READ THIS IF YOU ARE STARTING TO RESEARCH JUICERS
UPDATE 3.15.2017 I should have updated this post sooner. I was able to send the Juicer back to Omega directly and they took care of replacing it ASAP. Excellent customer service, great and fast response time. The replacement blender has worked flawlessly since we received it back in October, so about 5 1/2 months now. Omega can't be beat for customer service and responsiveness, this should give anyone the confidence to buy their products. Had I read through the warranty I would have seen the company backs up their products for over ten years. I doubt I will still be using my juicer that long - hoping that technology moves better solutions forward by then! UPDATE 8.8.2016 Two months after purchase I have purchased hundreds of items from Amazon over the past couple of years and never wirte reviews. I was pretty happy with the initial performance of the Omega VERT slow juicer and so busted out a quick raving 5 star review. Now only two months later the juicer is broken and in a box, never to be used again, the seller only had a 30 day warranty. If you plan on using a juicer with any frequency, plan on buying another juicer and not from this seller. I had high hopes for this juicer only to be very, very disappointed in its acutal lack of performance. Save yourself the time and money and look for a horizontal auger type juicer, they last longer. *************************** Omega VERT Slow Juicer VSJ843QS, Square Version, Silver . We have a small beverage business and fresh press our organic fruits and roots. Over the past two years we have used the Omega J8006 and tried the Breville JE98XL Juice Fountain Plus. Our goal is to have as much pure juice and the least amount of pulp or residual byproduct in the juice, so we are willing to take more time to achieve this result. While the Breville is a great machine and probably good for someone juicing for personal health purposes, it had too much pulp and a lot of it was too wet. The Omega J8006 has been a staunch work horse, but after a year the parts started wearing out. Omega's customer service is top notch however and has been very helpful in getting us replacement screens at no additional cost to us. The OJ8006 finally broke down a few days ago so we are sending the base unit back to Omega as they have a 7 or 10 year warranty. In the mean time I did a Yuge, huge, HUGE amount of research looking for a replacement and came up with the Omega VERT Slow Juicer VSJ843QS. I will spare you the details, only because I don't have the time to elaborate since I spent all of it researching and actually have to get back to work, but I wanted to get a quick 5 star rating posted on this product. DISCLAIMER, I am writing this after the first use and will update later if my experience changes. This Slow Juicer is the bomb, It squeezes 4 cups of Pineapple juice out of one Pineapple, whereas we typically only get 3 cups. Try getting those results for Pineapple in any other juicer. We just sliced the pieces and dropped them in the chute, didn't even have to press down on the plunger. And there was hardly any foam whatsoever, a stark contrast to both of the other machines we have used. Then we put ginger into the plunger which you have to use to process ginger. It did get stuck a few times, but the reverse button offered a quick solution and we were able to churn out some ginger juice that was as pure as any I have seen. The pulp was so dry you could have used it for kindling. I realize that writing a review after juicing two items, a pineapple and ginger, is not a thorough review. But after you have juiced for two years in a small business environment you know what to look for and anticipate. This juicer is very quiet and the wide auger with low RMP does a great job of giving us the most juice and therefore bang for our buck. So make sure to include this juicer in your research and save yourself a whole lot of time. If you find something better, please let me know!

Buy it. Use it. Love it. Don't forget to Brag about it.
This thing is da' bomb! I previously had a centrifugal style juicer and just the slow process without whipping all the air into the juice made for a much richer tasting juice than my previous machine. This machine is so quiet too compared to the other one that I had. Pros: Cleaning it, setup, dis-assembly, juice quality, quiet, quality of construction. Cons: not really anything. The feeder tube is not a larger mouth style so you might spend another 30 seconds to 1 minute prepping to juice since you need to make sure that the pieces are smaller but what does eight cuts on an apple mean compared to four on my previous machine. I don't think I will cry about losing a minute each time I juice. The end product that comes out of the machine is just so rich and tasty it makes me want to scream. Very nice yield too. Make sure to watch several youtube videos on how to use the slower juicer machines. Things like some leafy greens or celery do need to be cut fairly small due to the cellulose and fiber strands but, again, that is not really adding to prep time unless you like the large mouthed units that you can dump and run the produce. The first juice I did was: beet root (1/2 lb), carrot (1lb), 2 red delicious apples, 1 orange, 2 ounces spinach threw all that into a blender with a banana and flax (a rip off of Jamba Juice's Orange Reviver). The total yield on this, after the banana and blended, was just over 1 quart for those that are curious. I had read that sometimes this style juicer can stop due to too much of a load so I did leave some of the carrots large on purpose to see what the size was that would stop the machine. Now I know that I needed a whopping one more cut on one fat piece of carrot and no more issues. If you currently juice and are curious about slow juicers, go for it. Well worth the money, don't forget 15 YEARS coverage on this bad boy. Or, if you have never juiced but are serious about starting, dive it. Don't waste time with the $129 spinners....like the one I threw away already. High speed spinning parts - anything gets off balance and you have a juicer that will vibrate and slide all over the counter top and that is LOUD when it happens. I'd have to take the old one apart, put it back together carefully and half the time it still felt like I was using a machine that was going to explode.

