I am utterly amazed at the performance of this product
The first image shows a before and the images #2 and #3 show an after. I don't know the exact spot I marked on the before image so I took two showing the full length of leather I treated here. The last two show the difference between before and after in the same image. The top portion of each images is treated and the bottom isn't. Notice the scuff marks and dark grayish color of the bottom section. All the leather I treated had the look of the bottom section. I bought this product because I'm in the process of making a leather belt bag out of black oil tanned leather but the leather has been sitting for a few years, so the leather wasn't in the best of condition. I went to the place I bought the leather to show them the issue to see if they can recommend a product to get rid of the spots and other marks on the leather and they gave me a leather conditioner, which did condition the leather but didn't really help hiding the spots. I'm spending a lot of time on this bag for myself and want it to look like I put my best effort into it so I started looking for black no gloss shoe polish, which I don't think exists since I couldn't find any and then I found this. I treated another part of the leather earlier and followed the instructions for applying and then buffing after but it didn't have a shin like with show polish, which is exactly what I was looking for. There was kind of a semi-gloss, for lack of a better term, which was fantasico. I was looking for somewhere between a matte to semi-gloss finish, which this is. The after images above were taken immediately after application but I ran my fingers across the treated area and it was completely dry with absolutely no transfer to my fingers. The dye was completely absorbed by the leather. I used a sponge from a different source as opposed the the one that was included but it was a similar texture. I didn't want to use the included sponge in case I needed to return the product but I won't be doing that now after I see how well it works. I kept on rubbing the product into the leather until it didn't have that wet shine any longer and then a little bit more, which for this length of leather (about 1.5" x 8" give or take) took only a couple of minutes if that long. I am completely 100% happy with my purchase and will do it again if I need more of this but I think this should be sufficient for me to complete the bag I'm working on and then some. I would highly recommend this product to anyone trying to restore the finish on black oil tanned leather products like motorcycle saddle bags that have been affected from adverse effects of being out in the weather. I can't comment on how well this product does at moisturizing the leather since I had already treated these portions of leather with a conditioner from a different company so your results might vary. I can only comment on how well it removes ugly blotches and scratches on the leather. I do have one very minor complaint: I noticed that when pouring out a bit of the product on the leather or sponge, it comes out more than I wanted to each time I did it. More than likely it's because I'm just not used to the viscosity of the product but I would have liked there to be some restriction on how much comes out of the bottle, maybe utilizing a smaller hole on the cap. This stuff goes a long way so the area I was looking to treat above should have been able to treat it with just three or four drops. This isn't a deal breaker though and feel it'll just take a little getting used to but it is something potential customers need to be made aware.

Restored my expensive bomber style leather jacket. Very happy with the results!
I purchased this Original Doc Baileys Black Leather Detail Kit 80004-12 for the specific purchase of rejuvenating my Calvin Klein "Bomber Style" jacket purchased over 10 years ago. During that time, Iโve worn this jacket only occasionally for mostly dressier occasions and have always made an effort to protect and regularly maintain the condition and appearance of its leather. Despite such measures, I was disappointed to discover one day while conditioning the leather that a few areas of slight color loss to the black leather pigment had become visible. First, the inside of the neck collar seemed to be discoloring somewhat, presumably due to my neck perspiration and the salt content found in such. Secondly, the folded edges of the leather located along the wrist areas, bottom, and adjacent to the front zipper appeared to be losing much of their blackness from normal wear to those areas. Third, some lightening to the black leather had inexplicably developed in a few noticeable areas located on the front breast and upper/middle back portions of the jacket. Fourth, and finally, some very light scratches could be found on the leather. Had this been a cheaper and more casual jacket for me, I would have simply attributed these issues to expected wear-and-tear and chalked it all up to giving the jacket some characterโฆ but considering that I had originally paid $300 for this jacket and not worn it all that much, I was committed to seeing what I could do to possibly get it back to tip-top shape. After reading many reviews for the various leather detail kits available, I finally settled upon this product used in tandem with Bickmore Bick 4 Leather Conditioner (8 oz.)โฆ and couldnโt be any happier with the results both products delivered. Application of this black leather cream was fairly effortless and I found that a small bit definitely seemed to go a long way for my specific needs on this bomber jacket of mine. The aforementioned issues were all corrected and black coloring was restored evenly to the jacket, just as I had hoped and expected. After allowing the black leather cream to thoroughly dry, I applied the Bickmore Bick 4 Leather Conditioner for the purpose of restoring the leather to its original soft and subtle feel which it did admirably. Overall, Iโm very pleased with the results I achieved from using these products on my jacket. I would definitely purchase them both again.

Made 35 yr. Old Jacket New
I have a Wilson leather stadium jacket that was purchased in the 80โs that I wear very often to cut the cold wind in Wisconsin. I love this jacket, and despite the years, the leather is like new except for the dye beginning to fade. Iโve had the jacket re-lined because I simply cannot find anything comparable since getting this jacket. After reading numerous reviews I decided to try this product, and Iโm impressed!! You MUST use gloves when applying this and use it outside on a surface you wonโt be upset about if it drips, because the dye IS permanent. It goes on easily, and I used the entire bottle on my stadium jacket, and another short leather jacket that I purchased 25+ years ago, and they both look like new. I followed the directions and spent time and elbow grease to buff the jackets after letting them dry for a couple hours to make them shine and remove any excess. I have not noticed any transference of dye to other clothing or car upholstery since following instructions. Highly recommend!

