The Best 3rd Party Controller for the 360
I'm usually very picky about 3rd party controllers but the look, price and reviews inspired me to give this one a try. Anyone who's been gaming for awhile knows that 3rd party controllers mostly range from just ok to horrible. I've never been happy with them. I always opt for OEM, I this case, Microsoft brand controllers for their consoles. In this case though, the Xbox 360 has been discontinued for over a decade so you don't always get that option. I needed a new controller for my Xbox 360 and today, you either pay alot for a new unsold Microsoft, a decent amount for a used Microsoft of unknown condition or a new and usually much cheaper 3rd party controller like this. Fortunately, 3rd party has gotten better over the years. Even better is this controller is by far the best and most like the original that I've ever seen or used. For those familiar with the original controllers, it's not exact in feel or the clicks of the buttons but it's real close. Close enough I'd say. The buttons do make that loud click sound that 3rd party controllers always do but in the hand, it feels 90% there. The shape and weight are right on. The texture is a bit off and the buttons are very clicky but for something that's this close to the original and at this price, that's perfectly acceptable. It also accepts the same battery packs as the original. The only other difference is that it connects to the Xbox by way of a dongle inserted in one of the USB ports. That and you cannot remotely turn on the Xbox by pressing the home button in the center like the original. Other than that, it's been a great controller. I've used it extensively over the last month and its worked perfectly with a variety of games. This one has changed my mind about what's possible for 3rd party controllers and I'd have no problem buying another one if needed. Recommended.

Great overall performance
This is the second controller from this brand I’ve gotten and I love them, insane battery life and a good feel in the hand with a very reliable and lag free connection.

Not Perfect, but Better than My 10 Year Old Microsoft Controller
Overall feel of the controller is good, and does feel better than my 10 year old controller that came with my 360. Analog sticks feel tight and buttons feel good to press. This appears to be a good alternative to a Microsoft branded 360 controller which are no longer available. There are a few issues. The player indicator light around the center button always flashes in 3 short pulses. This issue exists with the controller as both player 1 and 2 (didn't try 3 or 4). The joysticks have a larger deadzone at the end of their travel than what is ideal. They show as fully tilted when they are still decently far from the edge of their throw. I've only used this controller with my PC so far using the Microsoft Wireless Adapter. I'm hoping that this controller lasts a long time.

A near-perfect alternative
So here's what you need to know: This is essentially a near-perfect copy of the old official Xbox 360 controller. The dimensions are the same. The buttons feel the same. The sticks feel the same. The battery compartment is identical and it works with rechargeable packs meant for the first-party controller. It connects to the PC wireless Xbox 360 controller receiver (but does NOT have Bluetooth; You need the receiver to use this with PC) and it is mapped as an Xinput device so it works perfectly with all your recent PC games right out of the box. I even weighed the two controllers. They weigh exactly the same (7.4 ounces) so it's a pretty good bet they have the same or nearly identical parts inside. Control feels good. Buttons are responsive. There are only a couple minor differences between this and the official controller. First, obviously the Astarry doesn't have the Xbox branding on it (no X on the Home button, and no Xbox 360 logo on top. There is a space for the holograph, too, but of course there isn't a holograph on the Astarry). Second, the Home button light blinks in a pattern instead of staying on steadily when paired. That's it. I love the controller. It's everything I hoped it would be, which is to say I wanted an Xbox 360 controller that was like the official one, but for the lowest price possible, and this is as close as you're going to get with that goal. It's fantastic. I was a bit sad that the blue one is more expensive than the black one. I would have liked blue, but I can't see paying more money for a different color. It should be noted that this doesn't come with the PC receiver for Xbox 360 controllers. That's sold separately. I have two of them myself; One's an official one, and the other is a cheap knock-off, and both of them work with this controller. I do not have an Xbox 360 anymore, so I can't test this on the console, but I assume that since it connects wirelessly with the receiver that it will also connect to the Xbox 360 without a problem. Unfortunately, these are such perfect replicas of the original Xbox 360 controllers that they also inherited two of the Xbox 360 controller's well-known issues: First, the analog sticks are super-sensitive, which makes delicate movements in some games hard, requiring you to set up low sensitivity in game or widen dead-zones with third-party software. Second, the D-pad is an 8-way disc-style pad instead of an inlaid cross. This means that occasionally you might find yourself pressing left or right when you mean to be pressing down or up. This requires getting used to the controller's design, but it's not a "flaw"-- It's just how Microsoft designed the original, and it's what's replicated here. If you're looking for a low-cost alternative to the official controller, this is your best choice. I'm not just saying that, either. This really is an excellent third-party controller. Five stars, as long as you understand what you're getting.
