Streamlight 69450 TLR RM 2 Compact, Portable Rail-Mounted LED Tactical Lighting System with Tail Loc, Remote Switch, and 2 Lithium Batteries, Black

I've owned and used many different WML's over the years (Surefire, Inforce, Streamlight, Olight, etc.) and have always found Streamlight to be the best value for an affordable & decently rugged light. One of my previous Streamlights was the original TLR RM2 w/its 1k lumens & 10k candela output. While a great light in its own right (love the trim & low profile design), I found the 10k candela a bit on the weak side for my needs. Enter the new TLR RM2, now with an improved mount and 22k candela. The new mount, while perhaps not quite as easy to attach & detach as the original (you do have to be careful not to strip the new RM2's bolt heads w/the 5/64" hex wrench), is definitely stronger w/a longer rail grabber section and two bolts instead of one. Once firmly attached, it's going to take a very strong kinetic impact to break that mount. Streamlight lists the IPX rating as IPX7, but that's w/o using the remote switch (which lowers it to IPX4, you can't get something for nothing), that's good enough for anything I'm likely to encounter. Pro tip when using the remote switch: When you remove the rubber remote switch port plug to insert the remote switch plug, there's a small gap under the rear of the light over a few picatinny rail sections. If you have excess cable to manage, you can weave the cable in and out of those picatinny rail sections under the gap, to be held in place by the rear of the RM2 when you mount it. Minor complaint: I have no need for the programmable strobe feature, but while experimenting found it very difficult to do the 10 1/4 second switch taps to change the programming. The light body itself appears very strong & durable, usual Streamlight quality. The 1/4 turn lockout feature on the bezel is excellent, and you can change batteries by completely unscrewing the bezel w/o removing the light from the firearm. I did a side-by-side comparison w/an Olight PL Turbo (800 lumens, 66k candela), both in my garage and at the range. Inside the garage it's obvious how much more peripheral spill the Streamlight has over the Olight which translates into better situational awareness (both lights aimed at the furnace on the left, notice the difference in spill on the right). At the range, the Olight has the advantage at distance, but again the advantage of the Streamlight's wider/stronger peripheral spill is obvious. Both lights are aimed at the 100yd target w/the 50yd target slightly to the right and the 200yd target in the distance. Even with only 1/3 the Olight's candela, the Streamlight looks to be good to at least 100yds (note: range pics taken on different days, the Streamlight pic was taken shortly after raining so there's moisture haze visible in the photo). The more I use the RM2, the more impressed I am by the great combination of features and performance. My only question at the moment is whether or not it's safe to use 16650 rechargeable batteries in the RM2. Others have tried it and say it's safe but Streamlight told me 'no rechargeable batteries of any kind' in the RM2. Regardless, I give the RM2 a full 5 stars, another hit out of the park for Streamlight! ETA: Did another night shoot, biggest takeaway was the difference in effective spill at distance. Two target stands appx 25' apart at 100yds. With the Olight focused on one stand, the other was not visible despite being in the Olight's spill zone. With the Streamlight TLR RM2 focused on one stand, the other was dim but clearly visible. As someone else has stated, "I *want* candela for distance, but I *need* sufficient spill for situational awareness."

- The light feels like quality. - 1000LM is super bright. - The button feels sturdy. - Its angle is comfortable for thumb or forefinger (depending on where you mount it). - The remote switch feels super sturdy. - Most impressive were the mounting options that come with the switch: rail clips, sticky tape, screws, and zip ties. I used the screws to fasten the switch to my KelTec RDB and it feels rock solid. - The short press for on/off, long press for momentary, is intuitive and idiot proof. - The bezel is thin and smooth, so it could be hard to affect the "safe off" function. But if you only twist that on/off when taking your weapon in/out of its case, you should not have to manipulate this function under stress. My only complaint is the rubber cap that covers the hole if you don't use the remote switch. The rubber cap falls off way too easy. If you mount the light on a long rail, a little ridge in the rubber cap SHOULD fit into the rail and hold the cap in place. But if you mount the light on a short raised rail, the cap will not be held in and you will DEFINITELY lose it. For this reason I am buying an Inforce WML for my rifle with a short rail. Otherwise, the TLR RM is awesome.

I was looking to replace an older model Inforce with the same style of light. Enter Streamlight. The TLR RM2 is slightly more compact than the similar Inforce, and has an all-metal body, which I personally prefer. I also like the "positive" click/feel to the tailswitch activation as opposed to the "mushiness" I found in my old Inforce. The remote pressure switch comes with a variety of mounting options, and works perfectly. The light operates at high power in all 3 modes (continuous, momentary & strobe) - there is no low option. I have to agree with other reviewers about the fit of the rubber tailcap -- it sucks... Fell right out immediately upon taking the light out of the packaging. I highly recommend using this light with the pressure switch installed. As noted, I've used this style of light for several years, and personally like the style for its ergonomics/ease of use -- and having used both brands, I have no problem recommending the TLR RM2 over the similar Inforce.

Love this light for my rifle's, usually buy with the switch. Also, there are different models, I like the one with two screws for rail mounting (there are models for just one). I very much like that with the front bezel you can turn to disconnect the batteries. Why you ask, because a lot of LED flashlights have what is called parasitic discharge, i.e. when the light is off, they still pull current from the batteries, so this will discharge the batteries over time when they are off! So, when you need them, you may have to find and install new batteries, could be very bad in an emergency! With Streamlight you can turn the front bezel and stop this, and when you're ready to go, just turn it back and your good to go, without worrying if your light will work!

I now have 4 of these on different rifles with more to be ordered. Very pleased with the light output and spill. The low profile looks and works very well to help prevent snags and hangups, larger lights can cause. I really like the disable switch built into the light bezel to prevent accidental activation of the light in storage or transport. The remote switch kit is great now that I have figured out how to properly use the 2 rubber rail switch holders. Only 2 real concerns. Like mentioned by others , the rubber plug that covers the remote switch plugin is useless as there is NO retention. Not a huge issue for me, since I am using the remote switches. Second, I would like the head of the cross screw that attaches the light to be a little larger for ease of assembly/disassembly.

I'm retired military (Airborne, Ranger, SF, etc) and used various weapon lights in the military to include testing a number of Surefire rifle lights. Surefire are top notch, but they cost as much as the weapon, which is ludicrous. I have a TLR 1 HL on two of my Glock 34s and I think they are excellent and are a great bank for the buck. I just purchased the TLR RM2 for an AR platform and I really like it. The light is extremely bright and distance outside and inside for CQB. The mounting system for the switch pad is great as it connects to your picatinny rail and the mount has notches on the underside for cable management. I'm running mine at the 12 o'clock position currently and its great. I'll be ordering one more in the near future for another AR platform.

Bright light, stands up to multiple days at the range and hundreds of rounds. The remote switch works wellm

Great light but the screws for mount of flash light are cheap odd size Allen wrench fitting. Nothing I had would fit and they stripped out easily. Had to send it back to Streamlight to have them replaced. Other than that I love the light.
