No more counter surfing!
We originally attempted to just use regular double-sided tape to train our cat not to get on our counters; however, this didn't fully work and, on top of that, left a sticky residue on our surfaces. We bought this item and used all 30 yards of it already in order to cover everything needed. It holds well even after many accidents of us setting stuff on the tape when we shouldn't have, so far we've removed a lot of the pieces already, and it has left no residue. On top of that, it stuck well to surfaces that previous double-sided tapes wouldn't. Our cat definitely found it uncomfortable but was not hurt by getting stuck too much, so it's definitely safe for pets. It was super easy to place without getting the tape stuck on yourself due to the laminated cover on one side, overall great purchase!

great tape
this is a really great product, it is a bit tricky to peel the sheet off of the tape, and i wish it was less time consuming to peel it. the tape is very thin, i would prefer it to be thicker because i feel like the thinness makes it peel off the furniture easier, but its nice that its able to fit onto jagged corners. it deters my cats from scratching the chairs. the only issues i have is that it lifts overtime and is hard to peel off the tape sheet. i’d recommend it to another cat owner. it is functional and generally easy to use.

Game-changer & a life-saver
This tape was a game-changer & you could even say it’s a lifesaver. First, we’ve been having some issue trying to get our youngest kitty to understand what are “good” surfaces vs. “bad”. We have catification throughout our home & in all of the high-value places, (places we spend the most time), there are a number of beds, trees, and places that are cat-friendly. But, of course, there are a few interesting spots that aren’t cat-friendly, places with some collectibles and such. I’ve been trying to use calm, persuasion, & positive reinforcement in the training process, but there are so many times you can calmly remove kitty from standing over your 3-D puzzle of the Titanic or the Lego set of the Pyramids of Giza without frustration or pending disaster. I wanted to kick myself for not thinking of getting something like this tape sooner. When searching for cat deterrents, I was shocked and a bit upset that people actually would consider using spike mats instead of a little double-sided tape? Now, this receives 4 stars instead of 5 for only a few reasons. First, the paper backing is a bit difficult to get off, especially if you have fine-motor skill issues. If the company had made the backing thinner or split it, as you get on other adhesive-backed things like stickers and such, it would’ve been much more user friendly. Second, the description did say that the adhesive wouldn’t damage furniture. It’s pretty strong, so I’m hoping that’s true. I have one bookshelf that’s old and a bit “distressed”. I tested one spot, and the tape did remove some of the finish in one especially distressed corner. I made a decision to use the tape anyway. I could always refinish the shelf after I remove the tape. Kitty is more important to me than an old bookshelf. Third reason, there aren’t any suggestions on how it can be used. Especially if you have uneven surfaces, areas where you don’t want to take the risk that I did and wind up damaging a piece of valuable or sentimental furniture, or areas that you just don’t want covered with double-stick tape, like the top of the stove. I call this a game-changer because it took only 2 instances of the kitty in question coming in contact with the tape for him to realize that those surfaces weren’t kitty friendly. He hasn’t tried climbing on them since. I call this tape a life-saver because I know how frustrating it can be to have a cat who “insists” on going in areas they shouldn’t. So many cats who wind up in abandoned or in shelters find themselves in that situation because they were climbers. Please, use something like this tape & steer clear of those nightmarish spike mats. If you want to have a deterrent that’s removable, or don’t want to risk the finish of a particular piece of furniture— cover a piece of cardboard with the double-stick tape and use that. I made some of these DIY kitty deterrent mats and have them littered around areas that I don’t want kitty to go, but areas that I can’t have covered with double-stick tape, like the stove. It’s a temporary measure since he’s a quick-learner and it’s a training measure. Please keep in mind, you MUST have areas for a cat that are good, kitty-friendly places, areas that are comfortable, stimulating, and are close to where you spend your time. I’ve had the tape down for 24-hours and he’s stopped all “bad” climbing. I’m not going to remove the tape just yet, but I was floored at how quickly he learned.

This is the one to get
I used this the first time I needed to scratch-proof furniture and it worked fine. When it ran out I got a different one, but struggled to get the paper off, so I tried a 3rd brand the next time. It barely stuck to the furniture but was happy to stick to me if I was near, so I am now saying: This is the one to get. It adheres well even to textured fabric, is sticky enough to deter your cats but not you every time you're in the general area, and those are what you're after in anti-cat scratch tape. Tip: A YouTuber suggested that if you leave a bit of the backing tape hanging off when you cut the tape it's easy to start a new strip. Works great. Cat Tax: Miles denies ever considering scratching, even though I watched him try.

Does it's job well, but maybe damaging to furniture
PROS: Definitely does what it is supposed to...my cat does not like the feel of it on her little paws and has stopped scratching all the spots where I've applied it. Also, you get alot of it for the price which is great. And it is genuinely clear, of you smooth it on so it's not a giant eyesore. CONS: It seems like it definitely will damage more delicate materials if you leave it on for long periods of time because it's SUPER sticky. Stickier than normal tape. I've had it on for a couple weeks and it's already leaving a bit of sticky residue when I peel a bit off my soft leather chair. I did two things to try and reduce the damage to my furniture: 1. I laid each piece against some fabric a few times before I stuck it down to reduce the sticky-ness. 2. for those instances when I needed to cover a large patch of furniture. I actually left the backing on the middle part of the tape so it is only stuck to my furniture at the edges. Seems to be working well so far. I'd recommend pulling off a bit every couple weeks and checking to see how it's affecting your materials. I could see this damaging velvet, micro-suede (and real suede of course), and I am definitely not going to put it on my butcherblock countertops to keep kitty from jumping up.

THE BEST EVER!!
Oh my gosh what a game changer! Our cat drives me crazy by getting up on our concrete window ledge underneath our big picture window in our living room. He will scratch the screens to get my attention to let him in the house and has ruined a few screens doing that. When I found this product, I immediately bought it and put it along the ledge under the windows. It adhered nicely despite any kind of weather and you could not even tell it was on there, and best of all NO MORE CAT UP ON THE LEDGE! Now I can sit in peace knowing my cat will not get up on that ledge and ruin anymore screens! Also, it is easy to remove and replace when needed! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Think twice before buying once
I found this product difficult to use because I couldn’t separate the sticky side from the non-sticky side. Maybe I was doing something wrong? Additionally, it would only be good on surfaces where humans don’t sit such as the back of furniture. I put it on the front of my sofa cushions where my cat scratches only to discover that it stuck ME to the cushion! I am therefore needing to pull it off and buy something else. Think twice before you buy this with the above cautions in mind.
