraVe moisturizer), use a gentle cleanser (I use one from Cetaphil). And if you go outside at all, use a sunscreen (use the 2 finger rule for measuring how much you need...and SPF 30 at least. I have one from Apostrophe that wears beautifully under makeup. Others are Bondi Sands SPF 50, and I love the Sun Bum spray mist SPF 45 for reapplying over makeup. Works really, really well). And remember to be patient. It's one of the best adapalene gels I've ever tried.

I started using a week ago with a bad breakout. I love it. Please don’t use this everyday. Start with sandwich method. Apply moisturizer then retinol until the skin builds tolerance. Use it at night. Wear sunscreen at least 50 spf everyday. If your skin is peeling and burning stop using as much. You only need it like 3 times a week. Use Vaseline around the corners of nose and mouth before applying. Also, use a gentle facial cleanser. Since using my pores are no longer clogged and appears smaller, acne is going away(currently have an active breakout), skin is very smooth, glowing, but drier than normal which is good because I have very oily skin. I use the double repair moisturizer . I use the product line for majority of my skincare. I’ll be microneedling soon to fix my deep acne scars.

I’ve been using the product for almost a month now and it has done great things for my skin. I have very acne prone skin and this product helps a lot. It does have a purge period because your skin is getting used to it. It made my skin really dry and flaky but since I’ve been using it consistently I’ve had great results. My skin is no longer dry and flaky. My skin looks hydrated and healthy.

I love adapalene. It is saving my skin. This product and the Differin brand of adapalene seem identical in look, texture, scent, and effect. It is absolutely a good product. My issue with this brand is that the tube seems to be an insane size in comparison to 15 g size. It looks like the tube is full of product but when I went to use it the first time I had to squeeze the tube down A LOT to get product out. When I squeezed the tube the actual amount of product takes up at most a third of the tube. It seems like a giant waste of tube materials and is deceptive to customers thinking they’re getting a ton of product. Which is what I was expecting. Just put it in a smaller tube that more accurately and realistically represents the actual amount that we are getting. I am so disappointed in that sense. I just feel like I’ve been deceived. I was so excited to find such a large tube. But overall it is a great product.

I started using this and it’s one of the few acne treatments where I actually noticed a real difference. The texture is lightweight and absorbs quickly, and I like that it’s oil-free and doesn’t feel greasy. It feels like a more “serious” skincare product compared to a lot of over-the-counter options. Overall, if you’re dealing with consistent breakouts and want something that actually treats the problem long-term, this is a really solid choice. Just be patient with it and give it time 👍

Definitely expect some skin purging but also know that it is brief and your skin will recover quickly if you stick with it. The end results are worth it!! Struggled with cystic acne for so many years, tried every RX and cream under the sun and have never seen my skin look as good as it is now. Haven’t had a cystic pimple in months. Can’t recommend this enough.

Every women or teen need to have this product in their arsenal. It’s a literal godsend. Don’t get me wrong, you MUST Stick with this product for the long run. It’s meant to be used once a day for long periods of time for it to start working. You won’t miraculously wake up one day after using it and find beautiful movie star skin. In fact, it will most likely make you breakout for the first week to a month after using it while your skin clears and gets use to it. But once your skin starts to heal after 2 to 3 months in, the difference is going to be astounding. Now, My skin never felt so good Even my friends at work notice the difference!! I’m not going to a sugarcoat it... I almost gave up... ALMOST. But I stuck with it because honestly my acne has never been truly gone no matter how much money I throw at a product so I just stuck with it. The first month was HELL - I not only broke out but I also got a cold sore which I haven’t had in literal YEARS. Almost got rid of the product after that thinking it was cursed because really???? A freaking cold sore???? Nobody wants those nasty things. BUT I was already seeing slight improvements in the look and feel of my skin so I thought what the hell nothing more to lose anyways! Glad I stuck with it! My skin looks younger and my pores are smaller and tighter than I’ve ever seen them in all my 34 years on this earth! I’m really excited to find a product like this. I’ve been using Curology for 5+ years and it never truly got rid of my acne. The first year or so my acne was almost gone only getting a few breakouts before my period but lately I think they changed the product because it was pretty much in affective and a waste of $30 every two weeks (because they put barely enough product in it to last a month unless you buy their “2 month” supply for $45/month that only lasted a month tops). I cancelled it after finding this product! I’m excited to try other skin care products from LaRochey. :)

Worked okay but wasn’t my favorite. It cleansed my face well and has no noticeable smell, which I liked, but it did leave my skin feeling a bit dry afterward. Decent overall, just not the best for my skin type.

Waiting for a miracle to happen. Kidding aside it makes my skin fresh and smooth.

This works like magic ,you do need to be patient though especially if you have stubborn acne like my hormonal acne ,I started seeing great results after a month of use ,your skin sure dose get worse before it gets better ,it has a peeling effect up it so avoid the eye area and around the mouth ,it’s a life saver!!!

Been using Differin for months and decided to try La Roche-Posay and will continue to do so. The only thing which made me like La Roche-Posay more is that the tube is sealed unlike the Differin.

It has helped me a lot with acne. Get it only if you’ve acne or get breakouts very often.
