Review: Definitely worth a try - First of all, let me say that I don't actually believe in the whole "detox" thing. I don't have any facts, it just sounds like pseudoscience to me, especially when the author starts recommending those Chinese foot pads you can buy off the TV. I bought this book and tried this 10-day diet after several family members started it and would not shut up about how great it was, and how amazing they felt. There's a family wedding this month, so I figured, why not? It's better than the diet I'm not on, plus we just bought a nice blender and I want to play with it. My main goals are: 1. Weight loss, and 2. Breaking the cycle of eating unhealthy food. I have type 2 diabetes, poster child for metabolic syndrome. I don't eat well, plus I have been trying unsuccessfully to break my addiction to diet soda, after reading so much about how it affects your body, even if they don't know why yet. This book claims that following this diet for 10 days will stop your cravings for unhealthy foods. We'll see. Day 1, delicious smoothies, could drink this stuff all day, which is good because that's kind of the point. The one blip was, I took my regular dose of meal-time insulin with my morning smoothie, because while it's all greens and fruit, it's pretty high in (natural) sugar. Well, maybe because of the low glycemic index and slower glucose absorption, I ended up hypoglycemic after a few hours. Had to drink a glass of milk (which is a nono on the diet) to get back to normal. Plus pounded a bunch of nuts before I figured out what the issue was and thought I was just really hungry. Took 2 mag07 (colon cleansing supplement) capsules at bedtime to help move all the fiber along. No movement in the morning. Day 2, woke up slightly low blood glucose again, but just got started on my breakfast smoothie to correct. Smoothie again delicious, smooth sailing until dinner time, when I broke down after cooking for the kids and ate a small portion of pasta with tomato sauce (again, no no). Finally had a BM. Took 3 mag07 at bedtime, and lowered my long-acting insulin dose to avoid another low. Day 3, even lower blood glucose, another glass of milk to correct. Promised colon cleansing did not come into effect until mid-morning. At work. And today's smoothie is not good at all. I'm eating the recommended snack foods instead, hard-boiled eggs, nuts, fruits and veggies. Might try tweaking the recipe for dinner to see if I can make it palatable. I just don't like the combo of banana and blueberry. However, as of this morning I have lost 4 whole pounds (!), and something interesting has happened. I started drinking only water and green tea (which I LOVE, you have to try the Kirkland brand) with this diet, but this morning I forgot my teabags, and the Starbucks tea was way too strong and bitter to drink, so I gave up and just got my usual diet soda for my caffeine fix (you're not supposed to have caffeine, but again, I'm not here for detoxing). I could only get through about half of it when I realized that all I could taste was the artificial sweetener. I think that going even 2 days eating and drinking nothing but natural, wholesome food has already changed my palate, and pop just doesn't taste good anymore. Even if that is the only thing I get from this experience, it will be totally worth it. But I know I'll keep drinking these smoothies after the 10 days (just for 1 meal maybe) because it is a really delicious, efficient way to get lots of greens in your diet, which is so good for you. Day 4, another winner with peaches and berries, mmm. I think at this point I am doing the 'modified cleanse' which is 2 smoothies and one meal per day, because I ate dinner again last night, and I had some vegetarian chili for lunch (I was looking for vegetables but there are none to be found near my work today apparently). Lowered my insulin dose again last night and again had a low this morning. I guess I never realized how much my diet affected my baseline (fasting) glucose. If I continue this as a regular way of eating (which I will) I could potentially halve my doses. That's amazing. Ok, so yesterday was Day 10. Final results: I have lost 8.5 pounds, kicked my soda habit, and drastically reduced my insulin usage. I had an appointment with my diabetes doctor, and he said it would be fine for me to continue with the modified diet indefinitely, so I am continuing to make my smoothie in the morning and having it for breakfast/morning snack, with low-carbs goodies like eggs and nuts, and a nice salad for lunch, then a lean protein/veg dinner. So far, so great. I am not having uncontrollable cravings for unhealthy foods, and I don't have that deprived feeling you get with diets. I have "cheated" a few times, but it's not hard to get back on track quickly. I do feel better energy, and I can see a difference in the mirror, because it seems like a lot of the weight I lost was just un-bloating. I forgot to mention, the 8.5 pounds were lost the week before my period, so instead of blowing up like a puffer fish as I usually would during that time, I was actually slimming down. Nice! I would definitely recommend this to anyone, and I will be doing it again if I find myself getting into unhealthy eating habits again. It was very easy, and surprisingly effective. One last thing: your poop will turn green while you do