Professional 1 Series 104-BT Compact Desktop Reference Monitors with Bluetooth, Black, Sold as Pair, 4.5-inch Speaker

I was surprised, these actually have a lot of sound for such small space. Makes my laptop sound great. The only draw back is the bluetooth causes a delay between the picture and the sound, so if you are watching news or something else, the sound doens't match the mouth of the person speaking. It can be distracting. I just plug them in instead of using the bluetooth.

How to fix the speaker sleep issue. I love these speakers but the sleep mode is annoying and really useless. I found the fix and it worked. I did have to do it 2 times, but it worked great. From the manual, to fix it: To disable Standby Mode, use the following procedure: 1. Set POWER switch to the OFF position. 2. Connect headphones to the HEADPHONE output on the MASTER MONITOR. 3. Set the VOLUME control to the minimum (full counter-clockwise) setting. 4. Set the POWER switch to the ON position. Within a period of 15 seconds complete the following steps: a. Disconnect the headphones. b. Reconnect the headphones. c. Disconnect headphones again. d. Reconnect headphones again. NOTE: This procedure must be completed within 15 seconds after performing Step 4. The POWER LED will flash rapidly 5 times to indicate the process is complete

These are very fine desktop monitor speakers: Pros: They look awesome (I have the white pair, but they come in black as well). The design, while reminiscent of a giant suppository, stands out visually. They are SOLID. Everything about them feels very secure -- so probably, no rattling problems will occur. I doubt they are made of wood (not in that shape!) and whatever material they are using for the enclosure feels solid and firm. They sound very CRISP, CLEAR, and have a good thumping bass. The mid-range is a bit hollow at first, but as the speakers age and condition, this should work itself out. I think it is common to all NEW speakers and even headphones. They have plenty of volume, no problems there. They have excellent stereo separation, making a wide stereo sound stage, even when only a few feet apart. Hook-up was easy. They come with speaker wire, a power cable and a 3.5mm male to two RCA male (red and white) cable to connect to a computer. They also have 1/4" TRS type inputs, as well as Bluetooth, and a 3.5mm input jack on the front, as well as a muting headphone jack. I haven't tried the bluetooth, so I don't know how they perform, with it. CONS: None really. They could sound a bit warmer, but that will come in time through use. OVERALL: A great set of speakers at an affordable price for computer studio monitors. Great for mixing music and vocals into a video. I like them.

I’ve been living with JBL speakers for decades — long before Bluetooth, long before “desktop monitors” became a category. I still own a pair of JBL L-100s, and over the years I’ve had JBL-loaded guitar amps that taught me early what real sound is supposed to feel like. So let me be very clear: This review is not coming from a newbie. The JBL 104-BTs are small, yes — but they scream JBL in the best possible way. The stereo separation is stunning. The phantom center is dead-locked. Voices snap into place exactly where they belong, and instruments occupy real, intelligible space. Nothing is smeared. Nothing is hyped. Nothing is “helped.” The bass won’t shake your desk like a subwoofer — and that’s the point. It’s defined, present, accurate, and correct. You hear pitch, intent, and timing, not boom. This is reference sound at arm’s length. What impressed me most is how quickly these speakers disappear. That’s not an accident. That’s design philosophy. JBL doesn’t flatter recordings — it tells the truth. If you feed them something honest (Steely Dan, Bill Evans, orchestral work), they reward you with coherence and realism that’s frankly breathtaking for their size. Robert Pirsig wrote about Quality as something you don’t think about — it simply takes hold of you. That’s exactly what happens here. You stop analyzing and just listen. When a speaker does that, it’s doing something very right. Bottom line: JBL didn’t make a toy. They made a tool — one that reflects decades of hard-earned acoustic wisdom. These 104-BTs carry the same DNA as the great JBLs that came before them. JBL still rules the roost. Anyone who’s been in the trenches long enough will hear it immediately. Highly, unreservedly recommended.

These are some high quality speakers, the sound is crisp, the base subtle and yet noticeable. my only qualms is i am no artists nor do i produce/make music so I'm forced to connect the speakers by Bluetooth and in doing so there is an undeniable lag between the video and audio which i cannot ignore so it will be the reason for the 4 stars.

