Encyclopedia of Beasts and Monsters in Myth, Legend and Folklore Kindle Edition

I ordered this book as part of a research project and ran into problems with it immediately. For some reason I can get halfway through the 'A listings and then my Kindle shuts down. After rebooting and trying to call this book up on another pc with the same results, I've returned this book. Secondly, cross-referencing book entries with outside sources is extremely difficult and a number of the 'A' entries I can't find listed either on-line or in other reference books. Having the sources somewhat listed at the end of each entry makes entries hard to read and trying to find some of the sources was a waste of time. This book could be of some value but if you use it, use it with extreme caution.

From this book, the author, Theresa Bane has a lot of knowledge on the subject of monsters. There are monsters that I had never heard of that I had found in this book. I like the format that the monsters are put in from A to Z and that you can find monsters from all over the world in this source.

I cracked open the book and thumbed to nowhere-specific in the middle. I read a passage on a term and I was sold.A GREAT reference piece to add to your collection. Well-written. Concise. Informative. NOT dry. And something I'll be referencing for my own needs and purposes for a long time! (Oh, and I found the introduction really funny..."This books IS NOT...")Excellent work, Theresa Bane!

I heard of this writer by listening to the Sasquatch Chronicles podcast. I am a skeptic to cryptozoology animals and such, but I have always enjoyed reading about different cultural legends, folklore, trivia-type books, and one's "untypical" stories. I have enjoyed this book and would recommend it.

This book contains a lot of entries for a wide variety of creature. It has everything from very wide categories of mystical beast (such as Were-creature) to the specific name of a common animal from folklore, like Aethenoth (the name of Lady Godiva's horse for her famous ride). This wide range of both specifity and variety of creature make this book the ideal source of knowledge regarding this wide range of animals.

This a fantastic tome. It is a big help in writing about monsters and creatures of all kinds!!

Great collections of creatures from myths and legends. The quality of research is high with a high number of resource materials and informative descriptions. A must buy for any one interested in the subject of mythological and legendary beasts.

Very interesting some have more info then others, would be great if they had pictures for them even for some of them but still very informative

Was expecting a hardback book for the price .Also considering it is a reference book illustrations would have been good and the print is so small
