Smokeless Ashtray - Modern, Clear, Indoor, 1-Pack

Ashtray does greatly reduce smoke. A little inconvenient and bulky. No a/c adapter. Battery life is ok as long as you don't forget and leave it on, which I do a lot. That wipes out a new battery in a few hours. It is very quiet, making it easy to forget it's on. I recommend a rechargeable battery. Awkward to empty, because of dividers, have to shake an turn to empty all sides. I'm gonna retire it for occasional use and purchase on with a/c adapter.

I bought 2, the batteries might last a week, the suction was decent but they are messy, already had to buy new filters, they're noisy, blow tiny ash through the filter vents, collect more ash inside where the fan sucks in the smoke, can't get them clean because of the poor designed top piece, my cigarette falls out because it's not deep enough unless I put it in sideways. I want my money back as these were expensive. Totally disgusted with the product. The fan gets loud and obnoxious. They're just not worth it.

Well if this is the worlds best we're in trouble. The unit seems effective in pulling in the smoke, but it is extremely loud. This and a couple other shortcomings is why I give it three instead of four or even five stars. I bought two of these and they are both very loud so I doubt any of them are quiet. Examining the inside and outside it looks well made electronically and physically, but they need to figure out a way to quiet the fan. It also was designed to work with up to king size cigarettes but certainly not for 100's or cigars. You must put them in at an angle through the archway slots in top because of the dividers, and if top is removed it won't be as effective filtering smoke. Once they quiet the fan and make it better accomodate cigars and 100s it may indeed be the worlds best. I have oiled fans with WD-40 and tried all kinds of things to quiet them without success. I have had these for several weeks now and they are still noisy. I have changed the batteries and filters a few times and I am not disappointed in the frequency required. I obviously use them, but I do wish they were quieter. To bad I can't post a sound file here to show you the noise the two I have make. If you wear a hearing device you can turn down or use earplugs these may indeed be the best for you. My Value-to-Price Ratio: 2/5. The closer to 5, the better the buy. To test this product, I purchased two: One from Holmes and this one. The Holmes was an irresistible choice because of the brand name. Holmes is the industry leader in home ventilation products, so I knew from the git-go it would be a good buy. (I have two of their excellent fans.). I chose this one based on the favorable user reviews and the design. It has a smaller footprint than most and a cover that captures the smoke without having to be opened, unlike the Holmes. It definitely gets the job done, and has two charcoal filters to cleanse the exhaust before circulating it back into the room. The intake is powerful enough to work with several smokes simultaneously, and the snuff out holes provide confidence that no hazardous embers will escape. I like this one almost as much as the Holmes. It's a very good value for the price. If noise is a concern, however, this one isn't for you. The fan is loud enough to be noticeable above conversation and your ear does not accustom to it and tune it out eventually. The noise is just too loud and the motor "clicks" as it whirs. Nonetheless, it's not so loud as to be annoying and discourage use. If I needed another, I'd buy it again.

It only uses 2 C batteries and is truly smokeless. I replaced the type where the smoke is sucked in through the lid and expelled in the base. That type has to be closed to turn it off. If you have hot ashes in that type it tends to melt or deform the lid. With this one, you have an external switch to control the fan. Hot ashes left in this one have no adverse effect. It is easy to clean and easy to change filters. I have since bought another. If I continue to smoke, I will add more around the house

I ordered 2 of these ashtrays. One works great - for how long, I don't know. Pretty quiet as advertised, which is why I purchased them in the first place. The other one is super noisy. I had a different brand, and it was horrible. So noisy that it was not useable. I thought this brand would be much better. So, I'm keeping one and sending the other one back for an exchange. I'm hoping for the best for the replacement. And, I hope they last for a while.

My husband is a none smoker and I am a smoker. I purchased this to see if it would help with the amount of smoke in our bedroom. He say's it greatly reduces the amount of smoke in this area and we have a very large bedroom. I will recommend that if you purchase this do not buy the cheap battery's because they don't last long and I recommend you buy extra carbon filter's and re[lace them once a week even I was surprised by the amount of nicotine it captured. The filter's were completely blackened yellowed. Highly recommend this. Trina

I read the reviews because we had a Holmes ashtray that stopped working in a year. So far this is as reviewed, quieter than the Holmes, easier to empty with stronger suction to pull in the smoke. It is my husband who smokes in one room of the house, and he HS not complained about the cigarette falling off. Time will tell. I'll try to review again in a year.