This is great stuff!!
I don't usually leave reviews but for this leather product I had to. My black leather jacket, which I wear all winter long, is about 25 years old and extremely worn out. I just finished applying Doc Bailey's product and I am stunned on how great my jacket looks again! I highly recommend this for anyone that owns a leather. Especially old worn ones.

Splotchy and not soft. If you use get a small orbital buffer!
Seeing white lines forming on my drivers seat I used this product to restore the black. Iโve used different products on leathers over the years, so Iโm not a newbie or fool. Following their directions, I went ahead and did the entire seat cushion. I worked it in, didnโt over use or under use. Let it sit for 1 hourโฆ When I came back, before I even started buffing, I noticed it being splotchy. Wasnโt splotchy prior, just the white lines forming.Leather was perfect otherwise. Have always kept up with it. I started to buff, but really wasnโt; getting anywhere. I have the brush for working conditioner into leather, so I also used it to try and move the product. Nopeโฆ Had to go back a 2nd time. Really not excited with that, because it can really change the color and itโs expensive! I havenโt had it out in the sun to really look at it, but with a high powered LED work light I still noticed spots. You can see it in the pictures. That wasnโt there prior. Itโs not an easy product to buff either. My recommendation, get a small orbital buffer with a microfiber bonnet. Put ZERO pressure on it, and just let the weight and movement of the machine do the work. Looks like Iโm doing that this weekend, using it one more time trying to blend this godawful product. I will have to start that this weekend to hopefully save my leather from thisโฆ Considering itโs going to deepen the color of the black, I donโt have a choice Iโm going to have to do the entire car! I think 45% of the car is leather! If I donโt that drivers seat is going to be BLACK, and the rest of the car will look perfect. That leather is from a 2007 Mercedes GL450, so itโs not cheap garbage leather that wouldnโt accept polish. Iโve never had to repair the seats because I keep up with the conditioning. Iโve used Leather Honey forever, and swear by it. The entire dash is leather, and looks like it just came out of the showroom! Remember, itโs a 2007! Well it looked like new until I used this horrible product. Iโm really afraid trying to fix it, because now itโs only going to continue to deepen the black splotchy areas. Yes the pillars have been removed in the dash photo. It looks goofy! Lolโฆ Having them redone, and adding sound damping to the entire car. Donโt like debit, and donโt want to get rid of the car. Itโs darn near perfect, and well kept up. Thatโs what is making me so mad. All of that time and effort, just to have this product screw it up. Considering I now have to do the entire car to get it blended correctly, I started using it on the dash, and Iโm getting the EXACT same results!!! I included photos of it too. SPLOTCHY! The more I type this, and look at the pictures, the angry Iโm getting!!!! Iโm seriously thinking about just purchasing a really expensive product to rectify their garbage results, but now Iโm afraid it will deep the splotchy areas! I better not have to take it to a professional and pay them to fix the problems from this garbage. Like I said, Iโve taken care of the leather, as you can see, so Iโm not inept to dealing with leather. Also, it DID NOT condition the leather! It honestly made it stiffer. After I finished, and noticed it was stiffer, I immediately used Leather Honey to soften it up again. I didnโt want the seat to crack or tear because it was so crunchy. It seems like that product dried out the leather quickly. Seriously love Leather Honey and swear by it! I think it saved my seat. Make sure you get a brush with any condition to really work it in, and make sure you work it into the stitching area. Thatโs a huge focal point that will tear first. I followed their directions exactly as written. Iโve included them, so everyone can read it. I donโt believe thereโs a detergent. Detergents weaken bonds, to make things fall off. Thatโs how soap works. Example; It just weakens the bond of dirt and bacteria on your hands. It doesnโt sanitize and โcleanโ your hands. They state that it has lanolin oil in it. Again it dried my leather out and made it stiff. So either their choice of detergent breaks down the oil, or they didnโt include the oil in the mix. Detergents DO dry things out. Look at your hands after youโve washed a lot of things. They are dry because it has pulled the moisture out. FYI, No I donโt get paid from Leather Honey. Iโm not a rep, or a bot. Realized I referenced it a couple of times, and just want people to have leather that looks good for a long time. Look at mine as an example. Itโs expensive to repair, and lord knows whatโs coming down the pipeline with supply, or means to fix it. You may have to stick with your car for awhile, and lord knows you want it look nice. Thatโs why Iโm attacking everything and redoing it.

Great product!
I used this on my 20 year old, faded leather coat and it brought it back to life again! Product went on easy with the applicator sponge provided and gave the coat even black covering. It dried fast and did not have a strong odor as other products have! Going to use on some shoes and my wife's black purse next.
