Easy Assembly. Worked on first attempt!
Packaging is a little skimpy on protection but the product arrived absolutely fine. The box was a little mangled at the bottom but the Styrofoam protected the unit. Assembly was stupid easy. Anyone in your family 10 y/o or above can put it together. The hardest part was using a wrench to attach the regulator to the unit. They could have included a very small fixed hex nut metal wrench with little added cost. So, make sure you have a wrench. Once you attach the regulator hose to the unit, do the soap test. Attach the other end of the regulator hose to a 20lb propane tank and turn it on. Make sure you have ventilation. I did mine under a range exhaust hood turned on. Take some liquid hand soap about 3 pumps and about 1/8 cup water mix together and coat where you attached the regulator see if you see any bubbles bubbling up from any point around the nut. If you do, tighten the nut more till it stops. Starting the unit didn't go as planned in the directions. I pushed the ignitor knob in and watched the sparks fly in side by the propane jet but got no light off. Held it for 20 seconds. Kept holding it and finally I gave up. I let it air out a little then the next time instead of going to on, I held the knob in and when to all the way to high. That let a better flow of gas in that ignited. I kept holding the knob in until flame would stay lit when released. It might be hard to start because the hose has air in it for the first light off. Who knows, but turning it to high got it started so no big deal. Once the ceramic started heating up, I gave it about 5 minutes and took out my Infrared Temperature Measuring Gun and....it broke it. lol. It was way over the maximum temp for the Gun. All the display would say is HI. I looked to see what the maximum temp the gun would register and it list 600c or 1112F. Not really definitive for testing but at least I know it get ABOVE that. And that will be the hottest tempreature I've ever grilled at when I cook our steaks later tonight. I live in a Condo so we have a rule that we aren't allowed any open flame indoors. Well technically the box says Infrared heat. So if it comes up, I will just point at that and hope no one is very smart on the condo board. But...a big but here, the unit is a top grilling device so, flare ups and smoke should be much less than the propane grill I was using before with a burner underneath and all the juices catching fire and smoking as they dropped. Edit... After a month of very intense use. I've probably used this 3 to 4 times a week for a month and it's just been amazing. I started with Prime Meats. They turned out amazing. Nice seared crust, easy to keep inside of steak any temperature you desire. The intensity adjustment is great, and coupled with the rack positioning lever you can keep a steak warm at the very bottom of the grill. I also tried Burgers, very nice and best burgers I've made on a grill. I tried Choice steaks and they came out amazing as well. Obviously not as delicious as the Prime but for the amount of savings, this grill makes Choice steaks taste like prime on a regular grill. You might want to purchase this..."Fox Trot Bar Keepers Friend Cookware Cleaner" it cleans the heat stains from the intense cooking very easily. Keeps the silver pans, grill grate and front of oven shiny silver just like new. You will like this grill so much you will want to keep it looking nice.

Best ccoking platform for the price!
Received the Camplux 5 days ago. Well made and contrary to other postings the electric arc starter worked fine, it's just a matter of keeping gas flow know on high till fully lit and putting the battery in correctly. The rack needs to be placed correctly and the larger pan on the bottom. I have so far cooked rib eye, lamb chops, salmon and chicken thighs with fat on. All came out perfect. Just adjust the rack correctly. I lined the bottom tray with aluminum foil so clean up including the rack took one minute. I keep the Camplux in the outside screened porch area and wanted to protect the grill form the Florida weather so I bought a SHINESTAR CG306 Grill Cover for Pit Boss 75275 Stainless Steel Two-Burner Portable Grill, 24 Inch Grill Cover for Cuisinart CGG-306 Tabletop Gas Grill which fits perfectly. Having experience with many grill type cooking platforms, I can highly recommend the Camplex. The quality of the final foods are unmatched. The price is the best for infrared cooking. You will be pleased!!!

