Taconic Shave's Heavyweight Chrome Gillette Sensor Compatible Razor - One Razor Blade Included

Rare that I complete reviews, but thought I would as super impressed with this razor handle. I've been using Gillette Sensor blades and handles for over 40 years, but my faithful handle broke after at least 10 years loyal service. Trying to find a replacement in the UK was impossible as they are no longer manufactured nor are the blades (excel sensor blades still available from a couple of sellers on Amazon), so took a chance on this Taconic handle. It fits excel and sensor blades (2 bladed) perfectly with a good and strong grip. The handle is heavier (made from metal) than my original, but not too heavy with the grip being roughly the same as the original. This handle isn't cheap but it's well made and will last me until I'm in my box. Go ahead and purchase you won't be disappointed 👍

Absolutely love this razor handle. I threw my original Sensor Excel metal handle away then realised my error....cost lots of money as they're rare! This one is heavy and very good quality. Thank you.

If you're buying this because you can't find a Gillette handle that isn't cheap and plasticky then it's an improvement on the cheap and plasticky handles but it's VERY heavy and has no rubber inserts to help with grip so it's not as good as the original Gillette metal handles. The blades however are way better than the Gillette ones and it makes one wonder if the theories that Gillette are selling crap blades in order to encourage people to buy the multi-bladed nonsense are true. £24 for 40 blades is a bit of a bargain too!

Just recently it came to a point that my gillette sensor handle, fell apart after so many years... the plastic started to fall apart so the blade wouldnt sit right... I love this handle and more so the feel and the weight of it... it feels so natural while shaving and there is a good tilt on the blade while shaving... those that used gillette sensor in the past this is a no brainer to purchase.

Solid handle but point of attachment for blades is flimsy and does not hold the blades tightly. Overpriced item that is unlikely to last

It is a great idea to keep offering a Sensor Excel compatible razor handle. Gillette Sensor Excel is still an exceptionally good shaving system(5 stars for the blades). Taconic Sensor Excel compatible razor handle is well made, retains the extraordinary and brilliant pivoting action of the Gillette original but lacks the rubber flexible fins all along the handle, and for this reason lacks the manoeuvrability and control of the Gillette original when wet because it becomes slippery. Surely, adding the rubber little pads on the handles will improve grip and control. There is a reason why Sensor Excel twin blades system is still very popular: simply exceptional, comfortable shave. The outstanding Sensor Excel deserves an outstanding compatible razor.

This is an excellent razor handle. I really like how it has heft, and feels great in your hand. Most of the handle is made of metal, whereas the top, where the razor cartridge fits in, is made of plastic. However, overall, the razor handle is very weighty (in a good way) and feels great while shaving. For the past several months, I was using the typical plastic handle that I bought on Amazon (the original equipment handle). However, I was getting cut, nicked, and just not getting a close shave. I thought it was the Sensor 3 blades, and somehow they were not made as well as in the past. But then I got this handle. Honestly, the blades feel completely different. I am not sure if it is psychological, but I am getting the best shaves of my life. I think because the handle has some weight and heft, I don't feel the need anymore to put any pressure to shave. As a result, I am sticking to Sensor 3 blades. I have just one issue with the handle. I shave in the shower. Obviously, the handle gets wet and slick with shaving cream, water, etc. There are grippers on the handle at the top and bottom, but nothing in the middle. The middle of the handle is very smooth. A few times, the handle almost slipped out of my hand. I know in other reviews, people said they dropped their handle and it broke. That makes sense. So what did I do? I McGyvered a fix. I just bought a cheap roll of hockey stick tape (the tape you put on the blade, which is pretty water resistant). I literally put two one-inch pieces of tape around the handle, and the handle is now tacky enough that it is very unlikely to slip out of my hand. The roll of tape cost $5.78, and unfortunately, I only used about 2 inches of it, but perhaps a similar cloth tape that you have at home already will do. With that fix, the handle is even better, and perfectly secure in my hand. Please see the pictures attached. All in all, this a great handle. It's a little pricey, but as I said, for some reason this handle seems to shave so much better than those light plastic handles.

Awesome product, I ditched the 3 bladed cartridge it came with and bought sensor excel cartridges and wow works amazing. Smooth irritation free shave, good weight and the quality is actually better than I thought it would be. I hope these are available for a long time to come incase I ever need a replacement.
