Westminster Reference Bible

This Trinitarian Bible Society (TBSbibles.org) gem is nearly perfect. Features to consider: parallel reference columns, with the references on the outside columns rather than the center; short definitions of archaic words; white paper that is sturdy and does not bleed easily; good font size for older guys with glasses (me); great solid stiff leather cover; four ribbons; and solid helps: concordance, maps, translator notes.The archaic reference feature was my main attraction, and they are very thorough. The ribbons are a bit skinny, but will work. While I love the font, the pure white paper is not as good as cream colored in my experience. The leather is not plush and creamy soft like goatskin, and its solid not floppy. This is important to me because I use my Bible a lot in lots of different settings with no flat surface. Many cross references, but I have not tried them out. Great Price. Great Bible, Great Publisher. You can't go wrong in my opinion.UpdateExtensive daily use has proven this edition to be great. The cross references and obscure word helps are solid. Because of this Bible I found the TBS and joined them. They are a fabulous organization. I have started my own little Bible mission to the Spanish speakers giving out their NT and Gospels of Juan free to all. Great response so far. Buying the Bible has been a blessing to me in so many ways, not something I can say about most “stuff” I buy.

The Westminster Reference Bible is an incredible bargain in the $50-$60 range. For the KJV purists, there are only two variant spellings (Spirit for spirit Acts11:28, 1Jn5:8) and matches the Cambridge Concord. The leather cover is a decent quality and the print is crisp and clear on quality paper. Fits nicely in your hand or lap. For those who shy away from the "thee's" and "thou's" in the KJV, there is a short lesson on how they are used. You'll wonder how you ever managed with one ribbon marker after having four in this Bible. This Bible is not self-pronouncing, but a table of pronunciations of words and proper names is included in the back (I use one ribbon to mark it). YouTube has a number of videos showing off the beauty of this Bible! This is the perfect Bible to give as a gift! The TBS Westminster Reference Bible is printed and bound in the Netherlands by Jongbloed which is a high-end Bible printing company and it shows. What a deal!!

This is a very nice Bible. The black leather is soft and smooth. A very fine grain of leather that is very pleasing to look at. Inside, the covers and bindings are glued, but very professionally done. Although the edges are not sewn, this does not take away from the perfection of construction of this Bible. The pages are light, white and I can detect no ghosting. The type is 9 font, very black and bold, and can be easily seen. The Bible lays flat on any page you turn to, and flaps down if you hold it in one hand. Right away you realize this is a very good Bible. The references are extensive. The most I have ever seen in a Bible. The language of the Bible holds to the original Kings James which I love. I make sure I package it away whenever I am finished using it, trying to preserve it; I love it that much! The edge is gold gilded.

I bought a hard cover copy of this Bible and really, really like it! It's so usable and didn't expect to like it this much. I think part of the reason it's so likeable is the way they have a translation of archaic KJV words beside the word itself instead of in the back of the Bible somewhere. And also the references are more than one could ask for. I compared the references to other Reference Bibles and was blown away by how many more there are in this one. They're fun to look up because they're so pertinent. Amazing what saints of the past have left for us. Finally, the clear printed text and the pale shade of paper it's printed make it comfortable to read.

The customer who was disappointed that this Bible only has 80,000 references must have read this on the box. The publisher said that the printing on the box was actually a mistake and it does, in fact, have 200,000+ references. By far the most I've ever seen. Nice layout. Stays open no matter where you open it. Very nice calfskin cover. Also a more extensive concordance than most Bibles. Altogether a great Bible for the price. The only shortcoming I have found is that the paper seems a little thinner than a lot of my other Bibles. But the layout allows for almost no bleed-through. Handy size as well. Not too big and not too small. If you're looking for a high quality Bible for a very reasonable price, this may just be the Bible you've been looking for:)

With the name Weatminater reference on it, I imagined that it would have more notes.

This is an exceptionally beautiful and well-made Bible. It lays flat in the hand straight out of the box. The font is clear and highly readable. The additional features are useful, and it comes with FOUR ribbons! It would be an outstanding value at twice the price. I am very pleased with the TBS Westminster Reference edition.

What a totally amazing bible. Firstly the delivery was very fast considering the current state of the world. Only took 2 days to arrive. I honestly cannot fault this bible. I only wish I had it 20 years ago. It reminds me of a thompson chain but without all the gubbins in the back. Meaty concordance with modern translations for archaic words in the margin. 9.6 font, if you dont know what that is. get a free bible font chart off the internet. Black letter and 200000 cross references. I am really blown away by this bible and the price is knock out. Well done you.

This is indeed the Bible which offers the ultimate realisation of the principle: Scripture interprets Scripture!This Bible is a true gem in terms of its contents but it is also a delight to read with its clear font on off-white paper, beautifully bound in calfskin leather.It is surprisingly compact in size and it is likely to remain one of my most favoured Bibles.

Lovely KJV bible, the best buy around for a premium calf skin cover!Even if you dont like KJV, this is a must-have for even having it in your collection considering the calf-skin cover at so cheap a price. Binding is tough and durable. And the paper is very nice to hold, less ghosting as well. Chain-reference parallels that of the Thompson Chain-Reference bible. Good buy :)

Very well produced- should last well. Print is very clear and easy to read.Extensive references are very helpful.
