It's wintertime again, and Jamaica has to wear her brother Ossie's hand-me-down boots. She finds herself envious of her friend Brianna's pink boots with the fuzzy cuffs, and Brianna teases her about her ugly, old "boy" boots. But one word brings reconciliation for the two friends. Review: Wonderful book for little girls! - Book came nicely packaged, and my daughter loves it! I love that Jamaica is a little girl of color that looks, thinks, and behaves like a little girl should. She is not precocious, and comes from a traditional, two parent household. I understand that in this day and age, parents want to introduce their young children to a different definition of family, but for me and my household, I appreciate that my daughter can relate to Jamaica. Thanks to the author and illustrator! Review: Excellent book to add to my First Grade collection - Excellent book to add to my First Grade collection. This series is wonderful as Read Alouds for teaching Realistic fiction, and how character feelings change throughout the story. I am very satisfied with the product and the seller.

Definite hit with my daughters
My girls love the Jamaica series and this book was no exception. Jamaica and Brianna are characters with whom they can identify. This story uses warm illustrations and realistic dialogue to convey a very common challenge of dealing with clothes that are passed down and more importantly how comparing our own material possessions to those of others can get in the way of building strong relationships. As a parent, i appreciate the character building elements of the Jamaica books.Love the character building elements.