this, enjoy. Review: Really Works! - I cannot remember what I was searching when I came across JJ Smith's 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse on desertcart. But when I saw it, something prompted me to check it out, almost like I was drawn to it. To provide some background on why I found this book so appealing, I've been suffering from some health issues for a while now, and doctor visits had only left me with more questions and no diagnosis. I've been slowly transitioning into all natural cleaning and hygiene products in an attempt to treat some of my symptoms. A smoothie cleanse to rid myself of toxins (with weight-loss as an added bonus) seemed right up my alley. Smith is a nutritionist, not a doctor. I figured since doctors had failed me thus far, it couldn't hurt to heed the words of a nutritionist! Smith begins by explaining what her green smoothies are and why the cleanse is worth trying. She details how environmental toxins in the food we eat and the products we use are basically causing our systems to shut down as we overload our bodies with destructive substances. Yes, we've heard it all before, but it needs to be hammered in to really take root. The part that hit closest to home was Smith's self-assessment quiz to determine if you're a prime candidate for detoxing. Of course, I ticked off a large majority of the symptoms, so I was one of the best candidates for the cleanse, according to the author. Despite my lack of willpower, I had reached a level of desperation, so I decided to take the plunge. Smith carefully lays out the 10 day cleanse program and important steps to follow during the cleanse. She names foods that must be avoided to get our bodies back on track. She provides an extensive list of greens to be used in the smoothies and the benefits of each type. Smith explains everything so thoroughly, you really can't go wrong. She even provides a full shopping list for picking up groceries and detailed recipes, so she's already done the work for you. She offers tips for success and an FAQ detailing a number of questions that might come up. My Results As of today, I'm on Day 5 and for the first time in my 36 years, I can honestly say I've stuck with a diet plan--if you consider it to be that. On Day 1, I was sleepy after a long night with an ornery toddler, so I was pretty grumpy and out of it already. This was also making me want to snack more so I was basically starving. But the smoothies were so tasty I was able to make it through. My only slip up was that I ate sweetened peanut butter for a snack where she suggested unsweetened peanut butter because I didn't have access to the latter. By Day 2, I received a full night's sleep so I was in better spirits, though still quite hungry. I got my hands on a jar of unsweetened peanut butter so I was able to stay on track. The smoothie recipe for Day 3 called for a banana, and I'm allergic to bananas. I decided since I was eating it over the course of the entire day instead of all at once, I'd see if it would be okay. It was for the most part, but it gave me a terrible stomach ache. When I saw Day 4 called for bananas, as well, I just added extra berries instead and all was well. I was still pretty hungry though and snacked all day. By today, my body seemed to have fully adjusted because I didn't feel like I was starving in between smoothies and made it through another successful day. It's half-way through the cleanse and I am feeling great. Other than desperately craving a cheeseburger like a crack-addict, I'm doing better than ever. I have lots of energy, my brain fog is gone, and I'm in positive spirits despite the fact I recently went off my antidepressant. I've been exercising, as well, so I feel stronger. Smith doesn't call specifically for exercise in the plan (though she definitely doesn't discount the value), but I was already working out so it was inevitable I would continue. I've noticed my muscle and joint pain subsiding, as well. Oh, and did I mention the best part? I've lost five pounds! The book doesn't lie! The author's smoothie recipes are pretty simple to follow. There are a few ingredients that might be hard to find in some areas (ground flax seed, for example) but overall, they can all be found at your local grocery store. The only complaint I have about the ingredients is the cost. Smith encourages use of organic ingredients as much as possible. If they can even be found in organic versions, which in my case weren't always available, the cost might be prohibitive. I spent a lot more on groceries for the smoothie cleanse than I would on a normal grocery trip. Once you factor in all the healthy snacks you'll need for the first few days you feel like you're starving, you come up with a pretty hefty budget. Just keep in mind it's only for ten days. I see no problem with being able to complete the entire cleanse, so I will trudge on. The author provides a plan for transitioning back to "real" food after the smoothie cleanse, complete with recipes for healthy meals. I've found very few diet plans that were as simple for the reader to implement and guided the reader as well as Smith does. Since purchasing this book, I've also purchased her 6 Ways to Lose Belly Fat Without Exercise, so keep an eye out for that upcoming review. I have a lot of confidence in this author and am taking her words to heart.

