I am so glad I purchased this particular pet clipper!!!!!!!!!
I wasn't so sure at first. Took the box out and opened it and saw parts of the inside which held everything was torn in several places plus there was a stain that looked like oil. I was like....what the ???? and my initial thoughts were that this was a product which had been returned previously. I then proceeded to do the product "examination." Upon first inspection, felt that the clipper looked and felt cheap. The clipper head wasn't attached. I kept going as didn't want to make any rash decisions and send the thing back. UPDATE: May 12th, 2015 I continue to use these clippers with satisfaction. Love that it has two batteries so while I am in the middle of grooming one of my two dogs and the battery dies, I can quickly change the battery and keep on going. Highly recommend! I then unwrapped everything, and began to read the instructions. Got one of the batteries plugged in and charging. (takes 1.5 hours to charge) Put the head of the clipper on. Waited. Next day...after my husband freshly shampooed and combed out both of our dogs and they were dry...the time had come. Yes the time had come for our dogs to have their first hair cut of the season. I started with the maltese/terrier mix as she is easier to groom. I was surprised...no...SHOCKED at HOW WELL these little clippers worked!!! I had read someone else say...that it was like using a hot knife through butter...this is NO LIE! WHAT A JOY it is to use these clippers! I finished up with the maltese/terrier mix and then started in on the harder one. The miniature schnauzer. She took me quite a bit longer, as usual and in part because I had a grandbaby at our home that I was watching and she had woke up and began to cry so I had to take a break. I came back and finished with ease! Including around those schnauzer ears!!! Both our doggies look so gorgeous thanks to these clippers! I like that this clipper has the adjustable head as was used to this with clippers in the past. I like that it has TWO inter-changable batteries...and LOVE the cordless feature. This means you are not tied down to just using it here or there wherever there are outlets! I actually groomed our dogs in the bathtub using plastic sheeting on the bottom. (was out of newspapers) I like the stand where you re-charge the batteries. It also has spaces for the oil, the little brush and a space for where you can lay the clippers down. However...it does NOT have a place on that stand to keep all the other attachments! I almost gave it a 4 star because of this. I think it would have been great if it came with a carrying case of some sort but I will just improvise and go on a treasure hunt to find one on my own so no worries! All in all I LOVE these clippers and am so glad I gave them a chance. I purchase these clippers here at Amazon for $99.44 as there was some sale going on. Perhaps a sale to get rid of all the clippers that had been returned due to how cheap it looks at first? Hmmmm. I am glad I got them!!!!

After a few months this virtually ceased to work.
This works pretty well and the batteries last pretty well but it isn't as powerful as I would have liked. I'm using it but will probably replace it someday with something that has more power. It is okay, just not great. Update: this clipper has virtually stopped working. It constantly clogs and I have to clean it out. The blade seems very dull. Great idea but bad execution. This is used for one dog about every 3 weeks. Or it would be - if it worked. Very disappointing.

Perfect for My Double-Coated Schnauzer
I decided to purchase this kit after reading various product reviews for hours. I have a Miniature Schnauzer who has a thick undercoat. The double-coat can make it a little more challenging to cut evenly and within one pass of the razor. This razor did an excellent job! I've used a lot of different razors on the schnauzers I've had throughout my life, and this is probably the best set I've owned. It did a great job of cutting through both layers of fur in one pass. I was truly happy to discover the razor doesn't get hot, which is a problem I've had with all of my other ones. I didn't have to purchase a cooling spray to get through the grooming session or stop/start the session to allow it to cool down. The razor is very sharp, so be careful around the ears and other sensitive areas. I was very pleased with how much faster I could groom my Schnauzer when compared to other razors I've owned. The entire process was just smoother, quicker, and easier for mom and dog. I really like the fact that this razor comes with a spare battery. If the one in use happens to die mid-cut (which didn't happen to me), you can always put the spare battery in and continue your session. The razor is very light-weight and easy to handle. The only thing I wish they would include is a pair of professional trimming scissors. I need a pair of good scissors to trim the eyebrows and beard. Other than that, I couldn't ask for more. This is a great set at a great price!

Save your money...
Throughout the years I've always groomed my dogs and have been looking for a good shaver with power and durability. When I first got this shaver I loved it. I have a cocker and a yorkiepoo so I need a shaver that can cut thick hair. It would cut through the hair so easily and I loved that the blade size was so easily adjustable. I took great care of it but it didn't take long for it to dull, wear out and lose its power. I would use this shaver often for up to 2 hours at a time (taking breaks in between to make sure it didn't overheat). Now it barely cuts the hair at all. I thought maybe I did something wrong to cause it to end up like this but my school has the exact same shaver with the same problem and having replaced the shaver twice. Talking to few others who have tried it, I get the same story. It works great at first and it would probably be a great shaver for your average pet parent that won't use it too frequently. But if you are looking for a shaver that holds its power and durability while using it often I wouldn't recommend this shaver.