I purchased these speakers a year ago to listen to music, and to watch YouTube and movies on my iPad and laptop monitor when working in my home office. These are fantastic speakers with a solid build! I decided to take a moment and write this review because I had never cranked up the volume before until tonight as I usually keep them at a low volume so I can concentrate. Well, man! I should be using these in my living room because they sound great cranked up. The bass, which is mild when the volume is low really punches when the volume is high. The sound is crisp and clear and music sounds really wonderful. NOTE: other reviews have complained about the loud chime when connecting to Bluetooth or switching between devices, however, I find the chime turns off if you set the “INPUT SELECT” to “ALL MODE.” And some have complained about the wires being loose but I have not experienced that. Everything works well and these speakers are heavy with a very solid build in my opinion. The tweeter is placed in the center of the speaker like KEFF speakers and I think that adds tremendously to the excellent quality of the sound. Bluetooth works great too! I highly recommend these for anyone who wants good bass and awesome clarity in their music.

I have always had a good experience with JBL products, which is why I decided to purchase this model. I previously owned JBL UA Flash X Waterproof True Wireless Bluetooth Sport Earbuds and two JBL Link Music Compact Smart Speakers, and they worked great. Unfortunately, this purchase was a huge mistake. The speakers themselves perform well, and I have no complaints about the sound quality. However, after just a few months of ownership, the clip on the back of the powered speaker that holds the wire connecting to the second speaker broke. The spring snapped, and the small plastic piece fell off. Without this clip, the wire cannot stay in place, making the second speaker completely useless. I tried to fix it, but the more I attempted, the worse it got—eventually breaking into pieces. This issue might have been tolerable if JBL’s customer support was helpful. Sadly, it was the opposite. Since this is part of their “professional” speaker line, they refer you to JBL Pro Support, who will do nothing unless you bring the speakers to an authorized pro dealer. If you live in a state without a local pro dealer, you’re simply out of luck. So now, I own speakers that technically work, but I cannot use the second one because of a broken plastic clip—and JBL offers no reasonable solution. Their so-called “Pro Support” is useless. Rating: 0/10 for JBL’s customer support. I will never buy another JBL product again.

These speakers could have been the best thing since amoxicillin. The sound is beautiful. You can hear every detail, and the clarity and volume are genuinely impressive. If sound quality were the only issue, these would be outstanding. The problem is everything else. These speakers are very heavy. They do have Bluetooth, but they are not wireless. And worst of all, they disconnect constantly. As long as you stay near the TV, they work fine. But if you step away for 5 or 10 minutes, they disconnect, and you have to reconnect them all over again. If you use them throughout the day, you may end up doing this over and over. Because of that, these speakers should absolutely have come with a remote control. They do not. A remote would at least make the constant reconnecting less irritating. Plus, there is no way to lower, raise, or mute the sound. You have to turn the volume up or down on the speakers themselves. There is absolutely no way to mute the sound on the speakers or your listening source with your remote control. All of that becomes disabled once the speakers are connected. I bought these speakers a week ago for $124, and now the seller has jacked up the price to $199. In my opinion, they are worth about $50 at most given the inconvenience. So here is the bottom line: if you do not mind large, heavy speakers that sound great but disconnect constantly, have no remote, and now cost close to $200 with tax, then maybe these are for you. But if repeatedly reconnecting Bluetooth is going to drive you crazy, run. I am returning them for a full refund unless I find a set of TV/PC Bluetooth speakers that actually work the way they should. **Also, make sure the listing does not say “renewed” or “refurbished.” In my experience, refurbished items often cost nearly as much as brand-new ones. At that point, you are usually better off buying new. You have been forewarned.

These work fine for amateur use or poor professionals. Sound reproduction is reasonable but not mind blowing. What you get is what you pay and that is all I ask for.

Premetto che sono un amante delle yamaha msp, ho la serie 5 e la serie 3...cercavo una soluzione "portatile" compatta e performante e dopo decine di audio test online le ho preferite alle iloud micro (sembravano troppo bassose) e ne sono contento: paragonate fianco a fianco con le yamaha msp3 sembrano sorelle nella timbrica e nella copertura delle frequenze...ovviamente in potenza non reggono il confronto, ma sono più che sufficienti per ascoltare musica in casa o come monitor da scrivania! Davvero soddisfatto e assolutamente consigliate...se non siete amanti delle dinamiche bassose tipo krk...
