We love Sai Oua, and of course it is difficult to find outside Thailand. We live in the US. I stumbled upon this by accident, and thought, 'what the heck?' I'm glad that I did. We really enjoyed it. The instructions were easy to follow, and making the sausage was pretty easy (and we've never actually stuffed sausage). I did have to purchase a simple sausage... stuffer? Forcer? I dunno, but it was a pretty basic model and it worked fine with the supplied casings. I'm also probably going to try making a 'loose' mix from it. As far as the taste, it's quite good. It is definitely Sai Oua, but... milder? I suspect this would be good augmented with some fresh herbs and chilis. The dried stuff seems to form a good foundation - but I will probably experiment with some additional 'doctoring'. Will definitely order again.

I guess I should have enlarged the page to make sure I read all the ingredients before buying this. Some years ago, I developed an allergy to MSG, which was why I learned to cook southeast asian dishes at home. So I can't eat MSG & also avoid soy protein (why add fake protein when you've already got real protein from the pork?). And nobody wants siicone dioxide in their food. Unfortunately, when I tried to initiate a return, it said this wasn't returnable. But a quick call to Amazon got them to issue me a credit.
