Breathe easier! Block smells!
This mask is comfortable, adjustable, and really helpful for filtering out allergens. I found it pretty easy to breathe in. The filter will need to be changed pretty regularly or it will become more difficult to breathe in it, but that isn't difficult. It's also not super pretty, but I got some paper butterflies and attached them with bobby pins so I wouldn't scare the kiddos. I found the top strap wouldn't really stay in place, but I fixed that by resting it on my hair clip. Not sure what would work best for a guy - maybe a bobby pin or something. As expected, my face got a little sweaty, but I put a cotton ball under my nose and that helped absorb the moisture. I would definitely recommend this for people having allergy difficulties, or when using harsh chemicals, or even when cutting onions. It blocks most smells as well.

Nice mask. Needs new clip design
For comparison, the included picture with review is the other version of this mask (Base Camp M Plus) that I had previously purchased. With that being said, so far my initial assessment of this version (the M Cross) is it is a good mask for what I need it for. The fit is nice and it makes a good seal. It is comfortable, especially with the adjustable nose piece. Once I get the nose piece fitted properly, I barely notice it. I like that it comes with extra filters. The filters are easy to replace. I have 2 things that I did not like about the mask, which is why I scored it a 4 instead of 5. The main issue is the clips. From the videos and pictures, I expected that the clips could be released to remove the mask after use. This is not the case. From what I can see of the design of the clip, it takes a minimum of 2 people to disengage the mechanism. If the clip is not easily separated, it is pointless. My 2nd issue, although not necessarily a bad thing, is the overall coverage. I base this on my comparison with M-Plus version. I expected the M-Plus and the M-Cross version to be similar in size, just with a different strap orientation. This is not the case. The M-Cross is quite a bit smaller and does not provide the same coverage as the M-Plus. However, the M-Cross does adequately cover the nose and mouth, so for that I can't complain. I wear a mask for approx 14 hours a day at work, and this initial assessment is straight out of the package and doing an initial fit for about 5 minutes. Once I've worn it a few times, I will update my review. For now, I'd say it is a nice mask that should serve it's purpose. I just wish the connecting clips were designed to release.

Uncomfortable and difficult to get on/off
To start with, the build and quality of these seems to be quite good, and would expect it to last several years. Breathability is also nice. Somewhat restrictive, but that's to be expected. What I don't like is that it's horribly uncomfortable to wear. After wearing the mask for even just a few minutes, it takes at least 20 minutes before I stop feeling like I just took it off. The biggest issue is that the top of the mask is extremely close to the bottom and corners of my eyes (~1/4) putting constant pressure on them. My first thought was that I accidentally bought a size too big, but my nose bridge to chin measurement was 4.4", which is within the range for this size. One possible reason is that the upper strap fit too tightly over my head, even when loosened all the way. So if I start with the mask pulled down to a somewhat comfortable position, it works it's way back up on my face after 5-10 minutes. If I tighten the lower strap more to help prevent this, then the mask put too much pressure on my nose to the point of being somewhat painful. I can only assume that they found a model with the tallest possible face and had him wear a small size to pose for the image in the description, because it's a physical impossibility to have that much clearance under your eyes. The other issue I have is the "quick release straps". I had such high hopes for this feature, but as others have said, there's nothing quick or easy about it. Initially I couldn't even separate them without the aid of plyers, thinking I would break the straps or plastic. Once on your face, forget about using them to take it off. There's literally no way you'd be able to separate them. This means having to put the mask on by sliding your head through the lower strap, which means it can never adequately tightened (though that has it's own issue as described above). This is definitely not the mask for me and will be looking for a replacement brand. At least it came in a 2-pack, so can hopefully reclaim half the cost selling it.

the exhalation valve on BASE CAMP dust face mask works better than the one on my $165 respirator
I have become very sensitive to sawdust and pollen. It affects my throat. So I've been trying various masks and respirators. If your concern is fine particles, this BASE CAMP mask is well worth a try. It fit my face fine and is better at blocking dust than my $165 respirator. The exhalation valve on my well-known name-brand $165 respirator is a thick rubber flap which makes a less than perfect seal so that dust and pollen get into your airway when you breathe in. I had to attach a piece of N95 mask over the exhalation valve to fix that problem on my expensive respirator, but then it steams up fairly quickly. By contrast, the exhalation valve on this BASE CAMP dust mask is a thin and very supple disc about 5/8 inch in diameter, and it forms a perfect seal. You can make sure the valve is seated properly by placing your lips tightly against the seal housing on the inside of the mask and then trying to suck air in. You should get no air whatsoever if your lips are tight against the plastic housing and the seal is properly seated inside. If it isn't properly seated, the housing can be opened by holding the exterior valve housing with one hand while turning the interior housing CCW until it comes apart. Of course, the respirator with full polycarbonate lens offers eye protection too, and filters are available for blocking vapors as well as particles. But if your concern is breathing in fine particles, this BASE CAMP mask in my experience is superior to the expensive respirator because of the latter's "Achilles heel", its exhalation valve. I made sure there was no foreign matter keeping the respirator's valve from closing properly. The valve's imperfect seal was also a cause for concern among the medical profession, according to articles on NIH.gov The bridge of the BASE CAMP dust mask has a clip inside it which you can pinch to help form a good seal against your nose and face. When wearing the BASE CAMP mask, I had no problem with my $12 Pyramex safety glasses (which fit over prescription glasses) steaming up.

