Very Strong and Excellent Safety Features
After reading the reviews on Consumer Reports, I decided on this one. First, the LX220 arrived 6 days early! It came with a small bottle of lubricant and some plastic bags. Very easy to set up. Nice looking. I was able to shred 18 sheets of thickish ink jet paper at a time. I tried 20 sheets, but the unit gave a red light. Then I shred a DVD disc without a problem. Then I started shredding batches of documents and receipts I inherited, many had staples and some had paper clips. No problems. I filled up the 8-gallon bin without a jam. A yellow light comes on when it's full. Very pleased with how small the cuts are. Seems like you could make a pillow out of the cuttings. Rather thickish junk mail went through without a hitch. It wouldn't have made it through my older Staples junk mail shredder. The unit is very quiet. A lot quieter than my Staples cross-cut shredder. My Nespresso coffee maker makes more noise. If you touch the opening, the unit stops. To open the drawer, you have to give it a tug. The drawer won't vibrate open when using it. Since it's on wheels, it's easy to maneuver around. Overall, very pleased.

It's a beast, but be prepared to pay for it. I love it regardless.
We purchased the 20-sheet version since it wasn't that much more expensive than the smaller capacities and it gave a better feature set. It is an absolute beast. It went through a couple years worth of shredding in short time, and I never had to worry about staples or paper clips. A tip: I didn't find using a bag inside the machine to be useful. Paper shreddings still fell into the hopper outside the bag. Just fill the hopper then dump the hopper into a bag. Less mess and easier. What I like: +Capacity!! It chews up just about any amount you throw at it. +Doesn't even blink when you throw paper clips or staples in - eats them the same as anything. +Continuous operation. I never had it overheat. Used it constantly for 30 minutes, which is its rated use. +Good looking design. This is purely subjective but it is a nice looking fixture. +Hopper size. I went through 3 hopper fills with my initial purge of to-shred papers. I'd hate to think of how many I'd have gone through with a smaller bin. +Solid feature set with auto-clearing, etc. +LED indication of shredding performance - really dial in how much paper you can feed through at once. +Capacitive touch sensor across both sides of the paper feed which will stop the machine if an errant finger gets too close to the opening. This is a phenomenal feature for safety. +Super easy to set up and get going What I'm indifferent on: =The noise levels are acceptable. The first time I heard it I was amazed how quiet it was, but then I guess I got used to it and it seems to make some noise. Very manageable, but it's still there which I suppose is unavoidable. =The price is what I would expect. I didn't find it especially good value nor did I find it a rip-off. It is significantly more expensive than lesser machines, but "lesser" is definitely the defining characteristic to note. If you've got the money, treat yourself to a very nice piece of kit. I used card points to buy it, which somehow made it feel less bad to spend this much money on what is essentially a luxury item for my home office. What I dislike: -Not much to dislike here. Still wish it could handle more paper at once and I didn't have to orient sheets, but those are a pretty nit-picky complaints that don't really apply at this price point. Conclusion: It's absolutely overkill for our household and work-at-home needs but it is such a wonderful luxury to have a machine that works so well. I've always had cheap old generic shredders. This is such a joy to use and I'm glad I was able to get it.

Absolutely love
Relatively quiet for a shredder. I absolutely made a great buy even though it’s quite pricy, but you usually get what you pay for. I shredded 3 years of monthly bills in about 40 minutes. I deliberately left a paper clip on some pages and never heard it go through or jam. I’m still working on the bag, to use or not. Both sides have issues. It’s a little larger than I expected, but that’s all the cons I can come up with. A friend clued me into the micro cut and I am amazed. The picture of the bag is of 3 years worth of bills. The cuts are so small. Will purchase again if for some reason I need to. Comes in two colors, black or white. I like the clean look of the white. 🌷

lovely looking and excellent shredding
I am 100% happy with this shredder. It shreds into tiny pieces that are impossible to piece together, and looks lovely in my home office. Not too large, and actually very attractive. Best shredder ever.

Almost a great paper shredder
I really like this shredder; big capacity for shredded material and effortlessly shreds what I put in it, however, the red light comes on for no apparent reason and I have to pull the shredded paper container out and reset the shredder to get the red light to go out. Turning the power switch on and off does not reset the red light or whatever is causing it to come on and lock up the shredder. Other than that, it works well and has a reasonable noise level.

Worth the money compared to a shredding service
This is one tough shredder. It’s been running for hours with very few breaks. The chips that come out are really tiny making it essentially impossible to piece the pages back together. It’s quiet for what it does and is pretty intuitive in terms of sensing if hands are nearby and if a jam will occur. If it thinks there will be a jam it pushes the pages back out a little then pulls them back in. I will say it looses half a star because the safety sensors sometimes go crazy and the entire machine goes dark. Not until you either unplug it or pull the drawer does it turn back on. Then it works again for a while until the sensors trip again. That can be disruptive but is a minor nuisance. It appears to be caused by having your hands close to the feeding slot too many times. Sometimes though it’s not an option because receipts are smaller in size. Overall this is a great shredder with a stellar warranty of three years. Let’s see how it holds up over time. Don’t forget to oil it every time you empty the bin though.

Smooth and powerful.
Smooth! I've only used this for paper so far but it's the first "fun" shredder I've owned. Seems very powerful, much quieter than the other shredders I've used. The lights are the "fun" feature as they signal status as the shredder does its thing. A little on the higher priced side but worth it. Now one of the necessary appliances in my office is "fun". I've owned a Fellowes shredder for several decades and finally started having a problem with its switch. I expect this shredder to last a long time. Highly recommended.

Better than expected
Works well and runs for long periods provided you don’t overload it. Reasonably quiet given the job it’s doing, assuming you oil it as recommended. Worth the price. I would absolutely buy it again.

Wow holds a ton of paper
Of course shredders never actually shred the number of papers they advertise so I would never try to shove 20 sheets in the is thing at once but wow I’ve never had (or heard of) a micro shredder before and the bin holds a ton of paper. Way more than even a cross cut shredder. If you hate emptying the paper bin all the time then definitely get this one instead of a cross cut shredder. It turns the paper into tiny confetti so a lot more of it fits in the bin. It says not to shred staples, CDs or credit cards though which is a shame.

SHREDDER BAGS NOT NEEDED!
I asked a question earlier about how to secure bags in the shredder receptacle. I ended up calling Fellowes for guidance. First, you don't even need shredder bags. Second, if you decide to use bags, there are two tabs on each side at the front of the receptacle bin (see Photo #1); take your bag and thread it through under the tab. In Photo #2, I thread the bag twice around the tab for more security. However, as the bag becomes more full, the bag will slip out of the tabs. I got two starter bags with the machine. Once the second one is used, I'll more than likely try it without. All in all, I really love the shredder (I've only been using it for two weeks). I primarily purchased it based on reputation, and I really wanted a white shredder given that all the furniture in my home office is white. Not disappointed!

Lots of shredded material ends up not going in bag.
Spent al good dollar on this machine and there is a great deal of the shredded material that does not get in bag. Each time you empty the bag you will have to clean the bottom of the machine of debris. There is also a great deal of shredded material on the side of the bag. Disappointed about this I am considering to call and see what can be done to return it.