Started great - diminished to unusable within months.
It started great. Grill arrived, assembled within minutes, even though the instructions are somewhat reminiscent of a Swedish furniture house, full tank connected, and then the first battle - getting a feel for the incredibly fickle pilot light/lighting mechanism. Below are my thoughts after months of use and the last 30 days of dysfunctions and non-use. Starting with the bottom line: Great idea, but with a unit that does not stay lit, the Camplux becomes an inoperable piece of "yard art". If the return period had not elapsed, I would return the unit and wait for a sale on a higher-end competitor without ignition and pilot light issues, for without flame, there's no steak. And that, my friends, defeats the whole purpose of having this singular-purpose grill in the first place. Hence, my rating is 1-star. The idea and the cost proposition, and in case the unit does work, would have deserved a 5-star rating. Not being able to use it...and we're at 1-star, and even that's generous for something that' is now useless. Pros: Well-built and portable. Comes with a set of connectors for a 20lbs, home-style propane canister or a smaller unit for travel. The adjustable rack is great, allowing you to move food closer/farther from the heat, achieving the right temperature at variable thickness of cut. Smart move there! All removable parts are easy to take out from the unit and cleaning is a breeze. Also, well done Cons: The adjustable deck is a bit flimsy and not level, due to the manufacturer's assembly of the guide rails, which are uneven/not parallel. The unit, if operational, develops more heat in the back of the cavity. This makes sense, as the opening lets heat escape quicker than the rear of the unit. Still, an increased "front lip" on the adjustable tray would likely improve heat retention. Onward to the main issue: It took only the first two uses to recognize that the lighting mechanism is absolute garbage. The igniter takes upward of 30 seconds of continues "clicking" to light the pilot flame. From there, it takes luck to keep the pilot flame lit - even with a full tank and plenty of pressure. Once it stays lit, the Camplux operates just fine. I resorted to using an external lighter, bypassing the igniter, which has worked with varying degrees of success of keeping the pilot light lit. However, even that luck changed in the past 2 months - the pilot light will now not stay lit at all, which renders the unit inoperable and useless. I've connected fully filled propane tanks, pressure tested with our regular grill - to no avail. The Camplux simply does not work. Of course, such things commonly develop after the return period has expired... ### Noteworthy: After some tinkering, and getting to know the unit, the outcome of any steak is fantastic. The caveat; the fattier the steak, the better the results concerning crusting. A rib eye will come out superior to a leaner cut. The ambient temperature matters. In Minnesota winters, every grill has a hard time to come up to temperature. The Camplux has a little less of a hard time, yet the cooking time increases - which is to expect.

I love this little infrared grill!
After a disappointing experience with the Solaris Anywhere infrared grill (see my review), I was searching for an adequate replacement and found this little beauty. It’s more of a “broiler” than a grill, but It does not disappoint. Pros: Good looking. Very portable. Fits in a Home Depot or Costco 27 gallon tote (the black one with yellow lid) if you remove the tray adjustment handle, which makes it ideal for camping or RVing. Heats up to >1600 degrees in just a few minutes. Cleans up in a snap, and you’ll want to keep it clean for maximum efficiency and safety. Cooks meats, fish, and vegetables very quickly, in fact, until you’re accustomed to this unit, don’t leave your foods unattended as it will burn your fare quickly if you’re not careful. The infrared produces a pro-grade Maillard effect on meats, which is steakhouse worthy and just what I expected and love about infrared cooking. The adjustable tray is also a bonus to fine tune the heat to what you’re cooking and it’s very efficient on propane. The size is perfect for a family of two. Cons: It’s a bit flimsy on construction for the price and as another reviewer suggested, use barkeepers friend to keep the front stainless panel looking good. Also, the grill doesn’t produce any smoke to speak of, which tends to leave veggies a bit bland if you’re accustomed to traditional bottom-up grilling as I am. Finally, And the reason I gave it only 4 stars is that after three weeks and a dozen cooks, the spark igniter got stuck in the ‘on’ position and would not stop clicking, I had to remove the battery after lighting to keep it from draining. I spoke with Camplux customer service and they advised that I return it and purchase a new one, which I have. It’s just kinda wasteful, but I didn’t want to disassemble it and really mess things up. Let’s see how long this one lasts. Summary: I’m happy with this unit and feel that it will give me a few years of good performance. Worth it!

Doesn’t last more than a few months
Got mine the end of September and enjoyed using it until recently. Now it lights and runs for maybe a minute and then burns out. Tried a new propane tank thinking maybe it was a problem. Didn’t matter. Out of my 30 day warranty period so nothing I can do. It must not be built to last.

Extremely Happy With Camplux Customer Service & Grill
I do most of my grilling now on the Camplux . This product is a broiler! It gets very hot and does cook chicken breasts and chicken legs in about 15 minutes on middle level tray setting. Have broiled steaks with thick steaks able to achieve a crust and rare at the same time. Thin steaks not as successful. Grills past rare if you want to get a crust. Keep in mind, though the heating element is large, the food must be covered by the ceramic burner to cook evenly! If not, you will get food that is not cooked evenly. Product is small but easy to use! Can broil 3 fillet steaks at one time with good results. 3 burgers as well! Perfect for 2 people. Understand, you do not need to bring the grill enclosure up to temperature. The ceramic element does the cooking. Ready to cook in minutes. I would recommend! 8/4/21 I called Customer Service with a problem. They were incredable! The problem was taken care of promptly . We use the grill every day Love this product. Highly recommend. 5 stars!

