Velocity Strong Lead

Overall, they’re solid—nothing flashy, but dependable in the ways that actually matter. The first thing that stands out is the 0.9 mm lead size. It’s thicker than the typical 0.5 mm, and that makes a noticeable difference. The lead doesn’t snap nearly as often, especially if you tend to press a bit harder when writing (which I do). That alone saves a lot of frustration. It’s also better for longer writing sessions since you’re not constantly clicking for more lead or dealing with breakage. The grip is surprisingly comfortable. It has a soft rubber feel, and it doesn’t get slippery even after extended use. I’ve used these during long stretches of writing, and my hand doesn’t feel fatigued the way it sometimes does with cheaper pencils. I picked up this pack of BIC Velocity mechanical pencils for my high schooler, and they’ve been a great addition to his school supplies. I think these are the best mechanical pencils on the market - I am not sure how they could be improved. I buy these multiple times a year because they are great. The colors are super bright and fun and the lead lasts a long time - and I LOVE that they give you a cute container with extra lead! Will always buy again! Good value too!

This mechanical pencil set was exactly as advertised. We originally tried it for my son, but even with the 0.9 lead, it still broke a little easily since he presses very hard when writing. However, for typical use they work great. I ended up loving them for myself — they write smoothly and are a great value. Overall, a very good set.

These BIC® Velocity® Original Mechanical Pencils, 0.9 mm are the best lead pencils I've ever found. The 0.9 size does not break when you press down like 0.5 and 0.7 I keep them around everywhere so they are handy to use when needed.

I was given the opportunity by BIC to try out these pencils for free. This review is my honest opinion. I was not paid for it. These mechanical pencils are the best I've ever tried!!! At first glance you would think these are really pens. They have a great thick barrel and I love the grip for extra support and comfort. Gone are those mechanical pencils that I remember as kid. Remember the boring colored one piece plastic ones that were so skinny. Thankfully I was given 2 packages to try. Once my daughter and her friends saw them they stole them for the start of school. My daughter loves these pencils. She says they feel like a pen but if you make a mistake it's ok because it's really pencil. The girls also love the fun bright colors the pencils come in. They were fighting over colors!!! So these pencils definitely have the 15 year old girls attention. As for functionality these perform above what I expected. They write so smooth and 1 click of the pencil goes very far. If you are worried about breaking the lead it's not easy. I really had to apply a strong amount of pressure for the tip to finally break. The eraser works great. It doesn't leave any residue behind and I find it thoroughly eraser the lead. As for grip these pencils are very comfortable to hold. They are definitely thicker than the old mechanical pencils from when I was a kid. They have a comfort grip at the bottom that is nice and soft. The only thing I didn't do was refill the pencil. I love that they give you extra lead but I didn't need to add any so I can't tell you if that is easy to do or not. They really are wonderful and I will be purchasing them in the future!!

This isn't just your run of the mill mechanical pencil. This is the top of the line, if there were such a thing, in 'clicky' pencils. At first glance, there isn't anything special - 5 colorful pencils, one extra barrel of .7mm lead, and a barrel of 5 eraser refills. Then, you open it. The first thing you notice is the grip. It's so soft, yet very supportive. The erasers also have a clear cap, which, for the kids, is kind of tough to get off. It also doesn't prevent the lead from being 'clicked' when it's on (the cap takes it dwn a star.) I write quite a bit, and so does my (left handed) 11 year old daughter. She and I both gave these pencils a test. The lead is smooth, so much more than I've ever used before. I'm not sure if it's the eraser or the lead, but when I made a mistake, there was no proof of it, unlike some other brands! According to my daughter, "the pencil is very easy to write with and when you erase things, the eraser erases all of it very well. I would like to use these. They are very squishy and comfortable to write with." After she had a turn, my 9 year old daughter gave them a try and said "can I keep this??" Haha. I think we have a winner. Great mechanical pencils. They work well.

Nos costaron 188 y valen cada peso. Tomo nota de mis estudios con lapiz porque es mas sencillo poder borrar y rehacer anotaciones, y usar estos mecanicos me han hecho la vida mas feliz. Son ultra comodos de usar, incluso por horas. Lo unico malo es la gomita, prefiero usar una goma aparte porque no es muy buena la que traen. La medida 0.9 mm se ma hecho la perfecta para tomar apuntes tambien, pero no se que tan buena sea para dibujo, al menos para estar escribiendo por horas ha sido genial y sin problemas. Los recomiendo al 100 por el precio. Aparte tambien traen minas extras y gomas extras (en caso de que les sirvan las gomas), y cada lapiz ya trae 2 o 3 minas incluidas.

I am a person who was a strong believer in a number two wooden pencil. The mechanical pencils I tried were always cheap, would break in a single day and would leave my writers bump enflamed. These are THE BEST MECHANICAL PENCILS. The .5 and .7 lead were not Hardy enough for me as I push hard when I write so the .9 is great and mimicked the same sturdiness as a wooden pencil. I love the extra erasers they include but still carry along a white eraser as I think the eraser could not withstand my aggressive erasing. Overall, get them, they are really luxurious pencils.