Amazing device for filtering harmful particles in the air.
Timely, courteous delivery. My fiance works as a welder/fabricator. In the shop he works in, there is continuous dust and metal particled he breathes in while working . Breathing these dust and metal particles in causes bleeding sinuses and headaches. After receiving the Base Camp M filter and using it since then for two days he has had no headaches or bleeding sinus issues. I highly recommend this product it is durable and has been a miracle device. He loves that it is light weight, and comfortable to wear while filtering out the particles that have been harming his health.

What Type of Nonotechnology are Used in These Masks? Made in China Too. Update: March 4, 2022
For the past year, I have been hearing about nanotechnology that has been used in medications. And, now I am reading about nanotechnology that are being used in masks! I can't believe this! I didn't even notice that these masks use nanotechnology. It even says it in plain sight in their advertisement and on the package. How blind could I be? Some face masks that are made throughout the world contain nanotechnology-derived graphene. Graphene is known as a cause of pulmonary toxicity. What does that mean? Well, if the graphene comes off the mask and into the lungs, it could cause health issues. “Graphene is a strong, very thin material that is used in fabrication, but it can be harmful to lungs when inhaled and can cause long-term health problems,” reported CBC News. NOTE: I DO NOT KNOW IF THESE MASKS CONTAIN OR USE GRAPHENE. But, I would like to know. And, if not graphene, what type of nanotechnology is being used in these masks and how safe is it? Made in China? If had known that, I would not have bought them in the first place. In early November 2021, I emailed Base Camp and this is what I said in that letter: To: Base Camp, Through the Amazon website, I purchased a set of masks from your company, didn't notice in the ad that it said “nanotechnology”. What type of nanotechnology are we talking about? Be specific. Thank you, (Vibrational World) Their response arrived on November 11, 2021. Here is what that email said: (Sender's name removed by VibrationalWorld for privacy reasons) Hello The nanotechnology used in masks has the following characteristics: 1. Nano-linen yarn fabric has better pulling endurance than conventional chaotic chiffon, is not easy to pull silk, is not easy to penetrate the meat, and has a unique coolness, natural feel, and softness. 2. The fabric using nanotechnology, the structure surface is covered with a layer of chemical substances, this layer of substance can make the water on the fabric slide directly, so the nano hemp yarn has a waterproof effect, and also has antifouling, oil-proof, antibacterial effects, and comfortable At the same time, hygiene is ensured. 3. Good abrasion resistance, high elasticity, soft hand feeling, uniform dyeing, and even silk performance, cooling effect, refreshing and comfortable. Sincerely BASE CAMP Team UPDATE, NOVEMBER 13, 2021 Since I did not feel fully satisfied with their last letter, I emailed them again with a new letter: UPDATE: NOVEMBER 17, 2021 No response yet. UPDATE: MARCH 4, 2022 Still, No response to may last letter. I wonder why? Does anyone know what type of nanotechnology is used in these masks and is it safe?

Best mask I've tried for multiple chemical sensitivity
I bought the dust face mask because I have multiple chemical sensitivity and the n-95 masks you can get don't keep out scents and chemicals enough. These fit snug and were noticeably better but were comfortable to wear and it was easy to breathe with it on. We had building maintenance in the apartment recently, and while normally I would have breathing difficulties and a migraine for days after he left, once we cleared the air with air purifiers I removed the mask and I had NO reactions to him being in the apartment. I have a small face and the M style sits above my cheeks just below my eyes so it took a bit to get used to that but was well worth it for the benefits this provided

Works as hoped
Got this because I work with Cedar saw dust in some very fine particles in my shop and it wreaks havoc with my breathing and lungs. Today I wore one of these and I can truly say. WOW not a single problem after a few hours of constant cutting and sanding. I will recommend these as long as they hold out with wear and tear. Will get back on here in a week or so to update

Super comfy
So much better than the other contraption I was wearing with the round pink filters, very happy with this purchase

Not bad
Good quality and I like the look of it but the size I got has big gaps in the cheek area so it defeats the purpose unfortunately. Fortunately the other one I got from them fits perfectly. However, its breathable and the fabric is comfortable so I would recommend.