HUGE difference in juice quality and juice storage life vs. centrifugal juicers. Easier cleanup too!
I hesitated upgrading my faithful Breville centrifugal juicer to the Omega VSJ843QR. First was cost - this thing is probably 3+ times the cost of the Breville and, 3 years on, mine was still running fine. Second was performance - would this really squeeze more juice out or have some other benefit that could justify the price? Well, it's been almost three months and all I can say is WOW. I had no idea what I'd been missing. Bear with me as this review deserves a little length.. First thing's first: I lean toward green juices - kale, celery, cucumber, ginger, apple, lime. this juicer squeezes every one of those ingredients dry, especially the solft greens. I haven't actually measured the yield differential but judging by the consistency of the pulp that's ejected and the fact that I use less ingredient to fill the same cup, it's obvious I was getting much more out of the Omega than my centrifugal. Typically, I added cucumber to my juice, not really realizing that it was just adding extra liquid without a ton of nutrients. Since my first few runs with the Omega, I've left the cucumber out entirely now and still get the same yield from the remaining ingredients! This is actually good for me as I have been told by a holistic doctor that I have too much 'cold' in my body, and eliminating the cucumber is one thing that can help (cutting out ice cream is another solution but I don't think that's happening). Second major advantage to this juicer - the juice quality and storage life is several days vs. several hours with my centrifugal. This solved part of my problem with sticking to juicing as a lifestyle. Centrifugal juicers run at high rpm and tear the fruits and vegetables up with sharp, fast moving teeth. According to everyone who writes about this stuff, that action rips open the cell walls of the nutrients and hence accelerates oxidation. Point being, the nutritional value of your juice is degrading quickly so you are recommended to drink it within 20 minutes for max benefit, or store for up to 8 hours. This also needs to be done in an airtight, vacuum container if possible. After a half day or so, at least for me, the juice would taste pretty off, so I made a point to juice what I could drink and drink fast. Not convenient, but what's the point if you don't get the nutrition? This was a bit of a problem as these centrifugal juicers make a lot of noise - hence juicing early in the morning carried a high risk of waking up the missus. The Omega is, by contrast, super quiet. This was originally really helpful for the morning juice routine, until I realized I could skip the morning routine altogether! The juice I produce from this machine keeps totally fresh in a filled glass jar for at least 24 hours, and tastes perfect (even if it's lost some nutrition) up to 3 days later. This is a huge boon as I could never, say, make juice enough for an evening and store the rest for the entire next day. Being able to reach into the fridge and grab a bottle has made sticking to the habit WAY easier. By the way, this model is much easier to keep clean than the Breville as well. I've been juicing for 3+ years and, while I thank my Breville for its service well beyond its warranty, I think most serious juicers will want to step up to a machine like the VSJ843. Once you do, you'll probably wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

