Fantastic pillow If you experience neck pain!
This Sobokowa pillow is wonderful, if you experience cervical neck pain. I had purchased a different cervical pillow which turned out to have no support whatsoever, and I needed a new one. I chose the queen size Sobokawa pillow, and I'm really glad that I did. I am able to roll it up under my neck and that helps me get comfortable enough to fall asleep. During the night I roll over frequently, and the pillow always has sufficient support whether I sleep on my side or my back. In the morning, I no longer wake up with neck pain, which is the most important point of all. I feel it is a great value for the money. I experienced no odd smell whatsoever. This is a very high quality, great pillow.

Great pillow if you have neck pain
I have had problems with waking up with crik in my neck or just cannot get comfortable with standard pillows. Iโve spent a lot of money on memory foam pillows which are fine but after 3 months they lose their memory or become too squishy. I have been using the buckwheat pillows for about 12 yrs. I replace it every year or two. It supports my neck and head well all night. It does take a night or two to get used to it because itโs smaller than standard pillow. I like the smaller one verses the larger ones that are available. The best way to use, for me is to lay it on the bed, making sure the buckwheat is distributed evenly. Then when I lay down, I move my head back and forth, making a cradle like depression. I will never use a fluffy pillow again and I always pack it in my suitcase when I go on trips. It is heavy but not any heavier than a memory pillow. Try it, you will have the best sleep and no sore neck. You can also sleep on your side, if you are a side sleeper. Sweet dreams!!

Great support but too small and overpriced - bought elsewhere
I'm giving this buckwheat hull pillow 4 out of 5 stars. The product quality is excellent, but there are some practical issues. This is genuinely a good product. The buckwheat hull filling provides the firm, strong support that I personally prefer - it's much better than memory foam for my needs. I really appreciate how it maintains its shape and doesn't compress like traditional pillows do. The support is consistent throughout the night, which helps with my neck and spine alignment. However, I have two significant complaints: size and price. This pillow is simply too small for my preferences, and the price point is quite high for what you get. When I calculated the cost per cubic inch of filling, it just didn't seem like good value. The quality is definitely there - the buckwheat hulls are clean, the cover is well-made, and the construction feels durable. If you're someone who likes firm support and this size works for you, and if price isn't a major concern, then this would be a great choice. Unfortunately, I ended up purchasing from a different seller who offered a larger size at a better price point. It's a shame because the product itself is well-made, but the size and cost factors made me look elsewhere. I'd recommend shopping around before settling on this particular option.

Cool Pillow
These buckwheat hull pillows are really good to have. They are "moldable" and stay cool because they don't absorb your body heat. I always keep it in 2 pillowcases to keep it fresh longer. I use it for a lower back support as well as for my head and neck.

What I wanted but case is thin and can't open it to remove some of the fill
A good pillow is a must. After trying all kinds of fill, buckwheat is my clear favorite. You can mold it like a down pillow, but it holds its shape better. I can shape it like clay during the night. I can carve out neck support when sleeping on my back, I can bunch it up and not have a soar neck or should when sleeping on my side, and I can flatten it down when I'm sleeping on my stomach. I also like how heavy buckwheat pillows feel. Just a quality fill for sleeping. What I don't like about this pillow is that the case it comes in doesn't feel too tick and sturdy. There's a lot of weight in a buckwheat pillow, and I'm worried it will tear at some point, and I'll have seeds all over my bed. (Hasn't happened, though.) I also don't like that there isn't a zipper on the case so that I can remove some of the fill -- which I really want to do. It's just a few handfuls of fill, too much for my taste. So I might buy another case for it, tear this one open and use that.

