Exceeds expectations.
This riding crop is well made and is exactly what I looking for. It is high quality, sturdy and perfect for the bedroom or use on an actual horse. The size is as expected.

Shorter than other riding crops I've seen
I've never ordered a crop online before so I didn't know what length to order. 18 inches is short. Very, super short. I don't know what length I need, but definitely need longer than 18. Quality is fine. Sturdy and well made. (Been riding for 30 years, don't usually ride or train with a crop, but it was recommended for my new horse, so here we are.) I guess I will have to buy one in person so I can figure out the right length.

Know your tools!
This is not for horses. A horse wouldn't feel this. That being said.. this is for BEGGINERS! But it is perfect for that! This crop is meant to sting just a bit, so a Dom can learn how to control their swing, and a Sub can learn their threshold! This crop allows you to gage intensity levels early on to learn what's right for you! Use your Elbow and Shoulder, not your wrist! Land stings repeatedly in the same spot. 2-4 stings should build pretty fast. when you are ready, knowing your strength and limits, move on to a sturdier, heavier crop.

Not for Everyone
Let’s be honest, if you’re going to buy a riding crop for equestrian purposes, you’re going to go to a specialty merchant, not Amazon. So we all know why people are really buying this off of Amazon. That said, I am now going to discuss the product. I was hesitant to buy it for the price. I figured for $12, it was going to be more novelty than anything else. This assumption proved true. Some other users stated that it would go well with a costume and I couldn’t agree more. If you need a low-cost accessory for an outfit, etc., this will work for you. I would also say if this is your first foray into making your personal life more interesting, this is a good entry-level product. If you are looking for high quality, I would strongly recommend looking at other products. The handle is some type of resin/plastic, which felt okay in the palm of my hand. It had some give, so it kind of forms to your grip. I don’t know if that was intentional design or just low quality material. It does have a strap to put your arm through. The staff is plastic and I can tell if the product receives heavy use, it will not last long. Lastly, the popper is a synthetic leather. It is not real leather as stated in the product description. Also, when this product came, I inspected it and I immediately noticed the popper’s synthetic leather was missing its outer layer, so I could see the exposed fibers. Before I saw the quality failure with the popper, I was going to keep it and treat it as a lesson learned and just use it as an introduction to using a riding crop. After I noticed the popper missing some of the outer layer of its synthetic leather, I determined it was necessary to return the product. I’m giving this three stars because of the incorrect advertising, the quality failure of the popper, the general overall quality, and the price point. I say three because this price point and quality level is perfect for a beginner. If you’re already experienced or don’t want to waste more money on upgrading to a better product, I would recommend looking for a higher price point product. TL/DR: If you’re new or looking for low price point, buy it. If you’re experienced or want quality, look elsewhere.