Good juicer but some issues.
Revising my review again, June 2024. After one of the nubs broke off on the main housing that holds the juicing part in place, I sent a photo to the Omega customer service team. I didn’t know what to expect, honestly I just wanted them to know the unit failed. Well, today I received a brand new replacement juicer! I’m thrilled. This machine has many good qualities but a few flaws. I’ve been using it every week for 6 years now. If you ever have a problem, take a photo of the issue, and a photo of the serial # and contact their customer support. Be patient, they did right by me and I appreciate it. Revising my previous review, 5 years on. I have reservations about this machine. The feed chute is narrow so there’s a lot of cutting. The juice screen clogs and fails to spin sometimes and the machine needs to be disassembled to clean it out. It will then spin for a minute and then stops. I contacted Omega for a replacement, which they sent, but a month later the new juice screen has trouble too. Also now one of the nubs that holds the juice housing in place has sheared off and the juicer is unusable. I've also had to replace the chute flap. The parts are plastic and do not hold up well to repeated use. I started juicing with a Juiceman 2 centrifugal juicer when a friend suggested that I upgrade to a slow juicer because I like to store my juice for a few days. After watching many comparison video reviews I decided on the Omega VSJ843 because of high yield, relatively easy cleaning and it works well with greens, veggies and fruits. I've used the machine about 30 times now and here are my thoughts. PROS -- Solid, well-built, looks nice. Good size (8" x 8"). (Less table space than Juiceman 2) -- Quiet!! You can talk to a friend or listen to a broadcast while juicing. -- Delicious juice that doesn't separate or change color (oxidize) for days. -- I've used for greens, apples, carrots, beets, celery, kale, fennel. Does OK. Some issues. -- Nice juice and pulp containers. -- Makes good sorbet, you need to remove the rubber plug in the pulp chute and close the juice chute. I used frozen strawberries, bananas and blueberries. But the next time I wanted sorbet I opted to put the ingredients in a bowl and mix it together, saving me from cleaning the machine again. So you'll probably want to make a good portion to make it worth cleaning the machine. -- Although it struggles with large carrots, carrots are your friend with this machine. Use them in between and at the end to push all the juice out. CONS -- I already knew the machine had trouble with large carrots and beets, so I wasn't surprised when the motor stopped and I had to use the reverse. I don't understand why Omega doesn't (for ~$400) use a more powerful motor. But you learn to use it. -- In the Juiceman 2 I could feed whole celery, fennel, kale & carrot into the machine with no issues. With this machine you'll need to cut them into 1-2" pieces so they don't clog the pulp chute. It's more work but a first world problem. Takes 2-3 minutes now to cut veggies. It can handle carrots up to about 1" in diameter, after that split them lengthwise and they feed easily. Or you could just use smaller carrots. -- There's a video showing this machine can be used for nut milks. For me, it didn't remove the pulp. I ended up just straining it all in a nut milk bag, and then had to clean the machine and the bag. Maybe I'll try again but first time was epic fail. -- Sometimes the juice housing lifts off the motor when the motor is straining. Reversing the motor will then help clear the blockage. It just seems the two parts should lock together tightly and stay put. There are many considerations when getting a juicer. This one handles a variety of juices. is small enough to keep on the counter, and easy to clean. The auger comes clean in 10 seconds, all the parts rinse easily. This machine could use a stronger motor and a tighter locking mechanism for the juice housing. So far I'm pleased overall, the next factor will be the test of time. I also recommend the Epica 18-Oz Glass Beverage Bottles, I ordered them at the same time and it's nice to have good juice bottles. Make sure you have a bottle brush too. Happy juicing.

Broke within a few months and customer service is abysmal
This is the fifth juicer I've owned in six years, and the first one I've ever had a problem with (I like to try/sell different products as an avid juicer). I bought this one last November, and it lasted a few months until it broke a few weeks ago. Meaning, it stopped processing the produce, which built up inside the reservoir and wasn't turned into juice. It started making something that looked more like pond scum with a lot of solid material as opposed to a drinkable product. The juice, if you can call it that, is filled with so many solid pieces of produce and pulp that it's absolutely undrinkable. I contacted customer service and they have been unresponsive for two weeks. When I call them, I am told I will have an answer in 24 - 48 hours, yet the stated deadlines come and go with no response. When I call them again for an update, I am told (3x now) that they need pictures and videos, yet I've already sent the requested materials. They finally sent the pictures and videos to someone they call a "product specialist", who then emailed to ask me AGAIN for the same pictures I already sent. Now, he apparently did receive some of my pictures (the rest seems to have disappeared into a black hole), and told me it appears I am "over juicing!" Unbelievable! He said this juicer can only handle 12 - 16 ounces before it needs a 15 minute rest. As an avid juicer, I can say that's patently absurd for a juicer in this price point. Not only that, but none of their marketing materials disclose this fact. However, I am, in fact, only juicing 16 ounces at a time before resting the juicer. This did not seem to matter as they are back to not replying to my emails, and clearly avoiding honoring the warranty at this time. I replied to the specialist indicating that I am only juicing 16 ounces at a time, yet he went dark on me. It's unclear at this point if they will ethically resolve this issue and honor their stated warranty or not. I recommend reviewing their Better Business Bureau page, which is filled with similar complaints. It appears other reviewers here have also experienced the same issues. I will never buy another product from Omega given the run around I've been getting. They don't stand behind their over-priced, poor quality products, and they make you feel as though you are insignificant and a bother.

