Fitment is decent, be prepared to cut to make a single din fit.

Fit my 1983 Chevy K20 Scottsdale truck very nicely. Good quality. I used this template to change the standard radio mount location in my truck to accept a single DIN style radio. This template kit fit the dash exactly and provided an exact fit template to cut my dash and dash panel to a very clean exact fit DIN opening. The finished project looks great. It would be nicer if it was a metal template instead of plastic. But it did the job I needed and worked great.

Good design. Made of abs plastic. The inner is also abs or painted or colored not sheet metal that it looks like. Don't know how the abs will hold up to the sheet metal ears of the radio sleave.. it looks silver in Amazon photo. Listing add lists a cassette holder built in. Can't see where? Will need to provide extra support to the back of the radio. Good for laying out and cutting your din hole in the dash. Will also fit the 88-90 (Square Body style)Suburban which didn't change till 91 or 92.

Fits single din radio perfect

The dash on my 87 GMC had been badly hacked up by a previous owner trying to install a DIN style radio with poor results. Found this by total accident & figured there was nothing to loose by giving it a try & it works perfectly! People complaining about the backing plate being ABS plastic & not metal must just be looking for something to be complain about as it’s plenty sturdy & not at all flimsy. It’s the same material as the factory cluster bezel after all. Sure the picture shows a metal one, & should probably be updated, but the description clearly states made of ABS plastic. Also, the screw holes line up perfectly. Not sure why others have had trouble. The outer trim also fit great & the color & texture are spot on for the factory cluster bezel. All & all, I’m very pleased with the way the installation came out & would not hesitate to use this product again.

The picture shows a metal back plate, it’s plastic. It’s flimsy, not as sturdy as metal. Buyer beware.

This product was helpful, the metallic plate makes the cage more sturdy especially if you have to cut your dash to fit the DIN style stereos of today in your classic pick up, the only unfortunate thing I can say for this is that I wish it came with screws because my particular model never came factory with a stereo just a blank face, the extra 3 dash screws would have come in real handy, all in all my dash is now perfectly cut to accept the stereos of today, not the easiest thing I have done but not the hardest job I have ever had, definitely time consuming but worth doing if you want it done right and to look good, I highly recommend this item as opposed to going crazy with a hack saw and hoping for all to look good, this kit ensure that my truck looks as if it came modernized with the DIN with out looking like a hack job

I got this to fix my dashboard radio spot because it was cut by a previous owner in 1982 GMC pick up. It did the job perfectly real easy installation. The new radio fits perfectly.

I used this product in my 1981 Chevy and it was a perfect fit.

No metal backing plate like the pic. Both are plastic. Installed in my 1976 Chevrolet truck and work perfectly and seems sturdy enough.

As others have stated - the piece for behind the dash bevel is made of plastic and not metal like the picture shows. Should change it to metal or change the picture.
