Valeo 52151203 Solid Flywheel Conversion Kit Compatible with Select Mini Cooper Models, 2002-2008

I installed this on my car and have helped install on several other MINI Coopers and everyone loves it! Light pedal feel, smooth engagement and no more Chewbacca dual max flywheel chatter. The flywheel is approximately two pounds lighter than stock. Car remains very drivable but does feel just a bit more agile. No issues installing on cars making up to 250HP. I've had no problems with packaging or missing/broken parts. This is a great replacement for the OEM setup. Nobody paid me to write this, I just think this is a great aftermarket clutch option and an excellent choice for the MINI. Note - this part fits 2002-2006 MINI Cooper S and 2004-2008 MINI Cooper S convertible. (R52, R53). It doesn't fit the base non-Cooper S - they have totally different flywheels, throwout bearings and input shafts. I hope someone from the manufacturer reads these reviews. I did before purchasing this, and read about some packaging issues, but didn't expect it would be this bad. The product seems OK, if a little dinged up on arrival. The packaging is just totally unacceptable. Literally, the four parts that come with the kit are just kind of randomly piled in a box that is not much thicker than a cereal box, no dividers between them, no padding, nothing to keep them from sliding around and banging each other up. Bolts just sliding around in the bottom of the box, and a little wad of kraft paper on the top. The damage seems to be mostly cosmetic in my case, and I don't really care what clutch looks like, but it really doesn't inspire confidence in a manufacturer when their product arrives looking all beat up. UPDATE: When I went to install this item, I found that half the bolts were missing and one of the locator studs on the flywheel was snapped off. I'm returning this and going with another brand.

8 months of use and its holding up like a champ. I drive about 2500-3000 miles a month with half of it highway and the other half in hilly city. Im not feeling any wear and tear and it is preforming great. 2004 Mini Cooper S. Caveat: I had a shop install it for me. I cant comment on the installation.

It’s a good product clutch grabs good my only complaint is the pedal is a little lighter compared to stock you do get a 60ft lb increase

If the review accepted a "0" star rating my experience would earn it. I ordered the part once and got a used kit, freshly repackaged to look like new. The parts had been partially installed and damaged, likely both in the install and as a result of the loose bolts, bearings, clutch and flywheel bouncing around in the un-cushioned package. In my opinion repackaging and reselling a clearly used and damaged item "as new" is fraud. The second attempt added to the zero-star experience. This time I got the wrong parts -- clearly called out on both the packaging and the delivery slip. I have no idea if this is a good item or not, but certainly wouldn't recommend taking a chance on buying it here. One week, car still at the shop, two packages I have to go out of my way to return (or get billed by Amazon for their mistakes/impropriety), no serious attempt to make things better. Unless of course I should be excited about the opportunity to go through this yet again...

Doing this job yourself is not for the faint of heart but it isnt that tough either. There is a guy on youtube that put together a very detailed 2 part do it yourself video that was very helpful. he goes under the channel "Mod mini". I did mine over the course of three days and did it on my own. This kit is excellent and I couldn't be happier with the way the clutch feels! My parts arrived properly packaged and they were correct. The clutch alignment tool is not needed because my Mini and most dont have a "pilot hole" so i don't know why some would complain about that. Clutch and flywheel items were fine but just like others have said there packaging and shipping is no good. The bolts came out of the broken bag that was in the box and the throwout bearing had a piece of the clip that was broken off. i called Valeo to inform them and get a new throwout bearing sent to me and they said I didn't order it directly through them so they don't do that with third party orders and have no clue why amazon directs product support to them. So needles to say I had to buy a new throwout bearing to replace it! not to thrilled so far

Everything i needed for a clutch job on a R53 mini cooper. Clutch is lighter then before and feels great!

Ordered this clutch conversion kit for my 05 Mini R53, hell of a job to fit. Once fitted the gears were hard to engage. Contacted Valeo, said it could be air in the system or a bad pressure plate. Fitted a new slave cylinder and bled several times, with no difference to the hard shifting. Had to buy another clutch and now the problem is sorted, the brand new first clutch was faulty.