I am a true convert!
Update (2/18): I have lost 9lbs in 4 days! I lost 5lbs the first 24 hours and 2lbs the next two days. I have 12lbs to go. Stay tuned! Update (2/16): I had a family tragedy, which put me into a depressed tail spin. I gained all my weight back and found 10 more pounds (sigh). After a lot of soul searching, crying, and frustration, I remembered I had JJ’s book. So, I blew off the dust, yesterday (2/15), and started all over. This is what I did.... 1. I burned 2,100 calories, without exercising. And, normally, I have to walk 5 miles to burn that many calories. 2. I drank half my body weight in water - throughout the day. And it was REAL easy, because my stomach wasn’t clogged up with food. 3. I drank my Yogi Peach Detox tea 4. I drank my 3 smoothies with a packet of Starkist Chink Light Tuna (low sodium with water), and a hard-boiled egg as a snack. I lost 5 pounds. I was NOT hungry AT ALL. I didn’t even miss not eating a big meal. Full Disclosure: I am 53 years old, on disability, due to depression, taking meds, which side effects include weight gain, and I’m going through menopause. If I can lose weight using this system ANYBODY can. Update (June 6, 2016) - I am in love with this meal plan! I have jumped off it a couple of times, to enjoy other foods, and my body immediately realizes that it craves the vegetables and fruits. I am seriously not interested in sugars, breads, or fried foods. I can even be around people eating ANYTHING and I am cool drinking water and waiting until it's time for my smoothie. I just don't crave foods anymore. I have WAY more energy. My menopause symptoms are almost hard to detect. And, I am 51 years old. So, I was truly struggling with hot flashes. My grey hair is not coming in as fast; although, my hair is GROWING! I have had multiple compliments that I look younger and healthier. My eyes are so much clearer.... And, last but certainly not least, I no longer crave alcohol! And, I honestly thought that a day without a martini was a day without sunshine (lol). I even invested in a Blendtec from Costco, where you can get it for lowest price. So, making smoothies is as easy as it comes. If you are interested in changing your relationship with food and no longer counting calories, look not further. Get JJ Smith's books (Lose Weight Without Exercising and 10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse) and I PROMISE you, you will lose no less than 15 pounds in 1 month - IF you seriously follow the plan and walk at least 3 miles a day (or 7,500 steps) five days a week. Last week (May 18, 2016), I stepped on the scale and almost started crying. I have slowly gained 15 pounds, in 3 months, after paying a trainer $500/mo, for 3 months, to help me get in shape. In those 3 months with the trainer, I lost 15 pounds and gained muscle. I looked like I did in my early 40s! It took a lot of hard work. I ate like a rabbit. I felt guilty for any food cravings I had. I fought hard to resist the urge to sneak late-night snacks. Our family budge sacrificed a lot to get me a trainer. And, when the 3 months was over, it was over. I had to figure out a way to "fly solo"....., and I failed. I am 51 years old. I am going through CRAZY menopause. You name the symptoms, I have them. Out of desperation, I started looking on-line for self-help books, to help me re-train my late-night binges, having my nightly cocktail, and to gain control of my weight. And, some how I came across JJ Smith's book "Lose Weight Without Exercising". Yea...okay. Sure I can lose weight without exercising. Ain't nobody ever said that. I ain't ever read that ANYWHERE. And, I would be a stark raving idiot to believe the title. At first blush, I wanted to overlook the book, because it seemed too easy. However, I could not get past how many positive reviews the book received. So, I started reading them. Then, I started a "quest" on the internet to find out who this author was and to confirm if she is "credible"...., which I highly doubted.... But, she is CREDIBLE. Here book, and its contents, ARE the real deal. At the end of the day, I bought "Lose Weight Without Exercising" from Audible.com. I crammed, practically, the whole book into a one-day listening session. That same day, I discovered JJ Smith wrote another book, called "10-Day Green Smoothie Cleanse". I went to the book store, the same day, and bought it. I started the cleanse on Friday, May 20. Today is Wednesday, May 25. I am down 11 pounds!!!! I have NO (Zero, Absolutemente Nada) cravings! I wake up, make my shake, put it in a Mason jar, make my green and detox teas, and drink them all down (within 30 minutes). And, I actually have