CCNA Security 210-260 Official Cert Guide

Good book great to learn by

Good layout for instructions. We will see if it matters to what material is being provided vs the actual test. Heard a few people complain that its not up to date but a good resource.

I'm currently studying for my CCNA security certification and I have not found this book helpful at all. Some of the material is copied directly from existing Cisco configuration documentation that you can find for free online. In particular in chapter nine the section on DHCP snooping is copied verbatim from the cisco document that is the first result if you google DHCP snooping. What original content there is is poorly written and badly organized. My advice for someone considering buying this for the purpose of studying the exam is to find the exam topics posted online, google search the associated technologies, and download the free configuration PDFs Cisco has posted. You'll get the same, if not better, information that way and you won't have to spend anything to get it.

It gave the chance to understand what I would later see in the actual implementation of the different technologies in the lab practices. Therefore it did help me getting the knowledge needed for the test.

The book is great, and the author has a very good knowledge and experience. However, most of the materials are the same from the previous version. There are some new topics, and the organization of the book is much better than the older one. I'd say this book may contain 15-20 percent new materials, the rest is almost identical to the old one.

Pretty well written, haven't tested yet but I believe it covers all the new 210-260 topics properly. The PDF version of the book does have some extra spacing (you only see it if you copy paste things) in words at times.

I just took the test and this book does not nearly cover what they are testing on. I've taken 12 cert exams and this one has by far the least correlation between the Official cert guide and the actual exam topics. Roughly 25-50% of the real exam questions were on things either not covered in this book, scarcely mentioned, or from entirely different Cisco exams(CCNA or older CCNA material, again not mentioned in the CCNA Security books). For example to name a few topics I remember, questions on EAP, Private VLANs, OSPF(not related to security), SourceFIRE, and details of Mobile Device Management that were not covered in the book.. I studied very hard based on the material in this book, as I usually do for exams, and scored greatly on the included practice exams, but again, they were SIGNIFICANTLY different from what a large number of real exam questions were about. Basically, good luck, this book isn't enough. I would suggest this book as a starting point, but master every fine detail, and anywhere they scarcely mention a technology, even a single sentence, you'll want to read a configuration guide on that. As for how the book is written, it has a lot of "fluff" in it, basically worthless statements/sentences that do absolutely nothing for your learning, which makes for a lot of wasted time reading or wasted paper to print the book. Junipers FREE study guides are significantly better than this garbage, they're to the point, and they actually correlate to what the exam tests on. Cisco's exams seem to be going downhill and fading away from they're purpose, to prepare us for working in the real world, with technologies that real companies use. This book honestly covers some technologies that I work with in real life and helped me learn and improve in my job a bit. But as for a guide to prepare you for the Cisco La-La-Land exam, it's not enough.

Perfect guide too help get you certified in one of the leading Network companies in the world.... Cisco Systems is basically the industry standard, why not have an industry leading certification....

I may have to wait and after reading it completely ; then write review. Nevertheless i am hardly finishing 7 pages where i learned something, which may be the point of concern about security of personal data and how companies view it. I read in the page 6 of this book: "Countermeasure....Note that te thresholds apply to how we classify things. We do not spend more than the asset is worth to protect it because doing so makes no sense..." The worrying part is the value of our data as far as companies are concern?

Unlike CCNA R&S, this book does not provide all informations needed to pass the exam. This book provides basic informations about exam topcis, but for passing exam, you have to dig deeper