Omega is A Number 1 Alpha
This vertical masticating slow juicer is soooo much better than the centrifugal juicer that I used for years. At the rate of 43 RPM (which is excellent for keeping juices from heating and oxidation), reviews said that it wouldn't be quite as fast as the one I was accustomed to using, but I found it to be as fast, or faster. I still need to cut fruits and veggies to fit through the chute, but they go through easily and quickly. On occasion a carrot or turnip will get stuck, but I put it in reverse with the flip of the switch, let the stuck piece come back out, then put it in forward again. I've found there's less foam and no need to strain the juice, also seems to yield a significant amount more juice. Cleanup is a breeze over my former juicer! First is its ability to eject the fiber out one side while keeping 16 oz. of juice in the container. This allows stirring of the juices from the various fruits and veggies added. When it reaches 16 oz. I release the juice contents into the large measured cup provided and continue on. Whereas before, I had to stop the machine, clean out the fiber-filled basket several times during the course of making my juice. Speaking of cleanup, the little brush tool is the greatest! I use it to help clean out all the pieces at wash time - one end is a tool to pick, poke, push and scrape, and the other is a cleaning brush. Assembly and dis-assembly was tricky the first couple of times I used it. When taking it apart to clean, remove (twist to left) the black lid while still on the machine, then remove the auger. The auger, being full of fruit and veggie fiber, will seem stuck inside the basket, but it's just the fiber "goo" that is holding it in. Grab it and lift it and once some air gets between the bottom of the auger, the "goo", and the basket, it will lift right out. I've also found assembling the whole thing, including the black lid, before securing on the machine, works best for me. I've used it daily for the last two weeks and it has exceeded my expectations in every way! This baby is stored on my countertop right next to my blender, it fits perfectly under the upper cabinets - ready to use when I am! It is weighty, so lifting it in and out of a cabinet each day, to me, would be a burden, so I display it proudly and use it easily! Price and reviews were primary factors in my decision to purchase this brand and model. Now I can contribute my name to the list of happy Omega owners. Highly recommend!

The BEST vertical auger juicer on the market...but with caveats.
This is probably the most well thought out vertical auger juicer on the market at this time. However, as with any product, there are caveats. I initially bought an Optimum 700 juicer for the wide mouth feature but returned it because it made extremely pulpy juice and was very difficult and time consuming to clean. Also the wide mouth is more of a gimmick than an advantage, It sure made feeding in whole apples a snap, but produce such as celery and leafy greens still have to be cut into small 1/2" pieces to avoid clogging the pulp ejection port. I then bought this juicer, the OMEGA VSJ843. It is a handsome, and very thoughtfully designed machine. It fits comfortably under my cabinets and in comparison to the Optimum 700, is a breeze to clean. Omega (or rather Hurom, the OEM) has eliminated as many of the the nooks and crannies and cogs and gear teeth that are found on other juicers and this makes for extremely easy and quick cleaning. Not only that, but there is literally nowhere in any of the parts that come in contact with the food, that bits of produce can lodge in or under, and serve as potential breeding spots for bacteria or other nasties. It does a really good job with leafy greens and hard veggies. It also does fairly well with soft fruits as long as one juices them with hard vegetables such as carrots at the same time. I believe it has better yields than most other vertical auger juicers as well. However, the one weakness of this juicer is that it does not do so well with soft fruits by themselves. The fibrous pulp that is ejected is quite wet especially when soft fruits are juiced, which means that there is still juice being left in the pulp. Running the pulp through the juicer doesn't extract any more juice either. Thus, in my opinion if the primary use of this machine is going to be solely juicing soft fruits such as apples, citrus, berries etc., this will probably not be your best bet. With a mix of fruits and leafy greens and hard veggies such as carrots, however, this will be about the best, easiest to use, and easiest to clean vertical auger slow juicer out there at least for the moment. The other caveat, though I do not consider it to be a deal breaker by any means, is that this juicer works best with produce that has been cut into small pieces. One of the selling points of wide mouth juicers is that you supposedly do not have to cut up produce as much, and thus save time when juicing. At least with the Optimum 700, this is definitely not true, and any time saved in not having to cut up the produce like apples and oranges, is lost (and then some), in the length of time it takes to clean the machine. I've gotten to the point where cutting up enough produce to make 64 ounces of juice takes me less than 2-3 minutes. The VSJ843 will thank you for cutting up the produce by giving you juice that has very, very little pulpiness, and with very little foam as well. I'd urge everyone to check out the juicer review videos on youtube by John Kohler. He is the reason I bought this juicer.

