Makes exercising your wrist and forearms fun
Of all the things I saw at CES, this was the only item I decided to buy. I actually found their competitor, DynaFlex Powerball first but decided to go with the NSD Spinner brand instead because it sounded like they were more on top of customer service. I also liked that they had an affordable wind up version that didn't require using the cord. You wind it up by turning the ball in the direction of the arrow (see picture attached, the arrow is embossed into the green part.) I'd read these kinds of balls were popular with rock climbers as a forearm exercise and it was fun to use, so I decided to give it a shot Pros: - Don't have to worry about losing a cord. You can take this thing with you anywhere and give it a spin. - Easy to use - I find myself picking this up while I'm watching TV or just walking around. - Helps with wrist / forearm pain - I have pretty bad pain from using the computer too much, and I found using the ball helped me stretch my forearms and hands and helped reduce the pain a lot - I can't validate, but when I have the ball spinning on high RPMS it takes a lot of effort to maintain my grip on the ball so I feel like I'm doing something to build up my strength. Cons: - If you have sweaty hands like I do, it's sometimes tough to wind up the ball - Very confusing lineup of options. I recognize in the end reading and taking note of the titles is super important. Here's an overview of the lineup - ~$20 : NSD Power Essential Spinner = regular ball, no counter to show rpms, no self starter, vibration free to 15,000 RPM ~$30 : NSD Power AutoStart Spinner Gyroscopic Wrist and Forearm Exerciser with Auto Start Feature = regular ball, no counter to show rpms, w/ self start, vibration free to 15,000 RPM ~$40 : NSD Power Winners Roll and Spin Spinner Gyroscopic Wrist and Forearm Exerciser with Digital LCD Counter and Auto-Start Feature = ball w/ rpm meter, w/self start, vibration free to 15,000 RPM **what I got** ~$50 : NSD Roll 'N Spin Rainbow Lit AutoStart Spinner Gyroscopic Wrist and Forearm Exerciser with AutoStart and Multi-Lit LED = = ball no counter to show rpm, w/ self starter, has LED lights that light up to different colours depending on how fast you're spinning, vibration free to 15,000 RPM ~$75 : NSD Power Winner's Precision Sterling Spinner Gyroscopic Wrist (SILVER COLOUR) = ball w/rpm meter, NO self starter. Vibration free to 15,000 RPM. Delivers more resistance than the plastic balls. Inertial resistance: 19kg at 10,000rpm (350Hz) 3.2kg at 10,000rpm (450Hz) "up to 41.3lbs" ~$75: NSD Power Ultimate Winner's Precision Sterling Spinner Gyroscopic Wrist (GOLD COLOUR) = ball w/rpm meter, NO self starter. Designed to deliver higher RPMS. Claims vibration free operation at up to 27,000 RPM. Overall, since these aren't expensive, it was worth it for me to try out. Update: I still love this ball but I recommend not leaving it anywhere really hot. Since I take this ball with me everywhere, I'd left it in the car overnight in the hot summer weather and I think the glue that held the grip band to the ball melted. Now I can't keep the rubber grip on the ball when I spin as easily.

Topic: Gyroscopic
I have used the NSD Spinner for several weeks, so now feel comfortable sharing user experience. On a positive note, it is a unique little object that offers a bit of fun with conditioning benefits. This item kept "popping up" online, while researching exercise/therapy tools for recovery of broken arm. So, (in 4-5th month post break)..I've been using it about 5-10 min. per day. I do feel some subtle results in grip strength & flexibility, and for that it has been well worth the purchase. The tangerine sized spinner fits nicely in the hand & into my 30 min. daily routine. I also use light weights & "digi-flex" tools, (quite helpful for any possibly reading this, looking for self-help physical therapy). I paid more for the "autostart" feature, lacking coordination to use the "pull string" version. Autostart is a simpler way to get the interior ball/gyroscopic force going. You place thumbs on bottom of ball to "pull/wind" or create tension/resistance..something you readily feel, (not difficult), but you need enough push back to "set it spinning." You then must rotate your wrist & forearm to build up more speed & keep it going. While it is still spinning, you can easily switch the ball from one hand to the other, as one hand will tire..and you can go on this way without a restart..until hands, wrist, arm & fingers weary of the brief whirling workout. I found that moving your wrist in slow, steady paced, deliberate "stirring" circles is best, no need to get "frenzied" or overdo it. You can speed your movements if so desired, however, in "therapy mode," less is more. Note: The instructions provided with the NSD spinner were not that helpful. You can go to their website & view a tutorial if you like or are able to do so, (I could not). In summary, the added cost of the digital counter was not worth my hard earned pennies. I had thought it would be a good thing, because I imagined "harming" myself, if I didn't know how fast it was spinning..etc.. Rest assured, you can simply monitor the force by "feel." If you are more competitive or curious as to how fast you can get the ball spinning, by all means consider the counter. I do think it would be MORE fun to have the spinner that "lights up" & changes color! Unfortunately, I didn't see one offered that had BOTH led lights & autostart feature combo. So, you may want to look for that model, if/when it becomes available. Take care.

