Best for open cooking or high heat covered covered cooking. Low and slow? try something else...
Excellent charcoal, ready in no time at all and no spitting or smoke. It's definitely best suited to open cooking where the coals can be shuffled, but can be used for high heat lid on cooking. It does produce a lot of ash, so low and slow aren't really suited to this. The ash produced creates an insulative layer on the coal and without disturbance it effectively smothers the coal and it stops burning. This coal is ideal for adding to a cooling bbq without spoiling the food flavour. My go to coal!

Excellent charcoal
Excellent charcoal, proper charcoal just how it should be. It does burn slightly quicker but that’s because it’s true charcoal.

Lights easily. Burns steadily. Low smoke levels. Creates too much ash.
Used in a Weber MasterTouch and a Kettle Joe. It lights easily - I use one or two of the Ecoblaze Natural Firelighters to get it going. It burns steadily - not the slowest not the fastest. It doesn't create much smoke (if your bbq is clean) It creates a more ash than any other charcoal I have used which is a pain in a kettle if you've got food you need to turn quite frequently. Lumps are of a good size, although I haven't got to the bottom of the sack yet; who knows what's waiting for me down there... Made in Latvia - when I bought this I go the impression it was made in the UK but looking back it doesn't say anything like this in the description so I think I got the impression from the packaging.

The best in town
Sod off with your briquetts! Lump wood all the way, some of the chunks in these bags are practically trees and burn wonderfully hot and more importantly clean. I have used these on the open BBQ as well as int he smoker! Great quality, my go to brand

Suboptimal burn time
Very mild smoke flavour, I think it works well for those that prefer less smoke. Burn time is not brilliant, it just doesn't last long enough so I'll be switching back to what I used before.

Product is very nice as bought last time, dry and solid, lights quick and burns well

Massive chunks!
I've tried Big K, my third bag was basically a load of pebbles, so I tried this product and I'm so glad that I did. The lumps are huge, perfect for my Kamado. I have also noticed that compared to Big K my clothes don't smell like hell fire after, yet the coal still gives great flavour, smoke and heat.. Will certainly be buying again, I hope the next bag is as good!

Absolute rubbish
This product is total garbage. I am an experienced barbecuer of many years using charcoal. I usually use hotel grade charcoal which I find to be very satisfactory, controllable and gives me a long cook time (easily two hours with enough left to stay warm by into the evening). NOT THIS STUFF THOUGH. This came in a very large, very light bag. I lit the barbecue and waited for the light film of ash on the coals as recommended. At this point the coals were still ferociously hot. So much so that the potato skewers I put on immediately burnt; I’m talking seconds here. However, by the time I’d taken them off and was prepared to have another go with something else all of the heat had gone. It had turned to ash. In all from first burning the potatoes to there being no more heat was about 15 minutes. Avoid.

Klare Kaufempfehlung!!!

Used 1/3 of a sack. Delivers what it promises, however with quite a high price.
