I love this sleeve. I have found nothing else like it anywhere and I searched everywhere! Our dog had surgery 3 weeks ago and his wound is on his upper thigh. Not one bandage stayed up, not even the vet's. I ordered the sleeve and waited for Amazon to have it back in stock and now ordering my second so I can wash one. We were changing the bandages every day up to four times a day. His staples came out due to too much energy. He's 14, but would not just lie down. Finally after the second surgery, the staples came out again and we decided to do wound care. I am telling you, there is not once that the bandages stayed up until we got this sleeve. I did add an ace bandage around his waist to make sure the ties are attached, but I now know that is not necessary. The string is plenty long enough to reach is collar. I did get a harness, but it's not necessary, yet. The other two ties go around his middle section. I bought a medium and it fits him well. He a 40 pound dog. I am in caretaker heaven right now! I highly recommend this product!

I bought this for my dog (~40lbs beagle mix) to wear after TPLO surgery instead of the cone. I had looked everywhere for something to cover up the stitches and I narrowed it down to this and one of the full-body suits. I ended up going with this because I figured getting the full suit on would be very difficult. What I wish I had known (or I guess thought about ahead of time) was that when I would bring my dog home from the hospital, her leg would be VERY swollen so while we tried this on ahead of time and it fit perfectly, I couldn't get it on her leg until a few days after surgery. Not the end of the world since for the first two days all she did was sleep but after that it would have been perfect except for the fact that it WOULD NOT STAY ON. Even when it was tied correctly and attached to her collar (or her harness), the second she'd start walking or rolling around in her bed it came down. Bottomline, I love the concept but this just didn't work for us. It would be perfect if it went over both rear legs and tied to her collar but this design just did not work for us and I so wish it had.

This works well for covering a total hip replacement surgical site. However, the strings aren't at all elastic, and that's required to move with the dog. I cut them off, and sewed on suspenders to the outside of the sleeve (to reduce friction on the wound). I then clipped the suspenders onto a soft headband around the neck. Elastic is almost required for this, so surprised they aren't. Otherwise it's the right shape for a dog leg.

Used this instead of a cone after TPLO surgery on my 62 lb boxer/bulldog mix. It was effective at preventing her from licking/scratching. I liked that it is breathable to allow healing. This was the exact same sleeve that the surgeon sent her home with. Yes, is is rather difficult to figure out how to put on, but once I did it a couple of times, it was not difficult. It did slip off easily until I made an extra loop to thread the string through. That seemed to help prevent slipping. I purchased this one to alternate while I washed (by hand) the other one. Overall, this was much better for my girl instead of a cone for 2 weeks. I even kept it on for a few days after staples were removed as it seemed to make her more careful of that leg. We are still in the healing process and are going for follow up x rays next week. This product helped quite a bit if it fits properly - be sure to measure.

Large Dog, Shiloh Shephard. 29 inches at the shoulder 125 lbs. Very powerful breed. He will brace the plastic hoods against a wall, cage, or furniture and try to tear them off. Thin ones tear, the heavy plastic ones move or damage what they are propped against. 6 months total off and on use over discovery and surgery to remove an infected TPLO plate. The XX large is long for him, the bottom of the sock is easy to roll up a bit. I spray bitters on the cloth before putting it on. I just bought a second one as a spare for changing. One of the tie strings did come off, had to sew it back on. For the price and getting something big enough to fit the dog - it isn't a big deal. I attach the string that goes around the neck to the dog collar. If a dog just had TPLO surgery and you have a carrying/support harness, you could probably hang the "sock" from the harness to cut down how often the dog needs to wear the cone. . You do need to keep an eye on it, but its less hassle than a cone.

Works in a pinch but not ideal. I got a blowup pillow cone for around the neck which works great. I bought this leg sleeve as a deterrent for my other dogs licking the wound. It’s better than nothing but it only stays up and in place as long as the dog doesn’t get up or lay down. Then I have to adjust and re-cover the affected area. With some design modifications it might work better but now I’m just wishing I’d been able to find a set of simple dog pjs to do the trick. At least it wasn’t crazy expensive and as I said, better than nothing.

This is a product we desperately wanted for our dog Koda as he recovers from surgery for a luxating patella. He doesn't do well with cones or the new pillow rings. However, unfortunately the sleeve is not useable as it's currently shipping out. The description online and the instructions card you receive with the sleeve say there is a long string that splits in two to wrap around the neck of the dog, to prevent the sleeve from just sliding down the back of the leg. You can see from my photo that there is no long string that splits in two - just a very short 2nd string that does not split, and that couldn't even reach to the middle of my dogs back. Looking at photos from recent orders of this product, you can see people have attached their own cables, extension ropes, etc to secure it around the neck, and only older photos of the product show a longer splitting string included. I wasn't super interested in trying to jury-rig this, so I sent it back. Just be aware that you will probably not be able to use this out of the box unless the manufacturer fixed the product defect since I received my order.

This product has been the ONE AND ONLY viable solution for our dogs problem -- he had mast cell tumors with one "angry" one on his only remaining rear leg and it bugged him so he chewed at it -- relentlessly. We purchased literally every "cone" / e-collar we could find (though we did not get to the kind that I believe inflates to form a round, high collar that does not block the eyes and face but does prevent the dog from getting his / her mouth to locations of interest on the body - we would have tried this next because it looked good) and there were flaws with every other type of collar for our dog. I looked at every other sleeve type option for dogs with only one rear leg and they all looked as though they would not stay up in place, etc. THIS SLEEVE HAS TWO FEATURES THAT MAKE IT EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD! The velcro around the ankle or below knee keeps it in place from that end, and the two different adjustable ties -- PARTICULARLY THE ONE THAT GOES TO THE DOG'S COLLAR make the sleeve stay on whether our dog was supervised or not. We were able to adjust the tie that goes around the abdomen very gingerly because he had tumors in there as well, and we adjusted the strap to the neck such that it did not pull on his collar / neck. Both the straps / ties are very stretchy so that once you've done your best to pick the right tightness and positioning, it still offers some latitude that it would not if it were non-stretchy. THIS SLEEVE WAS THE ONLY THING THAT WORKED FOR MY BOY AND I RECOMMEND IT HEARTILY. It was a relief to find SOMETHING that worked for our guy while he was alive. The cost is excellent as well.
