Does this touch the surface of the nose?

No The pads on your cheeks and on your forehead give a good inch of space. After removing the pads and putting it on my nose does touch slightly

Can you wash the velcro attachments (because of sweat)? How would you recommend washing them without it loosing it’s effectiveness?

The Velcro is removable and washable. I would wash in delicate and hang dry to keep the elasticity

Yes it would work for almost any type of activity
