Really nice tea with incredible attention to detail in packaging
Let's start with the packaging: This tea comes vacuum sealed in a nice package that "pops" when you cut the seal. It has a very long neck so that, after you cut it open, you have a nice long top to pour it into the container it's going to stay in. Vahdam has included a thick, dark plastic, zip top bag for you. The bag is folded up inside the cardboard box and unlabeled. But never fear: There is a VERY LARGE full color label that looks just like picture on the box. I peeled this label and applied it to the zip top bag, then poured the pound of tea into it. It seals solidly and is light proof. This is a great addition so the tea will stay fresh for a long time. The taste and smell: Initially I was a little put off by the "flowery" smell of this tea. I have only had a few other Assam teas, so I'm not sure what a very high quality Assam should smell like. This has kind of a sharp note, as opposed to the warm notes I get from Ceylon tea. I initially used about the recommended amount of tea: Approximately 4 grams for 12 to 14 oz of water. The recommendation is 2 grams for 7 oz of water. I use a bigger cup! That cup of tea was flowery at first and then a little bit malty as it cooled. It was fine, but not really what I wanted. For my next cup the following day I used more like 5.5 grams for 12 to 14 oz of water. This cup was very different. Very little flower taste. The malt became much more prominent and increased as the tea cooled. The flower and (very mild) astringency showed up in the after taste. This was a much more satisfying cup of tea for me. I like malt and this muted malt was nice and seemed to keep changing as I drunk it. The last few sips seemed to have a (very mild) chocolate flavor. For me, using a good bit more than the recommended amount of tea is the way to drink it. I like this tea and will be drinking more. So a very nice tasting Assam with the best, most useful, packaging I have ever seen. Recommended!

Surpassing all expectations
North Welsh, and a lifelong practitioner, connoisseur, and devotee of tea, having lived extensively in Asia, Africa, and Europe, and having visited India at length many times, Assam tea remains my favourite tea. The search for good tea is constant. By good, I mean balanced, strength, and all the aspects of tea which render its synaesthetic character perceivable and enjoyable – hue, fragrance, taste, even feel within the mouth. It is not a matter of cost, but of integrity. In Vahdam Assam tea, has my quest for worthy Assam found realisation? Now, at every step of the way from the admiration of the packaging, to the seal of that packaging…to my first sight, smell, and feel of the dry tea leaves…to the brewing – the expectation, the wonder, the fulfilment…to the sipping, with and without heated whole raw milk… Now, tried again and again, and a third time…a new ritual created… Yes, unequivocally, I believe that Vahdam Assam tea is the best Assam I have had outside of India, and as good as any consumed there. As integrity is wholeness, after the tea has been savoured, the tea leaves themselves, having rendered their sublime gift of tea, reveal the conservation of that wholeness, that fullness. Brilliant, as no other Assam I have ever brewed. Finally, Vahdam's awareness of ethical, humanitarian, and environmental concerns has not gone unnoticed, un-noted. In the world today, one must make the choice, the commitment to contribute to the greater good, or remain amongst those too complacent, too indifferent to care. Vahdam cares. Just as their tea is bliss, their commitment is glaring. Vahdam has my unreserved acclamation!

Everything A Cup Of Tea Should Be
Oh my, this Assam makes a lovely cup of tea. Smooth, “malty”, with a beautiful cognac color and delicate scent, this tea is a must-have in your larder. No more bags! Loose leaf is the only way to make tea. I highly recommend.

Good flavor, good value for money
This is a good Assam. The leaves are large and fragrant, the flavor is vibrant with a note of tang and smoke (ideal as your morning tea). The price is quite affordable too. I didn't give this blend 5 stars for one reason: while the flavor is certainly bright and has quite a body, I wish it were a bit more malty and smooth. But things like this also depend on the year in which the leaves were harvested, so quite good overall.