to set an alarm to remind me to eat in 4 hours. Why? Because, I AM NOT HUNGRY!!! I am 100% satiated all day. If I do get hungry, I eat an apple and no sugar peanut butter. Or, I will eat a hard boiled egg and vegetables. Last night, I went too long without food and I felt nauseated. I could not figure out what was going on. My body needed food! It had been 6 hours since I ate! My bad :(. After eating, I immediately felt better, was able to go to bed and woke up feeling wonderful. I have nothing but praises for this book and the cleanse. I have already told 5 people. I have encouraged my husband to start the cleanse. I have benefited, in the following ways, past weight loss: 1. My BMR is higher. I can do less and burn more calories. 2. I am mentally stronger. I do not crave alcohol or any type of snacks; 3. My critical thinking skills are sharper; 4. My digestive system is razor sharp (no constipation, no bloating, and no cramping); 5. I do not feel weighed down in my belly (during the day, or in the evening before I go to bed); 6. I have lots of energy; 7. Un-explicable muscle aches are gone! 8. My face is clear, supple, and younger looking; and, 9. The whites of my eyes are really clear. I will follow the modified cleanse at least 5 days a week, for the rest of my life. I cannot explain how efficient my body is running. I truly feel like an idiot for securing a trainer. All I ever needed was JJ Smith's books. Buy the book. Trust me... You will feel empowered if you read both books and follow the instructions. YOU CAN DO THIS! I will post my pics on May 30, 2016.

Run, Don't Walk to Buy This Book!!
First of all I just want to say thank you to J.J. Smith for writing this book and to the random stranger on Reddit that said this cleanse worked for them! I am amazed. I ended up losing 9 pounds overall, and I haven't had this much energy in what feels like years. Sure, my B12 shots and espresso helped, but this is a different kind of energy....it feels like it's coming from a deeper well, if that makes sense...I had all but given up on having that youthful energy. After working out week after week, trying to 'eat healthy',take vitamins, etc, I was stuck. I didn't have the energy to work out, and seeing no results was so discouraging. I felt like if I could just get a jump start and lose a little, I'd be more inclined to continue. I researched colon cleanses, juice cleanses, etc. Everything said they weren't really good for you, etc. I then came across a comment talking about this cleanse and it's reviews. I poured through pics, reviews and made up my mind to try it. I figured I can do anything for 10 days! I started on a Tuesday, (I definitely recommend starting on a Monday or Tuesday because weekends can be harder mentally for you to want to stick with it) and the first day was hard. I snacked though, on two hard boiled eggs with salt and pepper, plain celery and carrots. On day two I started adding the recommended non whey protein. That definitely helped with the following days. I lost 3 pounds the first day, two the next and 4 over the remaining days. It was hard being around people eating at first, but I powered through. Days 2-4 were increasingly better and by day 5 I was buzzing. I felt really good! Plus in my opinion the smoothies for days 5-10 are better. I have a glow underneath my skin, deep energy, better mood, my ADHD symptoms and brain fog are much improved. This also helped me be more accountable in drinking water because the water helped me stay full. I didn't do the bowel cleansing part because, for the first time in a while I was regular every day. It was solid also, which was a worry of mine. I believe the snacks helped in that respect. After my cleanse I've tried to maintain healthy eating habits and even had a big celebratory meal with my bf and have only gained back a total of less than two pounds. It did make me very aware that certain foods make me bloat and gain weight. Now I'm eating those in moderation. I've also added different smoothies as part of my daily routine. I can eat one for breakfast and maybe even lunch because it not only reduces my caloric intake but I feel full and invigorated. I have a different relationship with food and it has helped me to get back on track. I plan on doing a modified version for a while and trying the cleanse again in a month if I hit a plateau on my goals. One thing I think definitely helps is to try to chew your smoothies as much as possible, some are seedier and have more leafy pieces than others, but chewing helps you extract nutrients, feel fuller and trains you to chew your food better when you start eating solids again. 10 out of 10.

