Is there a Linux driver? If not, are hardware specs available?

It's a standard USB serial device, so the drivers are built-in. There is endless documentation on the protocol used for DMX.

Load software, plug it in. A ridiculous question ....what are you setting it up on? What software are you intending to use?

What specification or app is required beyond the provided drivers? unable to find any dmx controller apps capable of detecting the cable/dmx adapter?

Greetings--After installing the drivers, I downloaded and installed the free FreeStyler V. 3.6.50 software, on a Windows 10 Home computer (V. 1903). The software does not have direct support for the DSD Tech USB to DMX (RS-485) adapter, but I have experienced success using the Eurolite USB-DMX controller. I hope this helps!

Where can I download the driver for windows?

The last device in the RS-485 (DMX XLR) chain must be terminated with a 120 ohm 1/2W resistor, between pins 2 and 3. Problems when terminating the chain when using Lixada wireless DMX adapter (simply don’t terminate). Can daisy-chain devices, using the Lixada wireless DMX adapter The USB to DMX XLR adapters work with the free FreeStyler DMX software. Initially using the FreeStyler V. 3.4.6, shipped with the Lixada USB adapter, then upgraded to FreeStyler V. 3.6.50. I initially tried the DSD Tech USB to RS-485 interface with FreeStyler DMX, as a “UDMX adapter,” in FreeStyler, but was unable to get it to function. The Eurolite USB-DMX adapter seems to communicate with the fixtures. Other generic options include the and DXPACK interface, and, possible, Enttec Open-DMX. The DMX addresses cannot overlap, without adversely affecting devices. If one device is on channel 10 and has 14 addresses, the next available address would be 23 (10 + the next 13 addresses).

Lighting adapter

Purchased this cable to attach to the wireless donner dongle to control both wireless lighting. It works well with the software. The cable seems like it will last a long time.

Works really well - way cheaper than most other alternatives

Setting this up with my virtual lighting console and programming environment was incredibly easy - just plug and play. This dongle is significantly less expensive than others that claim similar functionality and works really well - I had no issues with it keeping up or being compatible with my Linux-based lighting control setup or any DMX devices, including multiple universes. Would buy again.

Worked first day with QLC+ and then failed.

Worked first day with QLC+ and then failed. Data transfer light went out. Windows 11 no longer detects it in Device Manager. I tried it on another Windows 11 device, same result. The USB also does not firmly seat in the USB receptacle. Tried unloading and loading the drivers but it appears dead.

Works; Sometimes lights flicker

Works pretty good with Q Light Controller+ (free software). Doesn't always keep up with the lasers and will flicker occasionally, but for the price it's a great device. Plug and play, no drivers needed. Easy installation, easy to use.

MacOS + QLC + UKing + DSDTech = Win

Works with Intel-based MacOS, QLC+, and UKing RGBYC 5-laser projector. MagicQ and ShowBuddy didn't worked, strangely enough. I tested every DMX ID, and every value I could send, and had no issues. Maybe there's a reason to buy more expensive DMX dongles, but this works perfect for my setup.

Works but low compatibility

I was able to get it to work in a few apps but not all apps. Qlc+ worked but many other apps didn’t have a corresponding driver and I couldn’t get the generic driver to work.

I've bought two of these, the latest about a week ago (for two separate rigs). Download and install the drivers as per the provided instructions and they just work. I've tested these with Show Buddy Active and VST Live 2 and so far, so good. Incredible value for money.
