M1 USB Lavalier Lapel Clip-on Omnidirectional Computer Microphone for Laptop, PC and Mac, Perfect Podcasting, Gaming, Streaming and Desktop Mic (20-Foot Cord)

Excellent and easy to use

I use this with my BirdNET-Pi to listen for birds in the area. The cable is very long which is convenient for placing the mic wherever I like. BirdNET-Pi is a Raspberry Pi 4b running the birdnet pi software which listens for, analyzes, and reports bird activity by species.

This is a good quality microphone that I purchased to get the long cord and USB interface. It works exactly as expected. Plug it in, launch a recording application like Audacity, it appears as a microphone choice with no software or drivers to install. You should understand what an Omnidirectional microphone is before ordering this product. Omnidirectional means it picks up sounds from all (omni-) directions. In general, you should eliminate external noise before recording audio, but that is especially important with an omnidirectional microphone like this one. It will pick up fan noises, refrigerator and air conditioner hum just as well as voices. Unidirectional (cardioid) microphones pick up sound primarily from one direction, so they are generally better for use as a talent mic. They are also more expensive. Here are the ideal uses of this microphone: 1. Skype/conference calls on computers (not mobile devices) 2. Talent microphone, as long as you understand the limits of omnidirectional mics (above) 3. Emergency backup mic, hidden in the flowers between two interviewees, in case the primary microphones fail I use it for use case #3. Two talents have wireless cardioid mics on their collars. The wireless receiver feeds audio into the camcorder. This microphone is hidden in the flowers on the table in between the two interviewees. It feeds audio into a laptop. The laptop audio is inferior to the camcorder audio because it is further from both talents, but inferior is better than nothing if the wireless signal fails. The flowers are visible in wide and medium shots but not close-ups. I'm happy with the product, particularly with the long cord.

Good audio pickup. Precisely what I was looking for, a hardwired low-cost PC mic that works with no hassle on Linux PCs.

Updated 3/9/2017 When Nuance has included headsets with microphones to use with its Dragon Naturally Speaking products, those headsets have been very uncomfortable. And when I have tried to bend them to conform to my head, they often break. So the obvious solution is a good, inexpensive lavalier mic such as this one, which works well with Dragon. The cord is a bit long for my purpose, but overall, that is not too much of a hindrance, considering the mic is so light that I forget I am wearing it. Once, a fellow climber shared the maxim: whenever you are wearing crampons, remember that you are wearing them. And when you aren't wearing them, remember that you aren't. The same could be said of this mic. There is a danger that you will get up to answer the phone or the door, forgetting that you are connected via a cord to a USB port. Damage can result! Always remember that you are wearing this mic. But if you make this mistake (as I did recently, breaking the clip), consider buying the Tie Clip with Foam Windscreen for Lavalier, Lapel & Headset Microphones like Audio Technica ATR-3350 (Pair), also available from Amazon @$14.95. It fits exactly and is a perfect replacement. With that caution, I gladly recommend this product for utility uses like Dragon..

I needed a good mic for zoom teleconferencing, and although my built-in computer mic did ok, I bought this to have better quality. I played with the zoom audio settings with our sound check person and found that it worked best on zoom if instead of adjusting the mic manually, to leave it on automatic setting and let the computer take over. So I highly recommend putting it on automatic audio setting! It's a good mic for the money, and you get a clip-on attachment of course that is handy for your tie, pocket, etc., as it doesn't have to be too close to your mouth. In fact on zoom no one even sees the mic as it's just below camera view when I'm sitting. And even if they did see it, it would not attract undue attention. It comes with ample cord length and usb connection, so no worries on that. Overall it's a great little addition if you're having to regularly give talks, presentations, or just regular participation on any teleconference platform.

I expect USB mics to have very low sound in Windows 10, but this one's so loud I have to keep the gain down at about 50 -- not a bad thing. Because this mic is sensitive, it picks up lots of ambient sound, including just the neutral "air" sounds of the room, but since I got it for my wife to use in Zoom teaching, that's fine because Zoom (and some similar apps) has automatic noise cancellation that blocks all that "sound of the room," keeping only the voice nice and clear. The super-long cord is way more than we need, but may be a plus for other users. The recording does pick up noise if anything rubs against or bumps the cord, but only for the couple of feet of cord near the microphone, so the issue is manageable. Great for the purpose I bought it for.

Lo probé en mi Mac, iPhone y iPad (en estos dos últimos con un adaptador) y el ruido de fondo es exagerado. Este producto no sirve para Apple (en Windows no he probado) y no deberían anunciarlo como válido para Mac. El micrófono de ambiente que lleva incorporado el iPhone es muchísimo mejor. Obviamente lo he tenido que devolver y comprarme otro de otra marca.