sweet and to the point
The book is short, sweet and to the point. A lot of good info. I like that there is a full cleanse and a modified cleanse option. After taking a metabolism type test several time I always come up protein dominant. Realistically for my individual needs, protein is a must or I'm starving and then come the head aches. Between my Beyond Diet clean eating membership (a great place to electronically access your food log, water intake, exercise, recipes, community chat boards etc) and this book I feel that I am well equipped to progress toward my health and weight loss goals. I advise implementing new dietary routines on the weekend so there aren't any mishaps during the work week. I started this 10 day cleanse on a Saturday. Saturday and Sunday went well. The book was right on about cravings for the first couple days, cravings subsided for me by the 3rd day and even after only two days I felt less bloated, craved more water which was great, and enjoyed the way my body felt energy wise. Although come Monday, the lack of protein and calories did me in at work because I exhaust more energy at work. It's all trial and error figuring out what works for you. Going forward I'm going to eat clean during the week (Beyond Diet style) and do this book's smoothie cleanse on the weekend. I know I won't loose weight as quickly, but overtime I will sustain a healthier food lifestyle. Change, self-discipline, and strength is incremental. Be gentle with yourself. There will be good days and bad ones. Good weeks and bad ones. The more you accept the natural ebb and flow while preserving toward your own goal, the less shame and guilt you'll have which can help keep you on track. As the old adage, slow and steady wins the race. So I'm pacing myself. Couldn't be happier with this book aka new addition to my conscientious food intake and I look forward to the results. This is the first cleanse I have ever tried. Glad I'm sticking to weekends because it really does clean you out if you know what I mean. I will also only drink the detox teas they recommended on the weekend for the same reasons. I posted about this cleanse on IG and my friend already wants to buy this book, check out Beyond Diet, and keep each other accountable by doing it together. Another great way to achieve personal goals is the buddy system. Yoga and building core strength is next on my list. I encourage those who want to implement healthier lifestyle to strongly consider timing of when you start and listening to your bodies needs. I just relocated and started a new job that has a huge learning curve. I'm happy I am at the point that I can start working on my personal weight loss and health goals. Positive vibes, surround yourself with people who life you higher. It's all about self-love and self-care. You will get there in your own time.

What an amazing book!
What an amazing book! Im not a believer of diets or drastic changes in you eating habits. That only means temporary change=body harm. Im a 31 y/o. No kids. Married. With a 7:30-5:00 job. A 40 min commute. And a fitbit watch to try to achieve at least 8,000 steps a day. In other words, Im kinda normal. I always was underweight. My ideal weight used to be 106-110. Im only 5ft. When I turned 26 my weight started to change due to bad eating habits. I went to 125, then 135 and finally 145. I started watching what I was eating about two years ago, but loosing that extra weight hasn't been easy. As per my primary doc, my ideal weight for my height and age should be 115-125. I dont know how to achieve that! I do not consume sugars/sweets because I simply dont like them. My weakness is beer and buffalo wings. I dont eat salty either, it became a habit after my dad got a heart surgery about ten years ago. My breakfast is usually tea with crackers, for lunch I like soup, and dinner varies. But I think dinner is what kills me. For the most part I cook a typical Hispanic meal: rice, beans, and some sort of meat. But when I don't cook, hubby and I just order food (pizza or Chinese). For about two years now, my weight hit the 130-135 mark. I have not been able to weight less than that. I decided to give this book a try not to achieve my ideal weight, I gave up on that a while ago. But to cleanse my system which I think is something I truly need. In just four days I already feel the difference: Im sleeping so much better. I have so much energy and somehow, Im always happy (Im like that famous grumpy cat, so a happy face is abnormal in my case haha). Giving up meats is not a challenge (I was vegetarian for about three years, until I developed rashes and a weak inmune system). Im not that much into dairy. Fruits are the love of my life. I love bread, but I can survive without