Works as advertised, quiet enough to use under the dining table while having a conversation
I have used a manual start one very long ago, and I got this PB-688AC model for the purpose of improving my forearm and grip strength, endurance, and stamina so that I can perform better in the practice of kendo. I like the "autostart" mechanism, making it simple to use without worrying about losing the cord used in the manual start version. Just need to wind up the gyro sufficiently and then release and go from there. The LCD counter works as intended and provides various useful information, such as rev counter (revs, in 100s), speed counter (current RPM), historical/current top speed counter (max RPM), and physical strength index counter (number of revs in 30/60/90 seconds). The NSD Spinner works with RPM Power's Armstik product, but the design of the Armstik is slightly flawed due to them using the normal screw (which would allow the bracket to become unscrewed when you spin the powerball in the same direction it takes to unscrew the bracket). Therefore, if you can get the armstik at an affordable rate, you can get that, but otherwise you might want to wait or even design your own version that is safer and more secure than what's available on the market. I attached a video to show how the powerball works while using the Armstik; takes a bit of practice to spin well using the armstik compared to using the powerball alone.

Not durable at all and broke in a month
I was able to get the spinner to do everything advertised. It takes a little practice to get the technique down to get it to spin but once you do you can feel a good workout in your forearms. The counter also worked as advertised and you can track your activity. However, after 30 days something broke on the inside and it now won't wind any longer and is therefore worthless. I had not even removed the protective plastic film from the counter before the spinner broke. I am not a big strong person so have to say the spring inside must be cheap to only last a month. I am trying to get the company to repair it under warranty but you have to go to their website to get a phone number and then call and get authorization to return the Spinner. And they won't repair if the damage is a result of "normal wear and tear" so who knows what that means. So far I haven't been able to get anyone to answer the phone so likely will just trash the spinner.

Two review times here on this spinner!
One star on first delivery because even though This looks like a nice gyro , mine was defective right out of the box. It would not auto start nor wind up at all. I guess something you cannot see was malfunctioning inside of it. I was disappointed it did not work and that I would have to spend time packing it and driving time and gas cost to return this. Returning is not completely free to the purchaser because you spend your time and gas and printing a label and tape to send anything back. I will reorder and hope the next one works as advertised. We shall see. Updated Jan 4th 2026 I now got my second delivery and this one works great. There is a learning curve on using these but this one got going fast and furious unlike the first dud I got. This one sounds great with no clunkiness and purrs like a kitten at high speed. The seniors in our family love it along with the younger ages now that we got one that works well. We will see how it works over time to make anyone stronger. If nothing else it is a fun feeling when using it and sounds cool.

This is a wonderful invention. Be patient and you can start it and use it without problems.
I am a 70 year old woman, and retired M.D. who practiced medicine for 40+ years. I have recently had surgery for carpal tunnel syndrome and cubital tunnel syndrome (8 weeks ago), in both arms, and am weak as a kitten. I am using the NSD Power AutoStart Spinner as rehabilitation for my injured arms/hands. I received my unit today, and have had no trouble starting it despite my weakened condition. Any negative reviews seem to be aimed at failure to be able to start this device. If I can start this device, anyone can. The secret is in resisting the force exerted by the spinner. Because of my weakness, I have to move my hands and arms very slowly, but I time my arm movements with the resistance offered by the spinner. I had another device that I could not start with a string or in any other way because it did not have a self starter. I gave it to my son. This auto start spinner is easy to use if you don't try to force it. The person who designed this should be applauded. Anyone who can't start and use this device is not patient enough. It works, and it works well. Thank you for the auto start spinner. I am very happy with this.

Must say I'm impressed.
I was pretty skeptical when purchasing this, as I thought the actor in the ad's seemed rather cheesy and it just didn't look like it could produce a very good workout. I was used to conventional workout equipment and weights, but I decided to take a leap of faith on it with so many positive reviews figuring I could just return it if I wasn't happy with it. Upon receiving the unit I picked it up thought how is this little lightweight object going to give me a workout, but after getting a hang of the proper pace and movement I started to feel what it can do. Don't give up on the first few tries as it does take some getting used to in order to get the right tempo and form, especially in your non writing hand, as it's typically weaker and has less coordination. After one night and about twenty or so tries with each hand I'm beginning to get accustomed to it. I would describe the motion to get it going as if your were using a kitchen whisk so stir cake batter or something similarly thick by rotating only your wrist in a circular motion. Try not to use or move your elbows and shoulders as this seems to only throw off your movement. As you get used to it you will get faster and it makes the resistance grow giving you a more intense workout. I would say after one night I'm already happy with the purchase as I can see this giving me quite a workout surprisingly, and as a bonus it's actually quite fun to do, especially if you have the lcd version so you can try to beat your record speeds. I chose the auto start version as others said the basic version, that uses a string to start, can be a pain in the behind.

Fantastic
This is every bit as good as the "professional" brand. I have both so I can compare and I can't tell the difference between the 2. Fantastic gadget to really give those arms a workout. Great stress reliever that you can play around with as you watch the TV.

The LCD does not work.
Recommended by my therapist to buy this brand for the counter so I could monitor my movement to strengthen up my torn ligaments. But I got a faulty LCD which doesn't show anything after umpteen times of spinning. Other than that, the mechanism is working fine. So I'll just have to make do without the readings.