Works well, juice is incredible
1st impressions: 7/22/24 I had some minor skepticism in getting this juicer. So many reviews about hard to clean, assemble, gets clogged, etc etc I've been juicing for about 8 years with a Champion Juicer, which has been amazing however it's a masticating juicer and the juice does oxidate quite quickly. No storing overnight, ever I was curious and keen on doing cold press juice for it's additional health benefits Assembly: pretty straight forward. It's a few pieces. If you're having trouble putting it together, taking it apart - you are probably the actor in B&W reels for infomercials Cleaning: the lower screen (bottom of the cone) is super fine, requires scrubbing. not more than 90 seconds, but it's more than rinsing with water Using: the horizontal chute is different from straight shoot I'm used to with my Champion Juicer. I think the biggest annoyance would be that i have to cut carrots vertically to fit in it. My other one I could shoot carrot after carrot w/o making any cuts. However - beets are easier because I can cut them into coins rather than rectangles The Juice: taste is great, will attempt storage to see about oxidation. my gut and research tell me - it'll be great I think this is probably going to be a great all around machine - I think people don't understand the level of mechanics that goes into making an all around machine. Different designs are better for greens, for root vegetables, for soft fruits, etc. To have one machine that can do all of those well - is pretty impressive Will update later if I remember

Excellent juicer
After using a centrifugal juicer for the past 10 years, I decided it was time for an upgrade. After much research online I decided on the Omega VSJ843 juicer. It turned out to be an excellent choice. I get at least 20% more juice than I was getting using my old Jack Lalanne Power Juicer. So you save on produce, especially if you are using organic. The pulp comes out dry for all hard fruits, vegetables and herbs. Pulp from cucumbers will not be as dry because of the softness and high water content. The best part...NO PULP in the juice, so no straining required. Cleaning and assembling the juicer is easy and fast. Good for juicing spinach and other greens. The auger pulls in the vegetables on its own and you hardly ever need to use the plunger. The juicer is pricey, but if you are a person like me. juicing every single day of the year, it is most definitely a worthwhile investment. My only regret....I should have bought it earlier. UPDATE The juicer stopped working after just 4 months of use. I called customer service and was told that it was probably the motor. They asked me to ship the motor and not the accessories, to their repair center in Florida. Cost me $60 to ship it through Canada Post. They sent it back after 2 weeks with a note saying, " UNIT TURNED ON- CUSTOMER DID NOT SHIP ACCESSORIES TO VERIFY IF A PART MIGHT BE DEFECTIVE- REPLACED UNIT." They sent the motor back with new accessories which was AMAZING!! In order to find out which of old parts was not working I assembled the juicer by putting in one part from the old accessories with the new to see if it worked. Anyhow, I found out that it was the hopper or the lid with shoot that was not working. Although it clicked in place just right, the juicer did not turn on. I was extremely disappointed in the fact that this product broke down in such a short amount of time.

Excellent Product
I have been an Omega juicer owner and user for almost 30 years. In the 90's I was researching the value of juicing and I conducted a thorough research on juicers. As a result I purchased an Omega centrifugal juicer. This lasted for almost 25 years (with regular juicing) and I only discarded it as the rubber feet were becoming worn (after 2 decades of use) and there was some vibration. I then went to a much cheaper pulp ejecting juicer by another brand. Money wasted ... as there was more juice in the ejected pulp than what was in the cup. Discarded this product. Again I conducted a detailed research (on various brands, types and models) and the Omega VSJ843QS came out on top for my purposes and the cost I felt justified in spending on a juicer. I have had this juicer for approx. 4 weeks and I am very, very, very happy with the quality of the product and the quality of the juice (no identifiable pulp settling at the bottom of the cup). Also, cleanup is a breeze. The overall performance and juice quality far exceed my original expectation. I am amazed at the engineering which went into this juicer. This purchase is an investment in my family's health and so I investigated how best to use it. I found a video on YT by the owner of an established juicing and juicing equipment retail company. In the video, he identified this juicer as his preferred product and clearly outlined a number of reason why. In another video he demonstrated how best to prepare the fruits and vegetables to perform juicing successfully, avoid some of the concerns expressed in some of the reviews and how to dissemble, clean and reassemble the juicer. I strongly recommend this juicer and suggest potential and/or purchasers go to YD for information on how best to use and take care of their investment. Note: This is a totally transparent review with no conflict of interest.