it; same with pasta. But the beer??? Oh my! I love my beer at night. Yet, I have not missed it. Im fine without it ;) Weird craving Ive been having is salt. However, I love pickled veggies, so I guess thats where the craving comes from. What makes this program easy is that you are not deprived from eating at all. If you feel hungry you get to eat any veggies or fruits of your choice. You also get to eat hard boiled eggs, which I never ate those many before in my life hahaha. They are filling and very nutricious. The book does not mention a limit on eggs. I did some research and an average of 4-6 a day is completely healthy. I'm having three a day. I also snack on fruits and veggies that are not part of the smoothy of the day, that way I do not loose motivation. I am not doing the salt-water flush. Not my thing.! I will let my body do everything on its own. Im not adding sweetners either, but thats just because as I said before, I dont like sweets. Im drinking plenty of water which I always have, and a bought a variety of detox teas to switch flavors. Lastly, pretty much all my ingredients are organic. Ive been buying organic for years now. And I am not adding any protein to my smoothies. I rather to get that protein from organic eggs. I will update this post with more results. My experience is a good one. I completely suggest you try this program. The only side effect I experienced was a little rash by my lip. It went away in half hour and it happened on my first day. Another thing Im experiencing is something like hot-flashes hahaha... I just wake up sweating and with my body tempeture up. But I dont feel like is something bad. Maybe the sweat is the way my system is cleansing. By the way, I decided to take pics everyday. I want to see the difference my self. No filters used, filters dont cheat others but yourself! And, I decided to use the same outfit when taking the pictures so that the results are hopefully, more visible. Good luck trying the program! 2/4/16 Update Hello everyone! I am sorry for not updating this post earlier. Believe it or not, I couldnt figure out how to do it + Im a busy girl. So, I uploaded all other pics. Since a succesful end to my cleanse, I have continued with the modified version (2 smoothies and a HEALTHY meal). My total loss was 10 pounds and I continue to be at 125. 125 is perfect in my case given my height and age. However, I am thinking about doing the cleanse again soon; not to lose weight, but to get rid of xmas/new yrs/vacation toxins :) I have to admit that my eating habits completely changed. I continue to crave fruits and veggies on a daily basis. To me that is the most interesting part of all. I continue to indulge on buffalo wings and beer over the weekends and my results continue to be the same. By The way, on the weekends I rarely drink smoothies; I eat 2-3 meals and feel just fine. However, and once again, my meals are healthy. I kinda became a pesquetarian, all I eat is fish and lots of veggies. On another note, I gave a try to three different things mentioned in the book: sea-salt water flush (I add a lime to it to make it easier to drink) and oh my if I recommend it, it makes me feel digestively clean :). I also bought Mag07 and wow! JJ Smith is right about those pills, is a great way to stay regular and help your digestive system stay healthy. Finally, I did the liver cleanse (8oz water and 2tbs apple cider vinegar) and my waist has gotten thinner. I continue to go to the book all the time. I get recipes from there, and I just go back to her various tips. Since, I bought another book with hundreds of green smoothie recipes. I like JJ Smith's recipes better because are less sweeter, but nonetheless, the other book helps me keep up with my routine too. I developed a method: Once a month I get a shopping list ready. I separate all recipes on ziploc bags and freeze them. The night before I take them out and done! I waste no time making my daily dose of health. I also bought a Ninja blender. Mine was a small one and I had to make a smoothie at a time (no time for that in the am). Im totally in love with my new blender because I make 2-3 cups of the same smoothie at once. Feel free to ask me questions. I continue to recommend the book. Im also very active in JJ Smith's twitter account because the program worked like a charm in my case. I love my new eating habits and how I feel in general, and thats all thanks to JJ Smith. Last note: people constantly compliment me on my skin and hair, people do notice my weight loss, and people continue to talk about how cheerful I am most of the time which I find hillarious given how grumpy I am ha! Best of luck to those considering the cleanse.

JJ Smith is changing lives one green smoothie at a time!
