Merriam-Webster’s Crossword Puzzle Dictionary

This has help me with doing my crossword puzzles.

This book is almost double the pages of my old one (2nd edition) so that can be good or bad depending. I don’t travel with mine often so I don’t mind the larger size and am happy to have more words! I often reference this book when writing poetry. So this book is perfect for those that often look up synonyms.

Lots of great words but hard to look at for too long because the print is very small. I wouldn’t recommend it if someone has poor vision since there is so much on each page.

I used my previous edition so much that it is falling apart, and this new version will replace it. It is pretty comprehensive if you become familiar with the organization of the book. There are some lists that I would like to have included, such as Greek and Hebrew alphabets and names of months, which seem to come up in clues in puzzles. I've made my own and attached them to the back cover.

About time!!! One of my hobbies is working word game puzzles and it's a hobby that I participate in several times a week. I've been doing these puzzles for well over 15 years. Over the years I've bought several crossword puzzle dictionaries. The hardbacks were okay but too large and heavy to throw in a bag with a puzzle book/magazine. The two previous paperback dictionaries had begun to fall apart and one so badly that it was in four separate sections and held together by a rubber band. So I bit the bullet and ordered this new edition of Merriam-Webster's dictionary. They've added new words--just as the cover advertised--and overall I've been pleased with the ease at which I find synonyms for various words. At 1390+ plus pages it is a handful of a book but still light enough to carry around. I keep it on the little table/bookcase by my chair so I can grab it quickly when I doing my word puzzles and need to look for a particular word. I'm going to buy another one that I'll keep in my car for use when I'm in a waiting room or some other place where I can pull out my workbooks and throw some words around.

I enjoy crossword puzzles, but have a hard time with them unless they specify that they are easy. I just got this book today. Very comprehensive and easy to read. Don't get the "mass market" copy. The print will be too small. I know this book is going to give me a lot of help to complete the puzzles.

Small print. I use it often and keep magnifying glass close by.

Have not used it yet but it is thick and fairly small print so I feel there are lots of words in it.

Amazing crossword dictionary and now in enlarged print, this is like a dream come true. I've always enjoyed crosswords but with Merriam-Webster's Crossword Puzzle Dictionary by my side, I know I can attempt even the devilishly hard ones.

Bought for my senior dad and he loves it - this is the only one he'll buy. The typeface (font) is large and easy to read which is important because he's dyslexic. Annotations are great and clues/answers are easy to find. He does the NYT crossword daily and goes through one of these every couple of years.

I am very happy that I purchased the Merriam-Webster Crossword Puzzle Dictionary, 4th edition, in the enlarged print edition. The larger font is great, especially for us older users, and the increased information increases my ability to finish my beloved crosswords. Highly recommended to all people who love doing crossword puzzles, but especially for older folk who need the larger font size.

I bought this for my mom who is in her eighties when her dictionary fell apart. She loves it and says it is far better than a dictionary. She's become a crossword champion! I've had to buy another for the mother-in-law.