Great tea and great tea company
First thing I noticed was the 'harvested on' date on the bottom of the high quality and attractive package while searching for the steeping instructions (which was not included 🤔) The tea itself is a dark whole leaf with a woodsy aroma. I steeped a pot for 3 minutes. The tea was a rich, dark red color with a wonderful flavor though a bit bitter, which disappeared completely with cream and a tiny bit of honey. For my next pot I reduced the amount of tea and steeped for 2.5 minutes and was rewarded with a smooth, not bitter, cup of tea which still tasted wonderful with cream. My prior tea was Chinese from an online provider and though a beautiful tea it was often unavailable (out of stock) and I was just not satisfied with the significantly more expensive alternatives (lighter oolong). Next comment is regarding the wonderful letter from the company's founder that showed up in my inbox. This was the 'icing on the cake' and earned my respect for this tea and this tea company. So I'm a new and faithful Vahdam customer! Now just print your steeping instructions on your package and you will be absolutely perfect 😁

Great Tasting Black Tea
Vahdam brand Daily Assam loose leaf tea is the best tasting black tea I've ever tried. I've been drinking PG Tips extra strength but it's not available in tea bags anymore so I went back to the drawing board and decided to try loose leaf. Daily Assam is smooth and strong with no hint of bitterness. It's also real leaves. I like my tea extra strong in a 12 oz mug with a little sugar & milk so the first cup I made I doubled the recommended amount of leaves to 4 tsp and it was perfect. It arrived on time in a small box with instructions and shrink wrapped. Also included is a heavy duty light blocking storage pouch. It was a very thoughtful, unexpected touch. Tea quests can be expensive, so I'm very happy I found this tea on my first try.

and life is good. I blend this with some other tea leaves ...
Two months ago I bought this product and now I am almost finished with the entire bag. I drink it almost everyday, and life is good. I blend this with some other tea leaves I have at hand (7:3 ratio) to make hong kong style milk tea. Typically I brew it hot then drink it ice cold. To put things in context: I really like assam. Ever since I decided to make the best personalized milk tea, I purchased dozens of black tea as I discover them in shopping malls, other countries, asian markets...etc. I eventually chose assam as the main body for my milk tea (over ceylon, english breakfast or other famous tea for making milk tea), after trying out a bunch of brands for each. Then I started buying assam from a farmers market 45min drive away, which were around $3.5 per ounce but whose quality is the best among all I've tried. Finally one day I decided to shop online - and came across this product - and man it's great. I honestly can't clearly recall how good it is compared to the one I have in farmers market, but I'm fairly sure this product has comparable, if not better, quality. The strongest points I feel for this product is its quantity, price, convenience (as opposed to driving 45 minutes I could have it delivered to me), and its top-notch quality even among the dozens of brands of tea I tried. If you are trying to make milktea, I recommend this to you - it is the best I know. However this has been my first experience shopping for assams online, and as a continued effort to pursue higher grounds in creating the ultimate milk tea, I need to buy a few more brands before coming back to this one. I am looking to re-purchase this product within a year - and hopefully by then I'll be able to give a more comprehensive and objective review.

Good stuff here! Buy it and try it!
So my review is tough because I know that everyone on this planet has different taste buds and will not feel exactly the same way I do. I like all teas. I try all different stuff all the time just to do it. I bought this because I was getting tired of my fiance buying $8.00 gallons of strawberry unsweetened black tea from McAlister's Deli. Which I must say does taste amazing. BUT,,,, I got this tea, and some really good Monin strawberry puree also here on amazon, and the very first batch that I made tastes exactly, and I mean exactly like McAlisters tea. I swear if I switched it out my fiance would not be able to tell the difference at all. Now maybe I just got lucky, because it all has to do with the temperature and steep times, but I think I will get it perfected. Who knows, maybe this is the same tea that they actually use in the restaurant. All I can say is give it a try. Drink it straight, hot or cold, add some honey or some other flavors. You can have your own little starbucks in your own kitchen. I will purchase from them again and probably try all different types. Good luck to you all and thank you VAHDAM!

Excellent
I'm relatively new on my journey of teas. I do know that I prefer an Assam to any of the more floral varieties. This tea, at least to my taste, defines the descriptor "malty". It is a very full and robust, well rounded flavor. If you're looking for that astringent cut of a dry tannin in your tea, don't look here. (And this is coming from someone that does enjoy a tart tannin tea as well). There is true depth in the flavor of this tea and I wholly appreciate it. I'm a strong tea guy, I put four full spoons of this tea into my diffuser and let it steep for close to 5 minutes. I will definitely buy this again, and of the 7 or 8 teas that I've tried so far this is the first one that I can say that about.
