I bought this to use between my Seestar S50 and the tripod. When doing a compass alignment on the Seestar, you must rotate the unit around a time or two. This allows you to do that alignment without loosening the mount screw. It also allows for a very easy rough polar alignment. I use a wedge for EQ mode and the wedge has the fine adjustment for Polar Alignment but this allows me to set the tripod down in any orientation and get a good PA. It came with the 1/4 x 20 to 3/8 thread adapter so it matches the S50 mount perfectly.

This is a 5 Star Pan Head with Lock. The unit has a level and 360° markings easily read from the side. It comes with 3/8"-16 standard camera tripod threads for easy mounting on any camera tripod before the head. Good value for money and very well made. Lots of metal where needed and soft rubber where it needs to be soft for protecting high priced camera heads.

if you mount the pan base on a flat surface, like the top of a tripod, the lock screw is jammed into the mounting surface, and can't be rotated. You have to leave the pan base unlocked, thus making the setup liable to bumping. It's hard to imagine how the manufacturer doesn't know this. The base is not flat as you need to mount onto a tripod. The base is a shoe that's designed to fit into a shoe. My tripod is three pads coming in from an outer ring. The Neewer only contacts one of them and falls between the other two flats. It should work with a tripod with a flat surface as long as the locking screw extends beyond the tripod head

I ordered this so that the wedge I use with my Seestar S50 had more clearance on the tripod. It is well made and works as advertised. I like having an additional level to check.

This is great for those that do not have heads with panning adjustments. I bought this for Manf ball head use that did not have panning options. Kind of silly they don't but ok. The NEEWER pan sys is about the same as other designs on Amazon and Ebay. I ended up buying this one after the last one I had of a different brand the lock for the pan sys stopped working. I do a lot of photos with multiple exposures, astro, and LS. Nice to have a sys that is smooth, but the lock tension is there. I think over time and heavy use this one will become faulty as well. The lock seems like a lightweight plasticky material that wears as you use over time. On my previous model that lock adj was all the way in meaning the actual threaded part of the locking screw just completely wore down. So far so good on the NEEWER model. Perhaps they made some changes, but I still think the locking screw is probably the same and I will end up buying another one sooner or later. Given the price I may just buy another to have on hand.

This is a nice, well built pano base that is *mostly* compatible with Arca-Swiss heads. However if your tripod head is provided with Arca-Swiss pins (and it should, like the PeakDesign Travel Tripod), this panoramic base will not work as the bottom is completely flat, with no holes for the arca pins. These pins are crucial, as they prevent the engaged plate from sliding out through the sides.

I bought this panning head and put it together with Neewer 55mm universal screw knob clamp due to the slim, low profile, style. So I can mount them onto my Peak Design tripod. PD tripod has no panning function that makes it impossible for wide landscape stitching shots for me. The product works fine on 5D4 with the mid-size lens. I only use this on a telescope lens to do panning shots when I am lazy to bring my other heavy-duty tripod along to hike.

This base is very well designed and built. Performs as advertised.

Fonctionne très bien, mouvement fluide et bonne rigidité une fois serré. Je l'utilise par dessue une base de nivèlement pour pouvoir orienter rapidement au (nord) la base de mon star tracker sans avoir à jouer avec les réglages fin de l'azimuth.

Está base panorámica tiene un giro suave y a la vez sólido, es completamente metálica y de construcción robusta. La parte inferior trae una rosca hembra de 3/8 y cola de milano Arca Swiss. La rosca del vástago es de 1/4 UNC, la típica de las cámaras fotográficas y viene incluido un adaptador de 1/4 a 3/8.

That's all I needed for an existing tripod with a basic head mount. Very good quality, look great too & fine tuning. Recommend for those who are not after a fancy and bulky head but like to stick to the basics.
