Malice: A Novel

By far her best
One of the few books you'll read that stick with you long after you finish it. I read this book when I was young and it struck a cord. Great writing. The negative reviews are from people who can't handle graphic depictions of abuse. There is a lot of it in this book, and the protagonist is constantly battered down.I think the problem people have is that this is probably the most realistic description of the inate deprevity more people have than most care to admit. It shows a person being abused for other people's gain, perversion, and just general lack of humanity, and showing other people not helping her. Even more, showing characters actively thinking she deserves the abuse. And the thing I don't think they can stand is knowing that is real; quite frankly, I think the kind of person who doesn't recognize this book for what it is are probably the type of people who wouldn't help someone in need.Look up "the bystander effect" and think about it in regard to this book, then ponder how people really act (as opposed to saying what they would do) and how far this could be from the truth.

Enough is enough
Grace Adams had been abused both physically and emotionally by the two people who were supposed to love, protect and cherish her. The citizens in the town of Waseka did not believe Grace had been brutally attacked and raped by her father from her early teens. The law enforcement, the courts and the people of the town believed her father was not capable of such heinous crimes towards his own flesh and blood, thus finding Grace guilty of manslaughter. Grace had to endure most of her teenage years and half of her adult life constantly having to defend herself from malicious attacks towards herself and her loved ones. Great story it's sad and frustrating at times and happy and joyful at others.

Good
Perfect title for a story full of unbelievable cruel, & inexcusable behavior for adults. Hard to read some of the events. Proof overcoming injuries inflicted by others is the best path.

ONE OF MY FAVORITES!
I really enjoyed this book from beginning to end! In fact, I could not put it down because I wanted to find out what happened! I highly recommend it to all Daniele Steel fans; you won't want the book to be over!

Out of character
This for me was out of character for Danielle Steele. It was very disturbing and some very graphic scenes of parental sexual abuse as well as prison abuse. I did not expect this sort of content from this author. The overall story was good, not great. I did like the strength of the main character. Without creating a spoiler it would be difficult to share more. Not sure I would recommend this one.

An exciting and intriguing read!
Danielle Steel keeps amazing me with her work. Malice is the second Steel book I have read to date and it far reached my expectations. I thought with the title Malice that it would be a mystery, but to my surprise it was so much more. The characters in the book are so real and the main character feels like they are sitting next to you as they tell the story. It didn't take me long to finish the book, because I found myself coming home from work and reading before I started dinner. It is a sad book and makes you wonder how many people actually live in horror each day. It makes me want to do charity work for abused children. This is a great read! My first Steel book was Southern Lights and Malice is soooooo different! There is still love, but what a rocky path Grace has to walk and survive to get the fairy tail life..then Steel throws another curve and Grace's past comes back in an attempt to end her fairy tail.Courage

Don't read this!
The rape by the girl's Father was too graphic. I happily tossed it into the waste basket after 10 minutes of reading.