It's different, but that's not bad
Just be aware that it's different from other pillows. It's not lightweight and fluffy, or even particularly soft--the weight of the Sobakawa might break someone's neck if you used it in a pillow fight. The buckwheat husks provide a firm support, and there's enough space within the pillow to allow you to shape the husks to best fit the contours of your neck and head. I use a small Sobakawa on top of a medium-sized one, which creates a little step that accommodates my shoulder when I want to sleep on my side; I also slide the small pillow forward to line up with the medium one when I want to sleep on my back. But the best thing about Sobakawas, and the reason I've used them for years, is that they do not get hot. At least, the buckwheat husks don't. The cotton case the husks are contained in will hold a little heat as will any pillow case you put it in, but compared to other pillows, the Sobakawa stays much, much cooler, and that makes a big difference in my ability to sleep comfortably. My only real complaint with them is that they've made it nearly impossible for me to sleep on other pillows, and since Sobakawas are pretty heavy and bulky, it's difficult to take them along when I travel, which means I usually sleep pretty poorly in hotels. But I suppose that's true for most people. In any case, I definitely recommend Sobakawa pillows if you're willing to give yourself some time to get used to them. You will end up sleeping better, but they feel different than the pillows most people--most Americans, anyway--use, so there it will likely take at least a few nights to get accustomed to the different feel. But aren't a few night, or even a few weeks, worth it to sleep better and more comfortably in the long term?

Not great in my opinion :)
This pillow has 1000s of seemingly great reviews, and great! Most of my reviews are 5 stars so I just want to offer a different and realistic perspective for this pillow. I have had neck pain for maybe a month but I think it was related to my crappy bed which was shaped like a canoe, and actually the manufacturer just refunded my money as it qualified as a defect, but after about a 1.5 years on this horrible bed, I was left with residual neck pain, so started thinking I needed a new pillow too, and tried a few and maybe I'm just super picky and a stomach/side sleeper... oh I'm 51 and in great shape though, anyway I saw the reviews and thought this might do the trick... wellll.... it's about the oddest pillow ever, filled with beads (husks) seems more like a bean bag, but what's worse is it's loud if you put your ear on it (stomach sleeper or side) it sounds like you're sleeping on a bag of Doritos and feels about the same. It is very firm and not comfortable in my opinion. The best thing about it is it immediately made me realize how great my down pillow was! lol Congratulations to the manufacturers on all the success and I'm glad it helps a lot of people, but my 'husk' pillow will be returned to the husk pile lol

This is the best pillow ever made (forget other reviews!)
Amazon gave a warning that this item is usually returned. Why I had no idea. Yes, the pillow is small, and I bought the Queen size pillow first. Although the Queen size is good, the filling has a way of spreading out so not as much support as the smaller one. I have had surgery (spinal surgery at C2 and C3), and need very strong support with a pillow with thickness. With this pillow, I have no neck pain when sleeping. The value for the money of this item is perfect, with it being even better than the Queen size. Again, the thickness is important, and the raised height is perfect for the neck. People that return this item have not given it a chance. I am glad to see this product is still on the market.

small but comfortable
Why did you choose this product over others?: Yes, comfortable and cool for sleeping. I was surprised that it is quite small - I will have to alter (sew) a special pillowcase for it.

The perfect pillow!
Background story: I had shoulder pain for years because I bench pressed too hard and my friend didn't catch the bar on time and my shoulder gave out. I tried massotherapy, chiropractic treatment and shoulder exercises/stretches, as well as rest to solve my problem. Nothing really worked and I knew that I just needed a good pillow to support my neck until it recovered properly. I tried numerous pillows to solve this issue and this is the only pillow that actually cured my shoulder/neck pain after a single night's use! The following days have been even better, surprisingly. It is smaller than I expected, but I like it because I can get closer to my wife at night to cuddle her and not worry about having a pillow covering her face when I get closer to her. It also gives room for our cat to join us ๐ Definitely get this pillow. I sleep on my side and sometimes my back. I did not regret my purchase at all! No smell, very comfortable and it got rid of my shoulder/neck pain! It's more affordable than surgery, so it's worth the price

Small but mighty.
I saw some reviews before purchasing that the pillow was smaller than expected. It is smaller than a standard pillow (about 48ร34cm) as I believe is listed in description. So be aware if ur expecting something larger! The pillow itself is great. You can sort of mold it and it does feel like it stays nive and cool all night.
