KS2 History Discover & Learn: Mayan Civilisation Study Book (CGP KS2 History)

This mayan civilization work book is great for ks2 learners, but my daughter is 12 years old in year 8 and it suits her perfectly it's a great book to give you an interest in the mayans and is factual and has facts that make the mayans interesting because it's very clear with lots of pictures but it teaches you do clearly. This book is way better than buying a history book with no pictures just writing, in my opinion. It also only focuses on one subject which makes it easier to learn. REMEMBER TO BUY THE ANSWER BOOKLET ASWELL AS THIS BOOK that booklet is black and white with the same cover as this book and has questions for each subject on the main topic which is really easy to follow and the answer booklet is really fun to do you can draw pictures, write letters and explanations but not in detail so it's a really good way to learn and would be perfect if you struggle to in deep in history but this will entertain you and you'll be learning However the answer booklet only has questions not answers. It's really great I love these type of books I have bought lots of other topics of these books aswell because I love them. I highly RECCOMEND 🤩🤩

I love well-illustrated history books. In particular if it addresses a slightly less obvious topic as this book about the Mayas does (in contrast to the obligatory children history books about pyramids and castles). Unfortunately for my young daughter I have a keen interest in the Mayas having visited several of the sites in Mexico and Guatemala in the past and having read and collected many books about the topic. So I had a lot of material to share when for her historical topic for the school semester was Mayas. I was was obviously more excited than she was. Then then I also stumbled on this book and it was an instant buy. We have used the book for guided reading. I really liked it and my daughter is warming up to the subject. The book gives a clear overview of the city states, the daily life and the cultural practices of the Maya. It very well manages to put all in a historical context and provides lot of interesting details. And again, it’s really well illustrated. The book doesn’t avoid the bloody and gruesome aspect of maya religion, so parents and teacher might have to prepare the young readers for that. Given the amount of detail and text its probably best for children aged 10 to 11. So great value given the price, would have spent more and would have bought the hard cover if there was one available. I’m going to buy some of the other books in this series as well. The one about the Saxons and Vikings strike me as quite interesting.

They were studying the Mayan culture at school. This helped with their project and afterwards we donated it to the local library to help any other parents out that might need it for their children.

My daughter loves this book, I have also enjoyed reading this with my daughter! The pictures are great and illustrate the interesting text very well. We are taking our time as we don't want the book to end.
