I purchase this for my son studio he loves the quality and how it blocked sound

If you're looking for a low cost and lightweight solution for home studio podcasting, voice-over and vocal recording, the RF-X Reflection Filter X is a great solution. The half-filter measures 16" across and just under 12" inches high. Nice construction made of durable plastic and quality foam for the capsule. You will notice three easy pieces: 1) The L Bracket, 2) one separate screw that attaches to the microphone stand, 3) the longer piece that holds your microphone to the L bracket. That's all there is. Set up takes 5-10 minutes. These pieces work together so that you can adjust the capsule to your liking or personal preferences. PLEASE NOTE: There is no manual included in the box, only a leaflet included with directions to go to their website to download the simple PDF instructions online. SE Electronics does this to cut down on environmental waste and keep their product manuals up-to-date. IMPORTANT: Don't get frustrated when you can't mount the microphone. You do not need to buy an additional adaptor. Just use a screwdriver or dime to remove the screw (inside the screw) to access the U.S. mic stand adapter. European mics can use the adapter as is, but for those in the U.S., once you unscrew the first screw, you will then have the second screw visible that will fit U.S. mic stands. I would purchase again and recommend SE Electronics.

This thing is great as long as you manage your expectations. If you're recording a loud, aggressive vocal into a sensitive mic, and you're doing it in a room with a lot of natural reverb, don't expect it to kill all those sound reflections because it won't (at least it didn't when I tried it) - but it DID get rid of the nastiest ones and made the vocal sound much better (in fact, the amount of natural reverb that remained sounded pretty good). When I was merely talking close to the mic, it eliminated almost everything - but not everything, not in the room I used. I'm going to guess this thing is great for most rooms, but if the only room you have available is filled with reverb, you'll probably still need to do some acoustic treatment. By the way, there are no instructions on how to assemble it. Luckily, it's very simple , especially after checking out one of the short videos on youtube. One last thing - it's not that heavy, but it does require a decent mic stand. The cheap ones will probably be too rickety, especially with a condenser mic in a shock mount.

i have a partially treated room and needed that last finishing touch to bring the "room" sound under full control. this thing got the job done. its smaller than you think it will be so be forewarned. also if you're looking for some mind blowing effect from this one item then you'll surely be disappointed. the effect it has is notable but if you think you're going to get a studio quality sound from this and this alone its likely not going to happen. do your best to treat the room by any means possible. use cheap mattress toppers or pillows from your local wal-mart or whatever foam you can get your hands on and use this in conjunction with that. or maybe you have a well built acoustically sound home and just need that finishing touch. either which way this is an effective albeit pricy tool despite its small size and despite being so light weight. there is one design flaw but its not so that its unusable but i feel the L-shaped arm is just a bit too long. it makes it so the mic cord is off kilter and puts a tiny bit of extra stress on the shockmount bands. by no means a deal breaker tho. hope this helps;^)

I have used this when recording stories I’m reading for my grandchildren who live in different states. It’s been great for improving the quality of my voice recordings in whatever space I am working in. This includes a large workshop which would otherwise create a lot of noise due to the hard surfaces within it. I feel this is an inexpensive option if you don’t have a dedicated recording studio. The appearance and size work well for me although it is a bit heavy for my articulated mount.

This gadget does what it's supposed to do...within reason. It won't make an untreated room sound like a well designed sound proofed studio, but if you record in a large untreated room like I do it will make your life a lot easier. It cuts out a LOT of the flutter type echoes you get from bare walls and reduces outside noises (AC noise, computer fan noise, etc.). Makes vocals a lot easier to record and mix. Looks really good, and the quality seems to be first rate. I haven't had it long, so time will tell on that, but it won't be moved around a lot so I don't anticipate any problems. sE Electronics is a well respected player in the pro audio field so that's a plus. As I said it's not a miracle worker but for the price and what it does you can't beat it.

It does a good job isolating vocals and making them crisp and clear when combined with a Miktek MK300 condenser microphone. I would buy it again.

This product just works. We have a limited home studio space, and this unit, combined with a pop filter, shock mount, and high-quality USB vocal mic, work for us. When setup properly, sounds are crisper and have less acoustical noise, providing more in the high-end range. I definitely recommend it to those looking for something that works really well on a budget without having to spend more on the larger unit for a smaller space.

Although there have to be slightly lower levels of performance from a product costing around £80 rather than £220 this is a nicely turned out item. It has a quality feel and looks to match! Having had to return a similar item from a rival manufacturer as unfit for purpose I was perhaps a bit more critical of this one but I'm glad to say my fears were unfounded. The Reflection Filter X is ideal for the project studio and in conjunction with other acoustic treatment in the recording room will certainly help reduce any unwanted sound from behind the microphone

Cubre mis necesidades. Es fácil de montar. Su peso no es excesivo y conserva el equilibrio en la jirafa. Las grabaciones salen más limpias y no hace falta proyectar mucho la voz. Muy recomendable.

Bought to reduce reflections in my recordings, as the room I'm in is perfectly square and has many. This shield makes the recordings sound like they were done in an iso booth love it! Easy to install as well and came with adapter for mic stand. Adapter was already installed and made me think the shield was incompatible, but after removing it it fit perfectly on my mic stand. No complaints!