I can't believe it's taken me this long to finally start the GSC! If you know JJ Smith, you know she's a fixture in the Black community and has been helping folks get healthy forever. This cleanse is so effective, I'm not even waiting until the 10 days are up to review it. The book is concise, easy-to-read, and doesn't waste any time giving you the cleanse recipes. There are 2 types of cleanses (full and modified), and she provides a general outline for each, as well as tips for success during the cleanse. If you commit, you will lose. I'm currently on day 7 and I've lost 8 pounds. While I know it's mostly water weight, this cleanse is a great way to jumpstart a weight/fat loss journey. And yes, the smoothies are DELICIOUS (seriously, no misses yet), but it's the benefits I'm enjoying the most. Clearer skin, better sleep, plenty of energy, and a feeling of general well-being you really can't buy. I'm eating more fruits and vegetables than ever before, and my body is extremely happy. I think I've already dropped all my water weight at this point (my weight has slowed from 2lbs to 0.8lbs per day), so I'm looking forward to actual fat loss at this point. I did make some modifications to suit my lifestyle. I am very active (15-20K steps per day, strength training 4-5x per week), so I wanted to ensure I wasn't losing any muscle mass during the cleanse. The smoothies are high in nutrition but lowish in protein, so I'm adding vegan protein to every one of my smoothies, eating 2 hard-boiled eggs, and eating a can of tuna every day, ensuring I'm consuming at least 100g of protein per day. There has been no stall in my weight loss as far as I can tell. JJ encourages you eat! Don't limit yourself to just the smoothies--add fruits and crunchy veggies to stave off hunger--because this is not a starvation or calorie-counting diet. Focus on health and the weight loss will happen. Most importantly: BUY THE BOOK. Don't watch YouTube videos! The book offers a wealth a knowledge you can reference at a later time, so it's worth buying and keeping.

and was pretty surprised. I lost it all from my hips ...
This book has done wonders for me. I have completed Day 7 out of 10 now, starting after Thanksgiving. I am down a total of 11 lbs. I thoroughly believe this book can help those that have weight issues or an unhealthy relationship with food. I just had my second baby a little over 4 months ago, and have really been struggling with weight. I wasn't at a healthy weight before the baby due to years at a desk job, little to no exercise, and eating whatever I wanted (rarely healthy). A word of caution, doing this cleanse while breastfeeding can wreak havoc on your milk production. While I know that much of the weight I lost Day 1 was water weight and leftover weight from Thanksgiving that just hadn't fallen off thanks to a lot of salt. I would guess I have still lost at least 8 lbs. I took my measurements the day before I started and again this evening, and was pretty surprised. I lost it all from my hips and belly. I lost about 3 inches from my belly and about 2 inches from my hips. I feel more energetic, and in the afternoon, I have been excited enough to go for a walk during my lunch break just to improve my results. The smoothies taste pretty good, the prep is fairly quick. I make mine the night before, seal them tight, and refrigerate them until I take them to work the next day. You will lose weight if you do what she says. You will sleep deeper, think clearer, move faster, and, once you get through the nasty detox symptoms, you will feel better. JJ Smith lists a bunch of symptoms. Here's what mine were: runny nose for first three days, scratchy throat from runny nose, headaches for the first four days from no caffeine, temporary bathroom issues from sudden change in diet, and really bad night sweats for the first four days. The worst part was sweating at night, but I know it was detoxing all the terrible things I was used to eating. Afterward, my skin is clearer, tighter, and feels softer. I love it! You can say you can't do it because you don't have time. You can say you can't do it because you have lunch meetings at work. You can also say it is too hard. If you believe these things, you will make them true. I have had an unhealthy relationship with food my whole life. I used to think about food often and plan my day around food. I LOVE to eat. I love the way it tastes and the way it makes me feel afterward. This cleanse has taught me the difference between eating for health and eating crud because it releases endorphins to ease stress. I also have found I like more healthy foods than I did in the beginning. If I can do it, anyone can do it. I have a very busy lifestyle between work, 2 kids, and a frequent traveller of a husband. Even the modified cleanse will work wonders. I lost about 10 lbs in a month doing 1 smoothie, 1 healthy meal, and then a meal of whatever my toddler wanted for dinner. I have not felt deprived once. Here's to over 20 lbs down over 2.5 months, and hopefully many more to lose!