Accessories to make oven even better
I received the oven on Friday. I took it put and was very impressed with finishes. However one of the drip traps was slightly twisted so it would not sit flat. A call to Amazon generated a couple unit sent to me switch the faulty tray out. The rack has four ears on the sliding drawer frame, one on each corner. The back two were splayed out just enough that the grill rack would not seat. A little muscle fixed that . I wanted to immediately try it out. Because I did not have a 20lb tank, I wanted to use a 1 lb bottle. The adapter is not included. So I had to buy one for 13 dollars. So because they cheaped out and did not include a 4 dollar ( manufacturer's cost) part my out of box experience was dead in the water. So when you order yours be sure and order the adapter if want to use the small bottles. There is no large removable tray in the bottom to catch anything missed by drip tray. So I purchased a NORPRO Norpro S/S Cookie Baking Sheet 14` X 12`, 1 EA The bottom of the sear is 12.5 inch wide and 12 deep. So tray slides right in with 2 inches hanging out in the front to catch any drips when transferring food out to a plate. It is polished and looks like it is part of the oven. .I also purchased a pair of the nicess grill gloves I have ever seen. They have fingers and go up to 1450 degrees. WEEDABEST Hot BBQ Gloves Heat Resistant Kitchen Oven Mitts Professional Long Heat Resistant Cooking Gloves for Grill,Grilling,Smoker,Barbeque,13.5 inch-Gray It is raining here in Seattle so I tried it indoors. There is no difference than a normal gas broiler in your stove. Since the element is on the top there is no grease dripping on the element and causing smoke. I also went to Costco and bought a stainless steel cart Seville Classics Stainless Steel Kitchen Cart 30 inch x 20 inch top and 36 off floor. There is room underneath for the propane tank. Add a instant reading thermometer and an infrared laser gun that goes up to 1500 finishes the grill. Then I added two cast iron serving plates with wood bases to keep that special steak ready to go to the table. Remember that normal oven liners fry above 550 and aluminum tops out at about 1000 so the bottom liner must be stainless. For those who have trouble getting the pilot to stay on, remember that there is a valve controlled by a passive thermocouple that must reach a certain temp so hold down the igniter for 30 seconds. Also remember there is air in the propane hose that must be purged by holding the igniter until gas actually flows and the pilot ignites. My next purchase will be a pizza steel plate as the bottom of the pizza does not become crunchy until the top is way overcooked. Bear in mind that a normal stone can notcwithstand these temps. I could not find one on amazon that was smalenough so i .am ordering one from easy 12" x 1/2" thick. It may be too heavy so I might go with 1/4 but it will not crisp as well. Price seams to be around 60 dollars and ships free. All that will be left are ss Tongs, flat Spatulas and a perfersted basket for small things so they don't fall through. Hope this helps

So worth the money.
Okay so youve probably seen these high heat grills around but have been skeptical. So was I. In the end I chose the camplux for two reasons 1. its 1600 degrees max temp, thats 100 degrees more fun than all the other grills which stop at 1500. 2. camplux is an established brand with other items. Most of the other infared high heat grills that's all they do and theyre new companies. You cant be sure the quality is there because they just don't have the experience of an established brand. set up: stick a single double a battery on the bottom, screw on the handle, set up the regulator and propane tank and you are ready to go. ----my regulator didnt work. I had to steal the one off my gas grill. Several other reviews mention this, its probably safe to assume you need a new regulator for the grill. but thats an easy thing to get if you dont have a gas grill around you can borrow from like I did. use: so for a steak, you let it heat up hit it 60 seconds on each side then remove it and sit it on top for 3-5 minutes this lets it warm in the center and sends proteins to the surface of the meat, which can be caramelized into a crust. Once its sat you stick it back in until its seared to your liking ( i did a minute 30). The drawer for the meat tray goes in and out at any level, so super easy to load your meat safely. results: I got good crusts the very first try, the steak was super tender and had great flavor. The pan sauce was an amazing addition. the video will walk you through making that using the grill. video attached covers all aspect of grill use, set up, use, process, and pan sauce making. all aspects of that video are directly related to the product or its results. The photos show steaks cooked by the product and are relevant to the review as a result.