Good product. It's not silent
Good product. It's not silent, but it's not so loud that my pet is frightened. Easy to use, however the accompanying CD discusses all of WAHL's newer more expensive models. That's not helpful at all. 3 stars because I've lowered my standards, it works.

Works well, with some shortcomings
This is actually a pretty convenient shaver, since it's cordless and uses rechargeable batteries (cords are a huge hassle if you want to cut pet fur). The convenience, though, kind of has its downsides if you're purchasing it for home use. I have a long-haired Maine Coon cat that occasionally gets deeply matted fur on his underside, and these were much safer and easier to use than (heaven forbid) scissors or regular electric clippers. However, he only ever got matted fur occasionally (maybe once every few months), and the problem is, if you don't continue charging BOTH batteries that this shaver comes with all the time, they can wind up losing their charge completely, which is a pain. I guess it's designed for professional animal groomers for work, so the convenience of the rechargeable batteries is actually kind of a drawback if you don't regularly have to cut your pet's hair. Also, it's technically not 100% safe; there was at least one time that I accidentally nicked my cat's skin while cutting, so you do still have to be careful (particularly if your pet has loose skin). The one thing I would knock the shaver on (though it's partially my own fault) is that it's not quite as sturdily built as it initially seems. I accidentally dropped it on the ground just the other day, about 5 feet or so, and the head of the clipper broke right off. It turns out that the metal shaver at the top is held together by some relatively thin pieces of plastic, that broke when I had dropped it, possibly due to the faux weights that they added to make the shaver feel like a premium product. Again, dropping is my own fault, though I would say that the shaver perhaps isn't quite as sturdy as the high price tag might lead you to believe. Overall, definitely good for the job, but with shortcomings that might make you think twice for such a high price.

Amazing! Cut my dog's hair in one forth the time! Light and Quiet!
I wish I would have bought this one instead of the Andis AGC 2 speed clipper. I used the Andis for the past 9 years and it got so hot I had to stop every 5 minutes. I sprayed it with cooling spray, etc. Nothing helped. It was loud and awkward. Now I have the Wahl 8786-451A Arco SE Cordless Clipper and it is a dream! I cut my dog's hair in 1/4 the time! I have a miniature schnauzer (13 lbs). I felt so free. I could quickly move around her as I clipped since I didn't have to worry about the cord and there was no pull from the cord making it easier to do fancy and better clipping. I didn't even have to pull out my scissors! I clipped her ears, face, tail, feet - everything! The blade has this amazing 5 position setting built into the single blade that takes you from a close "shave" to a short clip! There are two batteries - the one in the clipper is charged and works right out of the box! Nice! So, you can charge one battery while using the other! I didn't have to switch - I clipped her in about 10 minutes! The blade got warm but not blazing hot like the Andis. I was amazed at how much control I had when I was around her face and ears - more so than I have with scissors and it was safer. It is half the weight of the Andis! And so much quieter! It was even quieter than the little peanut clippers I use on my kids hair...hmmm, maybe I should use this one on them!! :)

Awesome clipper
I did a lot of research before I bought this product on which clipper to get for my new cocker spaniel puppy. I thought that the Oster A5 turbo and the Andis were the only way to go as far as high end pet clippers are concerned. Well after talking to the breeder that I purchased my puppy from, she recommended that I look into getting the Arco clippers. I was a bit skeptical about it being battery powered and the fact that it was 33% cheaper (compared to the Oster and Andis), but you can't judge these clippers by the price. The advantage of being cordless was a huge plus. It saved a lot of cleanup time by taking him outside to trim him instead of getting my bathroom covered in hair. Two batteries that last around an hour a piece are a plus too (although i'm not sure were to get new ones if they wear out). The clipper comes with a 5 position adjustable blade and 4 combs so you have many different options when choosing what style and length that you want to go with. On the Oster and Andis you have to buy separate blades to achieve the same effect. I've even been using them to cut my hair and since there a lot more powerful than my regular hair clippers they work like a charm. My dog sure appreciates them over my regular hair clippers since they cut through the hair like a hot knife through butter. They stay cool and are really quiet also so the noise doesn't scare him too much. In the end, even though i've never tried the Oster and Andis, I would still highly recommend these clippers to anyone.
