A #1 New York Times bestseller! A New York Times Best Illustrated Children's Book of 2011! A picture-book delight by a rising talent tells a cumulative tale with a mischievous twist. The bear’s hat is gone, and he wants it back. Patiently and politely, he asks the animals he comes across, one by one, whether they have seen it. Each animal says no, some more elaborately than others. But just as the bear begins to despond, a deer comes by and asks a simple question that sparks the bear’s memory and renews his search with a vengeance. Told completely in dialogue, this delicious take on the classic repetitive tale plays out in sly illustrations laced with visual humor — and winks at the reader with a wry irreverence that will have kids of all ages thrilled to be in on the joke. Review: Perfect storytime book for kids - This book (and the other two in the series) are my absolute favorite to read to the kids in my life. They can be a little dark, but if kids aren't ready for it then it isn't obvious. I love the illustrations. Review: Hats off to joy - "I Want My Hat Back" by Jon Klassen is a whimsical journey into the world of a bear in search of his beloved hat. 📚🐻 📖✨ Klassen's brilliantly simple yet hilarious storytelling, paired with the charming illustrations, creates an engaging experience for both kids and adults. The humor is clever, and the unexpected twists make it a joy to read over and over again. This book is a timeless gem that sparks laughter and brings warmth to every reading session. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a whimsical and entertaining story! 🎩🐻🌟

Kids love it.
Kids love it. Great book for doing different voices for all of the animals when you read it to them.

Funny and beautiful illustrations to boot!
This book is just hysterical. My husband and I fell in love with it and after years of borrowing them from the library we finally sucked it up and bought it (it's kind of expensive as far as children's books go). Our daughter is 3 now but we started reading it to her when she was 1.5. It's nice because this is one of those books that seems super simple and like it might get old fast but it just doesn't. Each time you read it, you see or think of something new. And for some reason kids are enthralled with it. We have gotten soooo many laughs out of this book. The funny thing is, I normally do not buy books with themes where someone is stealing something--and to be honest, some of Klassen's other books do not sit well with me, as I find them too naughty or cynical and don't particularly think they are appropriate. But this one is great even though it is a bit sinister. Somehow when you read it, it just reads very innocently. The illustrations are outstanding--simple yet detailed and witty. They go perfectly with the story. This is one of those books that is as much fun for the parent to read as the kid. Go for it!

Amusing for kids and adults
I got this for my daughters based on a recommendation from Brett McKay of the Art of Manliness website -- he loves reading it to his son, and they both enjoy it immensely. The story is simple and somewhat repetitive, great for younger readers or reading out loud to children who are still learning. The simple water color illustrations are charming, too. I enjoy reading it to my daughters, especially since after the first couple times through you can really put some inflection and characterization into the dialog.

Parents who dislike this book are raising their kids wrong.
I was shocked to find that this book had a single review that's less than 5 stars. Then I read a few of those reviews, and realized that they were all from 1-star parents, appalled that their 4 year old could be exposed to the idea that if you steal and lie, bad things actually can happen to you. And if you're stealing from a giant bear, those bad things might be violent. So, fair warning... DO NOT buy this book if: You are an overprotective helicopter parent who is raising a complete wiener of a child, preparing them to exist only in an idealistic fantasy world that has never existed and will never exist, no matter how many indignant letters you write to the school board demanding that all playgrounds be wrapped in locally-sourced holistic-pediatrician-approved hypoallergenic foam bumpers. Instead, drive around at 5 mph under the speed limit with your child in the back seat of your Prius, playing him or her the audiobook version of "You Are Special And Perfect And If Anything Even Remotely Bad Ever Happens To You (Which It Surely Won't) I Will Sue Whomever I Feel Is Responsible, So You Just Keep Indulging Your Every Whim, And I'll Keep Figuratively Breast Feeding You Well Into Your Thirties, When You Still Live In Our Basement". It got a great review in the New York Times. DO buy this book if you want an exquisitely illustrated story, told concisely and poetically, with the perfect amount of Edward-Gorey-esque grownup reality, humor, and quiet subtleties that will help make your kids awesome individuals.

c'est pas moi
Très mignon, très beau, très doux. A offrir les yeux fermés. Les miens ont aimés lorsqu'ils avaient moins de 7 ans, maintenant, ils accrochent moins.

Just the best most surprising little book !.
A family favourite and one that i think will be enjoyed by kids for many years to come. Each of the characters is brought to life so brilliantly.

“My hat is gone. I want it back” 帽子を無くしたクマさん、“Have you seen my hat?”

Ho acquistato I Want My Hat Back in lingua inglese e devo dire che è stata una scelta azzeccata.
